Snazzy Daisy March 13 Share March 13 Quote Micki's funding is approved to train other officers in profiling. Micki's world may come crashing down as the pressure mounts at work. Air Date: February 21, 2024 Link to comment
Snazzy Daisy March 25 Author Share March 25 Among all cases, this is the dullest one. Not many leads, only vague profile. Mark ends his relationship with Micki, he couldn’t take it anymore. There will always be another killer, it’s a game of whack-a-mole. Micki is burning out. Her frustration over this case & other ongoing cases is piling up and her sudden outbursts are uncalled for. They catch the wrong perp. The case is getting nowhere until the Saloon Killer shows up at one of his crime scene, confronting Micki. He reminds her about her failure to catch him, then he shoots her. Two months later, Micki gets to sit down with the killer. She’s right all along, he’s motivated by anger. He was raped in jail & contracted STDs. He feels powerless and the rifle gives him back the power. Velaphi Ndlangmadla was convicted of 19 murders, 9 attempted murders, 6 robberies, 1 attempted robbery, 5 housebreakings, indecent assault, illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition, and pointing a firearm. He was sentenced to 137 years of imprisonment. OVERALL - I like that this show is understated and not overly dramatic. It feels unHollywood. What I don’t like is the portrayal of Micki as a chain smoker. It’s very off putting. They could’ve made her a non-smoker and it won’t affect the story. After a while, there’s a sameness about the cases, how Micki builds each profile and how she gets into the killers’ mind. Her methods become predictable and her questions become repetitive. 1 Link to comment
christie May 1 Share May 1 What I liked about this series is that we saw the toll that this takes on Micki (and not just Micki, we saw the police officers affected by the killings as well. In most procedurals, there may be a newbie who throws up at a crime scene or a crusty middle aged detective who's an alcoholic but most of the police seem to be unfazed by all the killings - this was, definitely, not the case here. I saw the smoking as a symptom of her anxiety; I may be wrong but I got the impression that her smoking increased as the series progressed. Link to comment
