Kurt Gibson (the Spanish-speaker!) is a cancer survivor.  Admittedly, I have not been looking at the video extras, etc. -- but I don't think I've heard him mention it during the race.

I always feel frustrated when people complain about women with loud voices "shrieking too much" in their enthusiasm, because it just doesn't bother me, and I sound like that when I get excited. But then, whichever of these guys it is who's always shouting? Ye Gods, it drives me crazy. Other than that, though, I think I like him and this team, so now I know how all those people feel when they are complaining about loud female racers. I am trying to filter out my "don't yell!" reaction, though. They seem affable, inoffensive, competent, friendly, and polite. That's a pretty good mix of qualities to have. I especially enjoyed seeing them realize they had better do well at Tejo, and using Spanish so well with the locals. A sense of humor about themselves, respect for other teams (they praised Tyler and his partner last week, I think), and excellent behavior with locals is the trifecta of decency.

For some reason I find facial hair repulsive (but really dislike short hair/buzz cuts, go figure!) so the messy, patchy beard all down Brodie's neck makes him look very unkempt. I saw some pictures of him without facial hair and he looks totally different and is very good-looking.
