Hi, Alex Carter! You're not quite on a Mark Sheppard level of stalking me, but you do seem to pop up everywhere.

This is a solid episode. We've got plot, we've got mystery, we've got violence, we've got Dwight, we've got people gettin' killed as needed killin', we've got an awesome Melissa Etheridge song, and we've got attractive people with guns. Really, is there anything else we need?

Don't forget all the scenery porn, with bonus shots of sunset and sunrise over water. They might as well have had a caption saying: "This episode brought to you by the Nova Scotia Tourism Board. Visit scenic Nova Scotia! (We don't really have cannibal monsters roaming the woods)"

I still find the subtle Doctor Who in-joke of the couple named Rory and Amelia amusing (it had to have been on purpose).

But I'm a bit baffled by the Rev's handling of Duke and Duke's gullibility. The Rev was obviously stringing him along, so I'm not sure why Duke really thought that he would at last get all the answers, if only Audrey hadn't shot the Rev. And I'm not sure why the Rev was stringing him along or why he thought anyone would blame the Troubled for Evi's death when she was shot down in the middle of the street in cold blood by the Rev's men. Yeah, that's the way to win someone over to your side! If the Rev had just told Duke what was up earlier in the season, the outcome might have been totally different. Instead, Duke got to see in great detail exactly how awful the Rev was.

The episode's writer insists it wasn't intentional in the commentary, though I'm not sure if I believe him.

The biggest answer Duke wanted was "why are you so damn interested in me," which the Rev wouldn't really be able to continue not telling him if he intended to use Duke. And blaming the Troubled for Evi's death is crazy zealot logic: Look what those people made us do to keep everyone else safe.

This is still one of my favorite Haven episodes. It was interesting seeing Audrey being at odds with Duke instead of Nathan. And really seeing more of Nathan's concern for Duke's well-being. Audrey got really us against the world with Nathan in this episode. They set up this whole thing with Nathan v. Rev as early as S1 so I didn't expect it would be Audrey's fight. That she would be the one to deal with the threat. I guess it makes sense since she's the heroine and protector of  the troubled.
