[QUESTION] - Movies vs. "Streaming Service Movies"

I just noticed there's a sub-sub-thread for "Streaming Service Movies" which just contains a single movie -

As far as I can tell, this is a movie that's been shown in theaters and in film festivals.  It is currently streaming on Netflix but I can't see that Netflix was actually involved in its development.

So my question is, when we start a topic for a new movie that happens to be available on a streaming service, how do we differentiate when to put it in TV&Streaming Service Movies/Streaming Service Movies and when to put it in Beyond TV Shows/Pop Culture/Movies:

https://forums.primetimer.com/forum/55-movies/

It seems like trying to split out movies like this is going to lead to a lot of confusion, especially since the movie I noted above (Woman of the Hour) isn't findable using the search feature at the top of the home page.   Actually I don't think movies in the Pop Culture category are searchable either.  So posters looking for a thread about a particular movie would have to know that there are 2 different places movies might be, and if starting a thread, would need to know which forum to put it in.

I know this all sounds confusing.  Maybe there's a mod note somewhere that I missed but it would be great if we could get some kind of clarification.

I had different information regarding the movie, hence, it ended up where it ended up.

I have to admit, with all of the streaming services involved, I often find categorizing anything that isn't a TV show difficult myself.

Might it be best to create one "Movies" forum, move all movies there and create subforums for things like Hallmark Christmas Movies?

Not for me. We already have a TV Movies subforum. Just maybe keep all streaming and theatre released movies under the Movies forum.

That sounds reasonable to me.  Except do you really need to create a new forum?  Isn't that basically what the Pop Culture/Movies already is (except for the subforfums you noted)?  That's where I would look first for a thread about a movie, even if I saw it on a streaming service.

Create might have been the wrong word. What I had in mind was to move all movies under one TV umbrella forum. So, use one of the existing ones but "create" a place where all can be found.

Maybe the cleanest and simplest solution would be to leave “TV Movies” as is (with its various subforums for Hallmark etc.) and eliminate “Streaming Movies” entirely (and move the two threads there to the “regular” Pop Culture/Movies forum).

It wasn't; Netflix bought it for distribution after it made the film festival circuit.  I don't think it ever was shown in theatres regularly, only at those festivals, but I have not confirmed that, just read it from another poster.

Speaking of the new TV Movies and Streaming Service Movies categories, I followed both once they were created, but neither show on my customized home page.  So they are apparently set up for some reason like the Commercials category, where they can't be added to the home page.  It sounds from this discussion like they may not stick around, making it a moot point, but if they do I'd like to be able to add them to my home page.

Well, that was fast -- now they're on my home page.  Yay!
