Lantern7 October 14, 2018 Share October 14, 2018 (edited) Basic Premise: Naruto: The Next Generation. Leaf Village looks to have completely recovered from Pain's attack, and Naruto is running the show as Hokage. But this is the story of his son, Boruto, and all of his peers at the Ninja Academy, most of them looking to be the products of the original series' youngsters marrying off and reproducing. Any thoughts as we close in on the third episode? ETA: Here are the credits. Edited October 14, 2018 by Lantern7 Link to comment
Sandman87 October 14, 2018 Share October 14, 2018 Ninja kids, ominous chakra blob making people act out. So far my primary entertainment from this show has been predicting who from Naruto the parents are. The kids seem to have obvious physical resemblance to their parents, so it's not rocket science. For example, I bet the girl with the red glasses is Karin's daughter. Likewise, the pale boy's relation to Sai is obvious. Link to comment
Lantern7 October 14, 2018 Author Share October 14, 2018 (edited) Also, I have to wonder who Metal Lee's mother would be. It's obvious who's the dad, but Rock Lee might have reproduced asexually. What human being could stand up to that much . . . enthusiasm? That also would explain why Might Guy never had kids. I'm spoiled on a few of the parents . . . like Shikamaru and Temari producing little Shikadai, who also seems to be the smart one in the group so far. And, of course, Temari lays the hammer (fan?) down hard. Boruto also complains about his mom, but it's hard to imagine Hinata as a battleaxe. Then again, wasn't the same thing said of Chi Chi when DBZ began? Sai's kid is an asshole. With Sai, his lack of manners stemmed from being rigorously trained by a deep-rooted ultra-hawkish group of the Leaf Village. I don’t think his blonde son can say the same. Shikamaru and Temari seemed to spend a lot of time hanging around together whenever they were in the same vicinity back in Shippuden, so I already assumed that they'd end up together. Link to comment
Terrafamilia October 14, 2018 Share October 14, 2018 I do hope Boruto becomes less annoying as we go along, a lot less. His whole too cool for school shtick got old in the first episode. As annoying as Naruto could be his son takes the prize. Link to comment
Sandman87 October 21, 2018 Share October 21, 2018 I hope they make at least one of the characters interesting pretty soon. I'm about ready to designate this my half-hour break from Toonami. Link to comment
Lantern7 October 28, 2018 Author Share October 28, 2018 "Boruto. You know why we never had Shino get much screen time? Because nobody likes him, yet nobody hates him!" Hey, Iruka is the principal of Leaf Village Academy! Good for him. And Kuranai is still around. All that's left from that team to see are Kiba & Akamaru. I suspect the latter is still alive, since he's a ninja dog and all. Link to comment
Terrafamilia October 28, 2018 Share October 28, 2018 Is it just me or did Kuranai come across as someone who really likes her sake? How many more episodes before Boruto finally tells someone in authority about the dark chakra that's been messing people up? Link to comment

I’m thinking “soon.” I think his known jutsu is shadow clones, but he might have a weird version of his mother’s Byakugan (didn’t spell it right the first time), where he can sense personal darkness instead of chakra. Konohamaru looks good, doesn’t he? You can picture him being a “big brother” to Boruto. In other news, my iPad’s autocorrect turned “Boruto” into “abortion.” Just thought you guys should know. ?♂️?♂️ Link to comment
Sandman87 October 30, 2018 Share October 30, 2018 Being a teacher isn't really a good fit for Shino. He never was much of a people-person. Mitsuki appears to have some connection to Orochimaru. Or maybe he is Orochimaru. The snakes and the completely white skin are a dead giveaway. Link to comment
Lantern7 November 11, 2018 Author Share November 11, 2018 (edited) Is it weird that I'm really liking Cho-Cho? Not in an "I need her image on a body pillow" way, and it's not because I've been heavy my whole life. It's a mix of her looks, outfit (incorporating her dad's butterfly jutsu) and attitude. Looks like we'll have to wait two weeks to find out the deal with Boruto's darkness-spotting eye. Would've been next week, but Toonami is doing an Attack on Titan marathon. Sandman87 December 3, 2018 Share December 3, 2018 Baruto doesn't have the Byakugan, and his movie hero has feet of clay. Link to comment
Terrafamilia December 16, 2018 Share December 16, 2018 I thought I had somehow missed an episode or Toonami had skipped one when we opened in the hospital rather than showing the rescue of the kids at the water plant. I wonder if we will get some flashback's of it. (who am I kidding, the Naruto franchise sometimes seems to be half flashback) Link to comment

Yeah, same here. Kind of annoying that they didn't show it. Link to comment
Lantern7 December 18, 2018 Author Share December 18, 2018 (edited) "Dad? Look, I thought I had the Byakugan, and I was wrong. No, what I got is an eye that can sense really dark chakra. Don't know why I have it, don't know if it comes from you or Mom. That's why I've been getting into all sorts of misadventures, up to and including the train car slamming into your chiseled head on Hokage Rock." Is it too much for Boruto to just say that, or does common trope rules push him into keeping that to himself and friends? Also Shino, but -- once again -- who cares about him? Poor buggy bastard. One thing I like about Boruto: he can only summon three shadow clones, and they appear to have minds of their own. Also, the bit where he finished off the movie hero with Sarada's help was reminiscent of what Naruto and Sasuke did to Zabuza was back in the day. Also funny: Naruto asking his son if he had read a forbidden scroll, and Boruto saying that would be stupid. In front of his mother and Shikamaru. Last question: does Naruto have a different voice actor in the original version? It bugs that the same guy is apparently playing Adult Naruto. Not as annoying as kid/adult Son Goku, of course. ETA: I got this sketch of Chōchō last month. Not sure if I'll get another character from the series soon. How about Metal Lee drowning in his own flop sweat? The second one. The rules of anime require that everyone avoid communicating clearly in order to enhance dramatic potential. 15 hours ago, Lantern7 said: Last question: does Naruto have a different voice actor in the original version?
