SAVIOR COMPLEX chronicles the controversial story surrounding Renee Bach, a young American missionary who felt called by God to set up a charity for malnourished children in Jinja, Uganda. But years later, shocking allegations arose that Renee was treating the sick children herself, without medical qualifications. Detailing Renee’s divisive journey, the series addresses the wider questions around “white saviorism” and the ethics of foreign aid work done in the name of humanitarian and religious ideals.

Savior Complex has been getting a lot of backlash recently. I was hoping someone would make some kind of documentary on Renee Bach, but I don't like that they interviewed her. I confess I'm perversely curious, but I'll keep this docuseries at arm's length until I learn more. Does anyone else have any thoughts?

A review of Savior Complex from The Guardian.

Maybe it will be more damning than we thought. I hope so, because I find real-life villain apologia utterly infuriating. Hopefully Renee will make herself look awful, the way Darren White did in Audrie and Daisy.
