Snazzy Daisy Friday at 04:45 PM Author Share Friday at 04:45 PM Not The Shining’s iconic carpet! This show is about grief. It implies that this is a case of acute transference-countertransference between a patient and the treating physician having a shared delusion. Fine, but Eli facing NO ultimate consequences for all his stunts (cutting Noah’s forehead for imaginary worm, drowning Noah in the lake for what, atonement?) is truly ridiculous. Noah is now cured, what a miracle! 🙄 Alternatively, this could be a story about guilt and Before & After life. A little girl getting nudged by little Eli into a frozen lake and she drowned. She’s then being reincarnated as Benjamin only to be killed again by adult Eli. The reincarnation continues through Noah. Spiritually, Lynn felt some kind of connection with Benjamin because they were childhood friends. Jacobi Jupe is a promising young actor. It’s not easy to play Noah and he holds his own while sharing scenes with Billy Crystal. Kudos for that! 👏🏻 And now Sophie is seeing dead people. Whatever psychological issue that Eli has, is it hereditary? 👀 3 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/151115-s01e10-before/#findComment-8537469
Mindthinkr Friday at 05:37 PM Share Friday at 05:37 PM This series was creepy and I had to accept beliefs in order to feed the narrative. Thus, I don’t think Eli has atoned in the spiritual realm for all his perceived injustices to Noah, his wife, or Benjamin. Either that or they have transferred to his granddaughter. Yet he was the last one to see a worm under his skin so… Not yet sure how I felt about this series as a whole yet other than it’s being spooky and unsettling to watch at times. 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/151115-s01e10-before/#findComment-8537511

Noah is now cured, what a miracle! 🙄 Eli spent five months in residential psychiatric care (per his voiceover at the end). I would guess that all of his stunts were chalked up to his psychosis and he was given treatment rather than having to face criminal charges. He could well have lost his medical licence and we do know that he's not allowed see Noah again. So I wouldn't say 'no' consequences.
