Tabbyclaw September 3, 2014 Share September 3, 2014 Knowing the moment of your death isn't as thrilling as one might think, as several Haven residents are soon to learn. Nathan and Duke must solve this trouble before the clock runs out. Link to comment
Elsinore September 3, 2014 Share September 3, 2014 I like Countdown. Not the whole stalkery resolve of it, but as a whole I do like this episode. Link to comment
Tabbyclaw September 6, 2014 Author Share September 6, 2014 This episode is one of the few times where I've wished that Haven was a network show with twenty-some-odd episodes per season. I love the tight pacing that the short seasons force on the show and think they're part of its storytelling success, but I would have liked to see Audrey and Duke keep Audrey's identity secret from Nathan for longer, and you know, some median stages for Wade between 'confused and ignorant' and 'gleefully homicidal.' Jordan, the cheese may have slid all the way off your cracker, but you still deserved better than that. The Trouble of the week was decently suspenseful, but one of the weakest resolutions they've done so far. Although I did get a bit of a chuckle out of Paul's immediate switch from "What? I'm Troubled? I'm killing people?" to "Are you crazy; I can't talk to a girl!" 1 Link to comment
BlueJay81 September 6, 2014 Share September 6, 2014 Wade and Jordan were wasted opportunities, I would have loved to see Jordan meet Mara . Have an issue with the Crocker Trouble Why did Wade just go crazy in 5 minutes but the other Crockers we've met Simon, Grandpa Crocker and especially Duke seem to be able to contain and control their Trouble. We don't really know why Simon was killed, did he go crazy or did he want to kill Lucy? In Sins of the fathers he didn't seem to be addicted to the killing. We know Duke has a problem now with the re troubling but that is not the standard operating procedure of the Troubles Link to comment
dargosmydaddy September 6, 2014 Share September 6, 2014 The minute they got rid of Jordan made season 4 so much better for me, though Wade going off the deep end did seem very rushed/ WTF-esque. Link to comment
Elsinore September 6, 2014 Share September 6, 2014 I hated Wade. Where Simon and Roy appeared to be mildly interesting characters that should have stuck around longer, Wade was just a really odd duck. Jordan, the cheese may have slid all the way off your cracker, but you still deserved better than that. I might want to use this is everyday online conversation. Seriously. And yes, she did. Perhaps she should have skipped town around the time she kidnapped that little girl in Burned. The thing that struck me the most about the stabbing scene was that she wore something of colour. anstar September 6, 2014 Share September 6, 2014 Jordan, the cheese may have slid all the way off your cracker, I thought I was the only one who ever used this phrase! This and "her tinfoil hat needs adjusting". I might have felt bad for Jordan if there was anything noble at all about her quest for Nathan's head. It was pure woman scorned though. She even said as much to Vince. "He made me fall in love with him". Whether his death ended the troubles or not didn't really matter to her. If it did, bonus. If not, well, they'd figure something else out. Wade got hooked on the heroin-like effects of the troubled blood very quickly, that's for sure. He was already unstable before he got the first 'hit'. Reeling from the pending divorce, upset and suspicious because Duke was obviously hiding something from him, and genetically predisposed to addiction. Recipe for disaster. So the shorter seasons forced a condensed storyline, but it was semi-believable. Link to comment
Shanna Marie September 8, 2014 Share September 8, 2014 (edited) I love the tight pacing that the short seasons force on the show and think they're part of its storytelling success, but I would have liked to see Audrey and Duke keep Audrey's identity secret from Nathan for longer, and you know, some median stages for Wade between 'confused and ignorant' and 'gleefully homicidal.' While Wade definitely needed more gradual development, I'm not sure I'd have believed it if they'd dragged out Nathan figuring things out. One thing I've always loved about this show is that people either tell things quickly or figure things out quickly, and I don't think there's any way Nathan would have spent too much time with "Lexie" before he figured out she was really Audrey. It pretty much either had to come in the next episode, or they'd have had to find a good reason to drag it out, like her gaslighting him instead of admitting it or keeping them much further apart. As it was, he figured it out while they thought he was going to die within minutes, so it wasn't like she had time or motivation to keep up the pretense once he questioned it. Jordan finally got a clue and realized no one was making her a monster but herself. Too bad she died right afterward. She was just starting to grow on me. ETA -- and Gloria! This is when Gloria shows up. I love her. And I loved the description of what happened to Lucassi, that he left in the night and took his neighbor's cats. That's when you know he snapped.
