I find that some of the dialogue gets muddled and that I'm missing a few crucial words here and there. I'm not sure what the Empress is up to with Mei Lin - what's her angle? I'm still bored to death with the princess's storyline - am I supposed to care about her trying to run away with her lover? Oh, and Marco has the worst family ever.

I still have a lot of the same problems with this show that I had in the pilot, but for some weird reason I'm still watching. The gratuitous nudity is getting to be comical, and I'm still bored to tears with Marco and his interest in the princess, and I'm definitely more interested in the stuff that focuses more on the Khan.

Better than the pilot. There was less jumping back and forth between a million plot lines and characters, which helped keep my interest. That said, the naked kung fu was completely ridiculous, and I'm already tired of Marco's anvilicious upcoming romance with the princess. I'd like to see more character development for the women on this show (minus the princess, she already bores me) - right now they seem to only kill people while naked, have sex and say shocking things to men.

What an awful pilot. Terribly one-dimensional characters (everybody is a complete stereotype - the power-hungry chancellor, the son who has something to prove, the concubine who is willing to sleep with anyone to get ahead, etc.), bad plot pacing and generally insulting to anyone with roots in Asia (there was so much blatant "ooh look at how exotic this is!"). The only thing that I liked was the beautiful cinematography for the outdoor scenes - other than that, just awful. That said, I'll probably watch a few more episodes to see if it gets better.

This is literally the best post I've read on these forums yet. I'm confused too. So much fuss was made by the Pakistani government over them NOT being in league with Haqqani, and now they're just openly protecting and providing services to him.

Just catching up on this show after a few weeks of vacation, and have to say that I loved this episode. I was engrossed the entire episode, and they've somehow made all of the characters more interesting and likeable than past seasons, even the ones that I didn't like (Maggie). I'm going to miss this show when it wraps up.

I read the same too. I post/lurk on a popular hockey board, and Panthers attendance is a de facto banned topic on that board because of how personal the debate gets for some folks, so I'm going to err on the side of just saying that yes, attendance is really bad for the Panthers this season, and leave it at that! I wonder if Ekblad can become a bit of a star and use that star power to make the team more popular though.

Couldn't agree more. While Danes killed it in the first two seasons (and fully deserved those Emmys), I think she's overdone the breakdown/cry-acting thing a bit in the last two seasons, but when she does more subtle stuff like the Fara's dad phonecall scene, she is absolutely stellar.

Honestly, the atmosphere is heavily dependent on the nature of the game. I've been to 4 games at the ACC this season so far, and it was 50/50. The atmosphere was amazing for 2 of them (it was an exciting, fast-paced game, the Leafs were playing well, and eventually won), and horrid for the other 2 (the Leafs played like they didn't want to be there and lost, with a large goal differential). It made for vastly different experiences, though it was particularly different for me each time since I was cheering the opposing team during 2 of those games and the Leafs during the other 2 games...

Forgot to add that when Max and Carrie were talking about Fara having done well, I couldn't help but roll my eyes - yes, it's sad that her character was killed but no, she was NOT doing well. Granted, they didn't know about her safehouse screw-up, but I sure did...

Peter Quinn for President. Or at the very least, CIA Director. Aside from Quinn, though, the CIA as depicted on this show has got to be the worst intelligence agency in the entire world. Lockhart was ridiculously stupid this week (what, he thought Haqqani would say "OK, thanks, have a good day, we'll leave through the front door now"?!) and the Ambassador and her husband pissed me off beyond belief. Saul frustrated me (you know Quinn would have remembered as much as possible even after the ordeal Saul went through) and I wish Carrie had just left. I think she's going to end up being a huge burden for Quinn...

S01.E03: Smile, Or Go To Jail

Honestly, there are so many problems with this show - characterization, plotting, etc. - but I'm a sucker for a whodunnit, so I'm going to stick it out for the rest of the season, although I really should know better than to try to follow a Shonda/Shonda-minion show. -
The return of hockey has made me want to cancel all my plans and stay at home every night, except for the games that I'm going to live! I went to a Leafs/Sabres preseason game back in early September - I sat in row 7 directly behind the visiting team's net, which of course has subsequently spoiled me for every game I'll ever go to subsequently, since those seats would be ridiculously priced during a regular season game and I'm not paying hundreds of dollars for one freaking ticket. I then went to my first regular season game last Saturday - Leafs/Penguins. Full disclosure - my #1 team is the Blackhawks, but I've got the Pens and the Leafs as my #2/3 and my Eastern Conference teams, so that was supposed to be a bit of a conflicting game for me... except that the Leafs deserved to lose that game (they played atrociously), and I was rocking my Crosby jersey (not completely) alone at the top of the ACC with Leafs Nation (getting heckled a bit), so it just made me cheer more loudly for the Pens. ;) I'm actually going to the Leafs/Red Wings game tomorrow night and think that I have finally decided to take the plunge and buy myself a Leafs (Bernier!) jersey. The NHL has my money, that's for sure, and my bank account curses the day I became a hockey fan. Right now I'm trying to decide between watching Pittsburgh vs. Dallas (also have to admit that I've got a soft spot for Dallas because I've got all kinds of love for the hockey bromance that is Benn & Seguin, but...GO PENS GO!) or Montreal vs. Boston tonight. Even though I have lived in Toronto for 20+ years and cheer for the Leafs as a secondary team, I have to admit (thank you for anonymity, internet) that I've got a bit soft spot for the Habs, I love Carey Price, and absolutely detest Boston, and I'm also a sucker for an epic rivalry, so I've got good enough reason to watch either game tonight. Decisions, decisions! I don't disagree with you on that front. The corporate types are exactly what I was referring to earlier in terms of keeping the ticket prices so high and ensuring that games are pretty much always sold out, even though half of them aren't really there to watch the game.

I didn't say anything about hoping that she'll be a friend to Quinn, but I personally didn't see any romantic chemistry between them, and it has nothing to do with size.

I've loved Quinn for so long now that I'm confused about what I want for him. I selfishly want him to stay in this job because he's awesome at it, I like watching him kick ass and I love his dynamic with Carrie, but at the same time, it's quite obvious at this point that he should move on since the job is making him hate himself, and he deserves so much better than that.
