  1. OK, granted, I've only had the one child, and I assume it's different for everyone.....but, seriously, when my water broke, it was not at all like it was for Fanny.  I hate when TV and movies make it look like a water balloon exploding when dropped from a great height.

Serena heard about Emily stealing a car and being taken away by the time that Offred got home. How did she find out? Do they still have phones?

Gossip travels fast. What else do they have?

I thought you were shutting her out of political discussions because in the New World they live in his wife isn't even allowed to be in his office.  I don't think they're able to discuss politics or work with women at all

Just like he's not supposed to have illicit meetings with his Handmaids, or have magazines.  I think he could discuss these things with his wife if he wanted to, if it felt it would benefit him. He chooses not.  I suspect that he enjoys the inequality of it all.

I think the scene was lovely and sexy in a real way, but I'll admit, it was more, uh, handsy then what I'm used to seeing from tv/movie sex scenes. I rarely see actors touch each other in such intimate ways, no matter how over wise graphic or intimate the scene is. Still, it was a nice wake up after those dual scenes between June and Luke lol.

I loved the handsy-ness of it! That is some commitment to a scene!

He's not supposed to have fashion magazines either, much less let Offred read them, or play illicit Scrabble with her. I think it's pretty clear that Fred/the commander only obeys the rules when he wants to.

legxleg, you beat me to it!

  4. Just finished the episode.

Get it, June, heh heh HEH!!! Loved it! and the ending song? Perfection. Like Janine, I laughed out loud with glee.

That was some nice, realistic looking sex. In the comments on Hulu, someone claimed that it was pornographic and that they were going to quit watching. I didn't think it was porny or gratuitous at all, just very natural.

I hope that Emily's end is quick and relatively painless. I kind of wished that she has crashed into something and ended it herself.

  5. I have to admit that I was touched by the scene between Serena Joy and Fred after he couldn't get it up.  I could sense the longing for connection, the ache to be able to touch and take pleasure in one another.   Especially from Serena Joy, who gets no sensual contact from the Ceremony.  Watching her desperately take in his scent made me feel for her.  Even though she is complicit, she is also a victim.  Makes me wonder about their relationship from before. Did he confide in her then, seek out and respect her advice?

Very similar to June's pleasure and longing as she held the dictionary.

The scene from with Dr. Donny..........June was so vulnerable. She always is, but, in that moment, especially so. He could have raped her very easily. The asking was just a formality. Her reaction in the van was a very real, visceral reaction to that truth. I've been in situations like that, where, after, it hits you so hard just what kind of danger you were in.

Also, the look on her face when she stepped outside at the end, and looked up and saw Serena Joy looking down from the window.  Her facial expression so clearly said, "Fuck YOU, Bitch", that they didn't even have to have June's voiceover state it.

Noticed an expansion in June's wardrobe, that she now has a red sweatshirt, and a scarf. So many lovely shades of red in the Handmaid's wardrobe.  And the shades of turquoise in the wives' wardrobe.  I'd like to see the shop where the wardrobes are made/sold.

I teared up when the other Handmaids shared bits of their breakfast with June.  That was so beautiful.

  6. David Ross was surprisingly.....HOT. I did not see that coming. Those arms, that hip action! He really got into it, and was so much fun to watch! I do like a slightly thick man who can move well.

Mr. T has so much heart! I hope he lasts for a while. He's humble, listens to the judges and gets better each week. Not greatly better, but better.

I adore Nancy, who I think brought the heat and, like David, looked like she was having a blast. I really like her. She seems sweet, hardworking and eager to learn.

Normani is the whole package. Gorgeous, talented, sexy, a great performer. I worried about her partnership with Val initially, because he seemed cold towards her. It was great to see them bond in Hong Kong. I didn't know anything about her before DWTS,  but she seems to have a good head on her shoulders. I admire her courage and drive that allow her travel so far from home to pursue her dreams at such a young age.

  7. When Dorothy showed up, my reaction was "Oh, yeah..........she is still in this." I was so caught up in the other characters' stories that I had totally forgotten about her.

I feel that Toto rescued Dorothy from Roan because she is his way home.

    Also: Skinless Warren!

  8. Two great moments, both from untucked:

Kim Chi subtly casting shade on Bob with the comment: "It was a makeover challenge............", and Bob looking like he wanted to snap back, but not really being able to.

    and

Chi Chi's little woman reading Bob's outfit for looking like it came from Rainbow.  This last one especially tickled me, because I'd recently learned about Rainbow as a shop where you can pick up really cheap clothing. I guess it's a New York area store? The person who told me about it was from NY.  In Houston, we have a store called Fallas Perades where similar cheap things can be bought.

  9. Certain forms of ballroom, Broadway- to me that's Under the Bus territory.  They're less familiar, can be more cheesy and/or old-fashioned, and there's no blatant emotional manipulation to compel people to praise it (though I suppose there could be...what would a samba about sadness look like?).

I would love to see a Samba of Despair. Or a melancholy krump routine.  Or maybe even a joyful contemporary.

  10. How much control do the dancers have over things like costuming, choreography, and props?  I caught on immediately that it was a saxophone in the song that Megz danced to, but the choreographer handed her a trumpet. What was she supposed to do? Neither Travis nor Twitch caught it.  What could she do about the tightness of her pants?

Ok, enough rant, some thought on the dancing:

JJ and Kate's routine was cute and fun, but very light on content.  I think they did what they could with it.

Ariana and Alexia (I think) had the makings of a very cool routine.  I agree that they could have made it darker. I didn't have a problem with the smiles, they were portraying fish, for heaven's sake! And the smiles in that context can be pretty creepy. The male judges have been so weird about the women smiling this season. I didn't get where the judges were coming from with the critique of the girls not liking the routine.

Loving Paula! She offers constructive criticism like a BOSS.

Yay, Sonya!  Great opening group routine! And stage group routine.

LOVED the creepy carnival group street dance!  I suspect that dark vibe is what the judges wanted in the fish burlesque routine.
