Milburn Stone December 10, 2020 Share December 10, 2020 We watched the first episode of Black Narcissus on Hulu, felt meh, and figured the 1947 movie had to be better. So we watched it last night. It is better, by a factor of approximately one million. 1 2 Link to comment

Milburn Stone December 11, 2020 Author Share December 11, 2020 (edited) Couldn't agree more re Kathleen Bryon, @VCRTracking. Another thing the film has over the series (another of the millions of things the film has over the series) is the beautiful matte paintings and superb matte compositing to create the thrilling and awe-inspiring illusion of the environment. The show uses digital technology to create the same thing, and, ironically, it's far less convincing and simply doesn't have the same effect. caracas1914 December 11, 2020 Share December 11, 2020 The 1947 version can be summed up in two words: Sexual Tension. It had it in spades and few films can equal it. 2 Link to comment
