Quoting from our illustrious leader in this post in the Vikings form;

Quote

Philosophically I hate marking history as a spoiler but for history that's not well known and the subject of a TV show, I think spoiler tagging historical fact that will/might/probably be on the show should be spoiler tagged.

Here's why: some people like the show and are avoiding the known history the show is working with so they can enjoy it on face value. So please spoiler tag your historical facts for stuff taking place in the 'future' in the [British Monarchy] show universe. Thanks!

This is going to be a hard forum to have a hard and fast rule here, but please keep your comments to the episode at hand; if you reference something that happens in a future episode or season, please use spoiler tags. Many of us are already serious, hardcore Anglophiles, but not everyone is, so please refrain from discussing Queen Elizabeth's [fakespoiler]unfortunate spray tan phase in the '70s [/notreally], Prince Philip's [fakespoiler] Elvis phase in the 1960s, including the hair implants[/notreally], or Princess Margaret's future [fakespoiler] roller derby career[/notreallybutyougettheidea], so people can enjoy the episodes as they view them.

There is a new topic, History Talk: The British Monarchy where you can discuss the anachronisms, the oopsies, or various sidebars, and there's no need to tag spoilers in there.

Thank you!

Please remember to post future history in the History Talk topic; or tag it within the episode. Keep discussion within episode topics to the episode itself as much as possible. We know this is hard, since so much of this is fairly common knowledge to some folks, but keep in mind, this isn't always the case, and due to the nature of Netflix shows, people will be coming to the series fresh for a long time.

Thanks for posting at Primetimer!

With the new season dropping, we just want to remind everyone - conversation in episode topics should be about the episode only - NOT future events. Posts that bring up future events will be subject to removal.

As always, discussion of moderation actions is not allowed in topic; if you have any questions, please PM us, your forum mods for The Crown; @Athena and @saoirse. Thank you!

A reminder that politics and political figures should not be discussed unless it is specifically referenced in the episode being discussed. Even if there is a reference, it should only be in the context of the show. For Primetimer's full politics policy, see here. Thank you.

Please only discuss the events and characters of the episode thread you are in. Do not talk about future episodes, possible future events, or history. We understand that the show is entering a memorable era in pop culture and history. For the sake of spoilers, please watch what you post. Thank you.

With the fourth season dropping in just hours - a few reminders!

  • Discuss the episode in the episode topic. It's not a jumping off point for discussion of 'future*' events. Future events are discussed either the History Talk or Tabloid topics. (*future events are in the future of the story timeline).
  • Be sure that you post in the appropriate episode topic; if you talk about events in Episode Nine, do not post about it in Episode Three.
  • If you binge and then want to discuss the season as a whole, post in the final episode of the season topic.
  • Opinions will differ (we know this is probably a shock, but people have differing opinions about the BRF!). And it's fine that they're different. The site rule is to be civil to your fellow posters regardless of whether you agree with them or not.
  • Standard Primetimer politics rules are in play.

Posts will be removed that violate the above, and severe or repeated infractions may result in warnings up to and including a site ban. Thanks and enjoy the show!

Hey, all - we're seeing an issue that keeps happening in the episode topics, so just to remind everyone - while William and Harry do make appearances in Season 4, their lives post-season 4 are NOT up for discussion in the episode topics. Episode topics are for episode discussion. As posted above, we do have topics to discuss more recent events; and we do have a Season 4 special topic to discuss what doesn't get shown in the season that did occur in the 1980s.

We ask all to be thoughtful about this - yes, the British Royal Family has a lot going on, but because an episode topic can easily be derailed with a mention of something from 'the future', we are fairly strict with this rule. If your post disappears, know that it may be hidden for review, and not all hides will necessarily stand. Please PM us with questions. Thank you.

With the next season on the horizon, seems like a good time for some reminders.

  • Episode topics are for discussion of the EPISODE. Not future events or events that are contemporary to the episode but are not covered in it. There is a Season 5: History Behind the Episodes topic to discuss the events from the time frame that do not appear in the episodes.
  • As always, the site rule is to BE CIVIL. Posts may be removed, and warnings issued for violation of this rule.
  • Do not discuss moderation actions in topic
  • The forum is for The Crown - the Netflix series. For general discussion of the current British Royal family, The Royals topic in Everything Else is the appropriate place to post.
  • Warnings may be issued which may include suspensions, moderated content, up to bans, for repeated violations or uncivil behavior.

If you have questions, please PM the forum mods, @Athenaand @saoirsewith questions. Thank you for posting at Primetimer!

Hello, all - just a quick reminder of a couple of housekeeping rules.

  • Because of the rapid pace of posting, posts that violate the above guidelines or the red notice that is directly above the box where you post in episode topics may/will be removed without notice.
  • Related - discussion of non episode topics or issues (including 'they didn't show THIS in this episode) is off topic.
  • If you want to discuss those types of things, the topic to go to is Season 5: History Beyond the Episodes. Please note, because of the pace of posting, the mods will not be moving posts there.
  • And again - do NOT discuss moderation actions in any topic. This will result sanctions.

Thank you for posting, and we hope you are enjoying the show!

Welcome to the first half of the final season of The Crown!

Housekeeping reminders -

  • Episode topics are for discussion of the EPISODE. Not future events or events that are contemporary to the episode but are not covered in it. There is a Season 6: History Behind the Episodes topic to discuss the events from the time frame that do not appear in the episodes. Please note, the mods will NOT move posts there; if you post in the wrong topic, it will simply be removed.
  • As always, the site rule is to BE CIVIL. Posts may be removed, and warnings issued for violation of this rule.

Just a quick added reminder - this show is presented as a work of fiction inspired by real-life events. Asking in an episode topic for proof that something happened or explaining how it happened differently is off-topic and posts will be removed. These discussions belong in the Season 6: History topic. Thank you for your cooperation!

As a reminder - the episode topics are for discussion of the episodes. Posts that comment on more recent events, other media (i.e., movies, tv shows, etc) about the British Royal family, really, anything that is not directly related to the episode does NOT belong in the episode topics, and will be removed without notification. Repeated infractions may result in further sanctions. Please feel free to PM the forum mods, @saoirse & @Athena if you have any questions. Thank you.

With the second half of the sixth season dropping, please refresh yourself with the above guidelines. As always - discussion in episode topics is ABOUT the episode. Discussion that is not about the episode, including articles or discussion about 'how it really happened' belong in the Season Six: History topic, and will be removed from the episode topic without notice. Thank you.

Please note: with the closure of The Royals forum, there will still be no discussion of the British Royal family's current form, challenges, or fraught relationships in The Crown forum. Episode topics should focus on the episode itself and anything prior in the show. The Season Six: History Beyond the Episodes allows for more leeway, including discussion of how events really happened or what wasn't shown.

Here is a link to the site announcement on the forum closure. Thank you!
