Tyro49 September 15 Share September 15 Bridgerton presents such a lovely picture of a thorougly integrated society that you can't help but wish it would have really been that way. Say, maybe because of rumors that Princess Charlotte was "dark" they had really elevated some wealthy "dark" British families to attend upon her. (Were there any such rumors about her other family members, but only about her?) Even so, seemingly within the lifespan of a single generation, could it really have happened that way? The easy mingling and associating, the easy intermarrying, with no one anywhere saying a word, not even members of the "older" generation? It would have been wonderful if it could have been like that, but could it really have been? What an effect it would have had on the rest of the world, especially the southern US of the time. Ah, well, we can only dream, can't we? Link to comment
Harvey September 16 Share September 16 Of course it could have been. People are not inherently prejudiced. It is a learned behavior. Link to comment

Ah, well, we can only dream, can't we? The rumors about the historical Queen Charlotte are based on one guy going off in his private diary and one portrait of her that some people think points to her having African features. This was not something Charlotte had to deal with during her lifetime, nor did her siblings. 3 1 Link to comment
