Rick Kitchen June 25, 2016 Share June 25, 2016 A really good movie, especially if you're a history and Civil War buff such as myself. And I have always been in law with Gugu Mbatha-Raw. The intercut of the trial of their great-grandson for miscgenation in 1948 was well-done, as well. My only objection was that everything was too clean. Link to comment
Browncoat August 31, 2016 Share August 31, 2016 I just saw this -- I think it might have worked better for me had it started with the 1948 stuff and had flashbacks to why we were in court. The jumps from the 1860s to 1948 were jarring for me. Also, if there had been a bit more background in 1948 -- who dropped the dime on the great-grandson's heritage and why? He looked pretty white, and was apparently passing, so why did his ancestry suddenly come up after he was already married? Link to comment

announcergirl January 21, 2018 Share January 21, 2018 Just saw this tonight with a history buff. We liked it but it just seemed incomplete. It had tremendous potential. Link to comment
