Wu and Company: Humans We Keep Bumping Into

I know Wu's partner, Franco, better as Det. Bonanno from the Boston-set Leverage episodes. Every time I see him I shout, "Bonano!" in   a very happy tone. I also worry about him every time he's on-screen. Now that he's Wu's partner, I'm not sure if I should relax some or worry more!  XD

A propos of nothing, but while catching up belatedly on these forums since the mid-season finale, I thought of a joke!  I must warn you, it's not funny, but I thought you all might chuckle a wee bit. :)

"Knock, knock."

"Who's there?"

"Tell."

"Tell who?"

"No, no, it's 'Tell Wu!'"

My apologies in advance for this one. :)

You know, I was a little worries about adding Wu into the mix, but I think it will be an interesting development.  So far, not just since he's been told but really throughout the series, he's shown that he's one of the more intelligent characters.  Yes, Monroe and Rosalee have a lot of Wessen knowledge, and Nick has his books.  But what does Nick really doesn't do anything with what he learns from his books and Monrosalee, he just sort of follows the expected path.  Wu, on the other hand, is someone who figures things out.  He can take data and manipulate it (I'm thinking especially of the Rumplestiltskin/Gamer episode, which I think is probably the best Wessen of the Week storylines so far) and, as we saw at the end of Tribunal, he's willing to put the hours in to study and learn.

I think this will make Wu a very important part of the team (although I fear it may cause Hank to be crowded out).

Good stuff. Also, being a sergeant he knows the other uniformed cops better than the detectives do. He's proven to be an asset there, like in Acker's interrogation.

Where he's going to be really useful from now on is that since he gets to most crime scenes before the detectives, he can help keep the other uniformed cops from getting too curious about wesen-related stuff while providing better initial intel to Hank and Nick. Sure, there's only so much time in an episode and expanding a role for one character may mean less time for others, but I'm looking forward to how Wu's new knowledge will affect the snark level in his crime scene exposition dumps.

I agree with both of you; at a certain point, the "big secret" stops being that big when all our principles and supporting cast are in on it... which is now, after all!  I may be mistaken, but with Wu clued in there is no regular or important character left on the show who isn't aware of the Wesen world.  Er, excepting Diana-Adalind Schade, as she's pre-verbal.  :)

Hopefully the writers will wrap up this Juliette thread by the next hiatus, and with Wu in the loop and clearly eager and committed (in the good way) to learning more about this new world it frees them to push the pedal to the metal on the adventures of the Scooby gang: a tongue-in-cheek Monster of the Week crime fighting team that's bad ass and a little bit whismical.  I don't tune into this show for deep dramatic catharsis or serious, thought-provoking social commentary.  I tune in because it's fun, because it's serious and tense but not to full of itself as to be self-important.

Others have previously suggested Wu is the best candidate to suggest scanning/OCR'ing the books and adding them to an album on one's phone, or otherwise making better use of this knowledge/linking it/searching it.  The sooner we can leave behind precious screen time each episode spent trekking to the- admittedly cool looking- Airstream in favor of more plot and character development, the better.  It'd make sense given his established technical bent, and solid detecting skills (though he's not yet a detective), and the fact that being both new to it and the most troubled by it he'd have the most incentive to "master" this topic- as we saw from his late night fast-food fueled cram session.

If we're following standard Five-Man Band tropes, It seems natural that Wu would leap into the role of "The Smart Guy".  Now if you'll excuse me, since I foolish opened TVTropes, I've been sucked into its clutches for the next two to three hours. :)

Wu was cool tonight.  It's not often that you get to potentially host the woman who inadvertently gave you pica. (I hope Drew only eats others' food with permission currently. :p)

I hope that Wu was stationed at Bud's house, in case things went bad. If so, I hope he's got on a vest, minimum, and has programmed his back-up so he doesn't have to do anything more than press one button.
