Snazzy Daisy November 22, 2024 Author Share November 22, 2024 What a meandering episode. The Jackal keeps making mistakes — leaving traces at Attila’s house and truck, calling Nuria using his hostage’s phone, not killing Laszlo etc. Quote “You have good man face.” Am surprised at this point MI6 hasn’t been able to trace the Jackal’s trails in the dark web yet. These things are traceable now. FBI has been doing it, why can’t MI6? No one in “Operation Anubis” is looking into this? UDC will be launching River in 4 days. That’s the timeline for the Jackal. The hookup with Rasmus is obviously to gain access to Tallinna Kontserdisaal (Estonia Concert Hall). Twinsies — MI’s Ethan Hunt vs. The Jackal. 2 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/150659-s01e06-episode-6/#findComment-8515111
sugarbaker design December 8, 2024 Share December 8, 2024 (edited) I just realized Ulle Dag Charles is a near anagram of Charles DeGaulle, the original Jackal's target. The hookup with Rasmus is obviously to gain access to Tallinna Kontserdisaal (Estonia Concert Hall). I don't buy the premise that killing UDC will be the only way to derail River. Presumably UDC isn't developing the software, which would need a whole infrastructure to tap into all the financial flows it's suppose to expose. In fact there's a scene in one of the episodes in which UDC makes his partner promise to continue on with River regardless of what happens to him. Presumably his whole company is supporting this thing. Whether he demos it in person in Estonia should be besides the point -- though I guess UDC is suppose to be this very charismatic figure who will draw all kinds of media coverage and attention. While Estonia sounds exotic, this kind of launch would be occurring in NY in real life. But really if the Jackal's clients are wiling to pay this much money, they should be hiring hacking groups to break into UDC's company and destroy the infrastructure as well as kill UDC. Still for the purposes of the plot -- I've only watched through episode 6 so far -- I guess it makes for an interesting climax. BTW, if this guy's security is such a big deal, they wouldn't have just drones surveilling over the island. They'd have helicopters with men with high-power rifles. Maybe they have that if the drones detect something but they keep showing the security staff operating drones. I guess every modern thrillers about MI6 and all kinds of geopolitical intrigue now must show scenes of a wall full of monitors of some kind. Norman had that in his Budapest hideout -- by the way, if assassins like the Jackal gives him a few million for each special weapon, I guess that would fund the huge weapons shop that he had there, but how many assassins are there looking for "bespoke" guns like the Jackal? But they simply cut the power and Norman didn't think to have generator backup? So he had to fight off the cops blind and obviously his surveillance couldn't warn him that the Jackal was going to end him. 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/150659-s01e06-episode-6/#findComment-8547922
Zaffy January 8 Share January 8 I found it kind of weird that Norman didn't have efficient security or an escape plan. He stayed behind shooting at the invaders, which was the stupidest of things to do. Usually people like him have at least a couple of exit strategies when things go wrong plus they also put traps in their "workshop" and blow/burn it before they leave. 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/150659-s01e06-episode-6/#findComment-8549219
