If Ashton had three stripes, we’d constantly hear about how the stripes should be respected. It’s so awfully misogynistic this season it gives me a stomach ache to watch. And I watch to escape, not be made ill!

I am not enjoying this season and this episode only reinforced that for me. I miss the old show that had a story which the characters never seemed to take too seriously.
I’ve always been interested in the core characters on this show. It’s what drew me back. But the dumb sped up action sequences and the ongoing angst have taken a toll. It’s not a show I want to watch anymore. And that seems sad yet inevitable after this half season.

Joe once told an interviewer that he is Mika’s stylist...back before they were married and trying to explain why they were always together.
I watched for the first time in months today and was surprised by how centered it is on Joe and Mika. There are few discussions; monologues by Joe have replaced them. Mika’s role has been diminished even more. She is no co-host; she’s barely a sidekick. Some of you have mentioned the stares and leaning. It’s just hard to watch. If that’s their A game, they’ve really slipped.

Oakville would know better, but I believe that there’s tension between Mika’s daughters and Joe, so she tends to spend time with them without him. Her daughters did not attend the wedding ceremony but did come after for photos.

CJR has a story on Halperin that mentions the Scarboroughs’ ongoing support for Halperin right up front. So, both the online only show Joe & Mika were going to do with Halperin and the segment Mika did on him were done without the knowledge of the MSNBC brass? How have they accumulated such power? I realize we ask this regularly, but it’s really amazing how much they get away with on the network.

Apparently, when Oliver Darcy, CNN’s media reporter, asked the networks if Halperin was welcome, CNN and ABC said no, while MSNBC ... declined to comment. That countdown clock ticking to his reappearance on Morning Joe just got louder.
By the way, Darcy also spoke to one of Halperin’s accusers. She says he never reached out to apologize.
Update: MSNBC got back to Darcy and said Halperin won’t be on the network. Do you think they had to clear their statement with Joe and Mika first?

I don’t watch the show much anymore but did watch today to see if there was any updates on the massacres. Mika is a disaster. I don’t understand why she thinks commenting as other people speak is appropriate or acceptable. She twice said something while Beto was speaking and he stopped then started again. Awkward.
Morning Joe is not a news show. It’s Regis and Kathie Lee reborn, with Mika doing the mugging for the cameras. Maddeningly, she’s doing it during discussions of national tragedies. (No insult meant to Regis or Kathie Lee.)

NBC has refused to allow Mika & Joe to be the sole anchor's on the Mueller testimony.
It’s something I ponder - why is Joe, a former Congressman, never used as a commenter when there are Congressional hearings? Personally I’d rather listen to David Jolly, but hasn’t Joe told us he’s personally responsible for all that is good in Congress? And isn’t Mika the one that taught Pelosi to KYV? Just weird they wouldn’t anchor the hearings...

Interesting to me that Mika has interviewed both Pelosi and Biden and neither interview made news. That would seem to be a major fail for a news anchor, no?

Joe predicted Trump would win because he was sucking up to Trump, whose winning he facilitated every single day. As he did then, and as he does now, he bashed Clinton at every opportunity, and predicting a Trump win was another kudgel.
Interesting how he never mentions his role in getting Trump elected and all the free airtime and softball questions he offered him. Did I miss his acknowledging that today?

2016 and part of 2017. Donald Trump. Joe sucked up to him daily. Mika did as well - remember when she promised not to ask him a hard question and it was caught on a hot mic? Or their visit to Trump Tower during the transition? Or to Mar-A-Lago on New Year’s Eve? They sucked up until Trump attacked Mika. And Mika continues to suck up to Ivanka.
As has been said, sucking up to political types is what they do unless they are trying to impress that person with how smart they are. Then Joe doesn’t shut up and Mika makes guttural noises while he talks.
They are major suck ups.

Does Joe actually refer to the show as “The Morning Joe Sound Machine” these days? In the ad for the show during the Dem debate that’s what he calls it, so I ‘m kind of confused. Does he see everyone as backup to his lead? (Yes, I get the reference to the Miami Sound Machine, but it seems weird.)
