S01.E03: Not So Much As Love As By Awe

Mary puts into place a plan to take down Somerset for good when she learns of his plot to intentionally side line George from the King and humiliate him in the process. Meanwhile, Francis Bacon senses an opportunity and digs his claws into George, instructing him to be bolder and stand up to Somerset. But George’s attempts to appeal to the King directly go terribly wrong.

At the same time, Mary draws out Somerset’s rivals, and with the help of Sir Edward Coke, begins to take down the conspirators who undertake Somerset’s dirty work. With Somerset on the ropes, Mary and George have an opportunity to take him down for good.
