Winter weather is certainly having its way with the end of these Games. Because of wind and excessive cold, they shortened the men's 50k freestyle to 30k yesterday, and the women's 30k has been moved up from 2:30pm Beijing time to 11:00am Beijing time. Considering that this means 10:00pm my time instead of 1:30am my time, this is good news for my sleep schedule.

I hope they get it in in time and it doesn't get cancelled.

Congrats to Jessie Diggins for winning USA’s last medal of the games, a silver in the 30k freestyle. She looked about dead when she crossed the line, but she did it!

Jessie Diggins is a BADASS. She said afterward that she had food poisoning 30 hours before the race! Meanwhile, I can barely get off the sofa after a short night of sleep. That she was able to medal is amazing. The first non-European to medal in the event.

The only non European? Jessie also got a bronze in the sprint. So she won a medal in both the shortest and longest events. 

eta I need to learn to read. I didn't get to the part about her being the only non European to medal in the 30k. My bad! 🤡
