chessiegal January 18 Author Share January 18 Bringing over cooking or not cooking at home. All the grocery stores I go to have fresh prepared meals you can buy. If I lived by myself, I would probably use them more than I do. This is outside of frozen meals. Plus, there are home delivery meal services now that are basically heat and eat. Home Chef comes to mind. There's another I see advertised that I can't remember the name. I have a high school classmate who doesn't cook because it makes her kitchen dirty. 😆 I suppose a vanity kitchen for those who don't cook is probably a good investment when it comes time to sell. chessiegal Thursday at 03:32 PM Author Share Thursday at 03:32 PM A news item appeared in one of my news feeds today on the 6 "ick" factors for homebuyers when it comes to kitchens. These items were listed by real estate professionals. 1. Butcher block countertops. They require care, and if not properly cleaned and treated can get ugly. They pointed out they are particularly difficult to seal around sinks that can lead to water damage. A small, dedicated butcher block for use as a cutting board is okay. 2. Mismatched appliances. 3. Older appliances. 4. Fluorescent box lighting. 5. Oak cabinets (orange-tinted) that were popular in the 1990s. 6. Overly thematic designs. The example given was a nautical theme with fish nets draped over the ceiling and fake portholes on the cabinets. 3 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/151486-small-talk-for-sale-by-owner/#findComment-8586426
Crashcourse Thursday at 07:39 PM Share Thursday at 07:39 PM If I liked the rest of the house those things wouldn't deter me from wanting to buy it. I'd just negotiate the price down to cover the costs of replacing those kitchen items. 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/151486-small-talk-for-sale-by-owner/#findComment-8586618
BAForever 21 hours ago Share 21 hours ago (edited) Long story- starting a minor house remodel, bought a cookie cutter new build 12 years ago because cul-de-sac, big back yard, good part of town, one level, etc. House was completed when we bought. Re-fied with an amazing interest rate start of covid, so just paid it off. As I'm picking floors, paint, new countertops, etc. I'm doing if for ME, not what's trendy. When we sell, we will find someone (probably a lot of someones) who will want our house due to cul-de-sac, backyard, nice part of town, etc. These HH's who fixate on little things that can be changed aren't smart.
