I could see Goren being Reid's wingman when they socialized :) Goren would have been a good mentor to Reid since they were both outsiders in their own ways.

Before his health problems and weight gain, Vincent D'Onofrio (Goren) cut a fine figure in his suits and police uniform. I liked his quirky behavior and his offbeat insights into cases.

I don't mind if Reid's role is being a sounding board as long as the writers keep the characters' relationship platonic. I don't want CM to end up being another show where the main characters bed hop and it devolves into who is sleeping with who, who is crushing on who and how long will this marriage last? kind of prime time soap opera. At least by being a platonic sounding board, we'll see more Reid and maybe also see JJ realize that Reid isn't the silly geek she takes for granted.

I really enjoyed Law & Order: Criminal Intent. Robert Goren is very similar to Reid; both of them have schizophrenic mothers they are responsible for, fathers that abandoned them, and they are very cerebral. Goren solves the cases using profiling as well as other detective methods. One difference is Goren's character is a bit more socially aware and is much more comfortable around the ladies. I've seen a few fanfics that feature Goren and Reid, maybe one or two. Toward the end of the series, the writing nosedived and they heaped too much angst on Goren's character but overall I was sad to see it canceled.

I hope that Lynch isn't available. I agree with ForeverAlone who said the writers should be able to come up with an adult story line for Reid that doesn't involve his parents.

Any guesses to what the "big splash" would be to bring Diana Reid back?

I'm afraid that JJ will have marital issues, turn to Reid and possibly hook up with him. I really hope that I'm wrong. Please, writers don't go there!
