rmontro February 14, 2018 Share February 14, 2018 I remember seeing this when it originally aired, and thinking that it was kind of a clever idea to reimagine the Roswell incident with the Ferengi. I know some people dislike the Ferengi, and this episode is mostly played for humor, but it's worth a watch IMO. Link to comment

Ferengi episodes are definitely lighter episodes, but they frequently devolve into bad farce ("What's the Grand Nagus doing in your closet?"). But I do like this one, where it's played pretty straight - hell, they have the Hew-Mons discussing dissecting the central characters! - and the little digs at us poor unenlightened humans are actually funny ("If they'll buy poison, they'll buy anything!"). Gotta love the way absolutely everybody smokes, which does seem period appropriate. My only real nitpick would be that Odo can't arrest Quark at the end because the Technobabblium was used up getting back to the 24th Century. Even if Odo's eye witness account wasn't enough to convict Quark, surely O'Brien could run a Quantum Metaphasic Resonance scan to detect their presence? The Chief's clearly slipping! But that aside, it's a fun episode. Link to comment

Yeah, I was laughing every time they lit one up, because it seemed funny to me. But that part was totally accurate! As for Odo not arresting Quark, well it seems pretty obvious he's always had a soft spot for him, so maybe he just grabbed the convenient excuse so he didn't have to arrest him. Speaking of Odo, I would have thought he could have made himself more useful than running around the base disguised as a dog. Link to comment

Granted they couldn't have him looking like people, but there was so much they could have done with him. They could have had him in a radiation suit and trying to check out records or something. Instead he was: "Get your act together Quark, we can't stay in the early 20th century." Link to comment

Every night he could revert to his liquid state in his food bowl. 1 Link to comment
