S05.E07: Timer's Up

Recommended Posts

It's Chef Bobby's last recruit versus Chef Anne's last recruit to determine the ultimate winner of Worst Cooks in America. In one last face-off, finalists will cook a refined three-course meal in a professional restaurant kitchen for a panel of culinary experts who will decide which chef-mentor is the better teacher by leading his or her recruit to a $25,000 victory.

Amber only won because Bobby put together a "riskier" course, not because she actually had any idea what she was doing. Jamie was the best of the season, the most consistent and always a joy.

I was also hoping for a Jamie win too but saw the writing on the wall as soon as they started in on the winners edit by emphasizing Amber not doing well on the practice run. Luckily Jamie has a big/charming personality, so I wouldn't be surprised if he shows up on another show soon. At least he's positive and entertaining, unlike a lot of others who seem to make a career out of the reality show circuit.

This season was great IMO. The pace is nice and quick with the two eliminations every week and I really appreciate that they don't try to stir up manufactured drama between the contestants. (Yeah, I'm looking at you Under the Gunn.) It's so refreshing to watch a show where everyone basically gets along and the snark is kept to a minimum. Good job, Worst Cooks.

I was hoping Jaime would win too, but I agree Bobby planned a better menu for winning. I am happy Amber won though. She stated many times how much the money would help her & her family.

They were both deserving.

Consider this.  Not only are those nails dangerous unsanitary (making it impossible to wear gloves, leaving lacquer/polish to come off potentially into food or change the flavor, scooping up crap into the space under her nails beds), we also saw someone CUT themselves, get bandages put on but then continue to prep food--also without putting gloves on.

Well the writer's certainly had fun with Amber's nails this season. We get it. She has long nails.

I knew as soon as Amber started fumbling through practice as Jamie was doing great that Amber would win. Sure enough Jamie starts cutting himself. Around that time I predicted he would also over season his food since they mentioned more than once that he was a timid seasoner and then proceeded to play silly music while he kept adding salt to his beans over and over again.

See, this is the kind of thing that makes us inherently distrust the integrity of reality competitions.  The fact that, as an audience, I bet MOST of us saw how they showed Amber doing badly and Jamie doing well in the practice and felt it seemed constructed to fulfill the reality show necessity/cliche for an "underdog" and the pretense that the winner was a surprise (since in theory someone is supposed to see Jamie doing so well as meaning he was going to win). With the bean salting as foreshadowing, so that the ones who DO "guess" what's going to happen feel special for seeing it.
