Aulty November 6, 2022 Share November 6, 2022 (edited) I rewatched the show. I know that back in the day I was very pro Charles and anti Josh, tbh I think I only was pro Charles because Nico Tortorella and the writing for Josh melted my head. The second time round I noticed how incredibly unlikable all the guys (except Enzo, who is a catch) on this show are. As are half the women. I really wish the 'no baby' lady-manager KT from the final season, Josh was hooking up with, was introduced sooner and could've stayed around. A strong driven woman to spar with Liza instead of Josh running after her like a puppy. Diana just got better on rewatch, as did Maggie (shame about her love life going nowhere). It should've had more Diana+Maggie content. Weirdly, I also somewhat like Quinn - in the current climate she does not seem that over the top. In retrospect most of the book ideas pitched and pictured on the show also make a lot of sense. Of course the timelines are still massively questionable. Lauren and Redmond should've been roomies. The final season is still terrible. Edited November 6, 2022 by Aulty Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/130579-younger-general-discussion/#findComment-7737452
Night Cheese January 24 Share January 24 I just started this a few days ago. I think I'm halfway through season 1. I'm finding the show pretty good. The basic concept of generational culture clash more or less transcends time, only the details change, so this holds up pretty well. I would have been 26 or 27 when the show started, so it's not lost on me that if this show were made today it would feature my gen (millennial) pretending to be a gen-Zer and navigating the world of TikTok and whatever other genZ stereotypes they want to throw in there. I was shocked at first that this wasn't an Amy Sherman-Paladino show, but now several episodes in I realize it's not nearly witty enough to be an ASP project. It definitely had her writing style and overall vibe at first. The wonderful-as-always Sutton Foster plays Liza as a fish-out-of-water that is still somehow effortlessly cool. I guess that's because Sutton Foster is effortlessly cool. That said, how long can this pretend to be in her 20s act hold up? SF, while beautiful and youthful, doesn't pass for 26 at all, so the whole premise is pretty unrealistic. Will we see Liza in her mid-40s having a "dirty 30" party just because she has to keep up the pretense? Does her daughter ever return from India and wonder wtf is going on? I'm going to keep watching because it's an easy background show, but I hope that in future seasons more characters learn about her con. Shermie Saturday at 05:00 PM Share Saturday at 05:00 PM It would have worked better if Liza had said she was 29 at the beginning because she’d still be “in her 20s” but a few years older and that would explain some of her fish out of water actions/reactions. I do find the young vs “old” stereotypes trope-y and tiresome. I’m waaay older than Liza really is, and I know a lot of what the 20-somethings are talking about. And I’m not tech-stupid either. 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/130579-younger-general-discussion/#findComment-8563910
