HBO documentary that premieres on Tuesday, September 17 from 9-10:29pm ET/PT and streams on Max

Synopsis: STOPPING THE STEAL is an inside account of President Trump's challenge to the results of the 2020 presidential election as told by former White House staff and appointees, including former Attorney General William Barr, and elected Republican officials in Arizona and Georgia who resisted pressure to change the results of the vote in their states.

Recounted in detail by former staff members of the Trump Administration, Republican political appointees, and elected state officials, STOPPING THE STEAL tracks the evolution of the movement to discredit the American election starting as early as July 2020 when the legitimacy of the election process began to be publicly questioned.

Really wish they would not have used the phrase 'Stopping The Steal.' It suggests that there was something stolen to be taken back, when in fact these were the people trying to steal and overturn the results of a free and fair election. There's gotta be a better title besides to just appropriate their own damn claim.

Yeah, I was kind of thinking the same thing when I first read the press release. I wasn't sure which point of view they were taking at first

I get what you're saying. But on the other hand, maybe this title will attract some voters who otherwise wouldn't have watched it. And those are the people who really need to see it. Otherwise, it will just be preaching to the converted.

I’ve watched about halfway so far and it’s quite interesting to hear the inside story from various officials who had to contend with the bogus fraud allegations and some people on the other side who believed there was from fraud

And the footage of Trump bawling someone out because he was displeased about something they apparently said was eye opening.

I’m still surprised Bill Barr didn’t support Trump on this given how partisan he was

Finished the doc and it was fascinating. I’m not sure there was anything majorly new that we learned if you had been following the election news, but it was interesting to hear the perspective from local and state officials on all the pressure they were getting from Trump and his people along with the death threats. Even more interesting was hearing from his staffers who broke with him afterwards. Bill Barr made an interesting comment that “it appeared that Trump and his people eventually came to the conclusion there was some avenue by which they could force the election into Congress. It’s one thing if there’s strong evidence the election was stolen. But they felt they didn’t really need the evidence, they could just BS their way through it. So their end game was foolish”

Trump comes across as a thug and a very corrupt person. And yet, he’s again the nominee for president
