  1. There were ways to have a season 2 without ending it like this. Had the Amma reveal been teased out slowly over a second season I could’ve gone with it. One of the themes of this show was that people (men in particular) constantly underestimate women. I think you could have explored that with Camille in a season 2. She is the one who most thought the killer was a woman but in season 2 she also wouldn’t want to believe Amma did it so that might’ve been interesting. I don’t think Amma would kill Camille. She loves her and wants her attention above all else. If Adams said yes to a second season I imagine at least part of it would be them on the run as I don’t think Camille would turn her in and doesn’t want to lose her
  2. Good question And how exactly did Amma & Friends place Natalie there without anyone noticing? And then they just skated there with the victims BROTHER for god knows how long? The body wasn’t really hidden. How did no one notice?
  3. Also there’s this: Adora is one of the most selfish, monstrous people ever put on film? Is she seriously just going to take this? What is she actually in prison for? Marian? Just Amma and Camille? What actual evidence is there against her for Ann and Natalie?
  4. Isn’t that Kelsey and Jodes? And speaking of them, what is their motive? Amma is manipulative but was she really able to manipulate two otherwise seemingly not al girls into killers? I mean, I really can’t get over how silly this is
  5. I’m sorry, that ending about ruined the series for me. Just horrible. Beyond the fact that Amma being the killer was ridiculous IMO and not nearly foreshadowed well enough, I literally laughed when Amma said “don’t tell mama” I presume laughter was not what they were going for. The twist was not only unearned (despite what Vallée and Gillian Flynn said in the equally laughable explainer after the show) but completely unnecessary! I actually thought it was ending beautifully with Camille and Amma helping each other, starting a life etc. It really was beautifully shot and acted and Amy Adams got flash her megawatt smile a few times. And ruined for what? A jump scare and classic rock? Horrible. Particularly without a season 2 to flesh this out or take the story in another direction (like I’m not so certain that Camille would turn her in, I’d sign up for 8 episodes of Amma and Camille on the run) it was hugely disappointing Flynn is 100% a hack mystery writer. Great writer of character and mood but a hack at actually writing a mystery
  6. Oh I definitely think this is heading toward la some kind of lame ending as far as the “mystery” is concerned. A good mystery leaves you satisfied at the end because when the culprit is revealed everything you’ve read or seen before locks into place and you should wonder how you didn’t see it coming. There has been absolutely nothing so far in this show that has even indicated that Amma is violent, let alone capable of two cold blooded murders. What’s the most violent thing she’s done? Put a lollipop in her sister’s hair? If it’s Adora and Alan I can live with it. If they make it Amma or bust out Ashely or some shit as a last minute murderer it will be unjustified and depending on how it was handled could ruin the show for me
  7. http://twitter.com/sepinwall/status/1032424336962015237 Should’ve known it would take Thanos to clean up Wind Gap
  8. I didn’t really mean to suggest that Camille was sexualizing Amma. I can’t say the same on Amma’s end for sure. The scene was played that way to give it that edge and tension that it otherwise might not have had. In a normal family two sisters sleeping in the same bed would not be abnormal at all. Camille resisted it though I think because on some level she knew what Amma was doing and had at least some concern about what might happen. Camille is someone who is very lonely and doesn’t have much affection in her life. Her only friends appear to be her boss and his wife. She’s also stuck in kind of an arrested development where she relates better to teenagers than adults. She’s been most open with Alice, John and Amma. So while she knows she shouldn’t be sleeping with John and doing all that crazy shit with Amma, she can’t resist because she wants that closeness and affection from people who she thinks understand her. She can’t get that from Richard. That’s an adult relationship that she’s completely unprepared for.
  9. The other thing with Camille having sex with John is this: Is she really 100% zero doubt that he’s innocent? I don’t see how she could be. Just a really weird decision
  10. Camille may not have intended to have sex with him but she gave him some horrible advice that led them to that hotel room where it probably became inevitable. She told him that he shouldn’t turn himself in drunk so he should hide out at the hotel until he sobered up. Sounds reasonable enough, but all he really needs to do is turn himself in and ask for a lawyer. Then the problem is solved. Maybe she just saw a kindred spirit or something and wanted to help, but it was horrible advice that ultimately put them both in a bad spot. Then again, this same woman was in a weird, creepy and near sexual situation with her 13 year old sister less than 24 hours earlier so this is a consistent problem for her Im starting to think Camille has some really deep psychological issues she needs to work on lol
  11. No the g-tube nurse was the fired nurse’s friend who still worked at the hospital that she suggested Richard see if she wanted info on “the other one”, i.e. Amma
  12. Yeah the extent of Amma’s illnesses as stated in the medical records don’t really jive with the seemingly healthy, developed and athletic young girl we’ve seen.
  13. Just like there’s no way that Adora was actually making those grilled cheeses Amma wanted. You know it’s the maid. Made Adora’s fake moralizing even worse. “I think you’re old enough to make your own grilled cheese”. Bitch, so are you.
  14. Kind of like when Amma ran off during Calhoun Day. Adora made a huge scene but didn’t move her ass an inch to actually look for her. Of course, if Adora is the murderer she knows Amma has nothing to fear. Is not just Amma though. Her whole crew including the guys seem to be out every night. Nobody’s parents seem all that concerned Speaking of that, is it supposed to be summer vacation or are they in school during the day?
  15. He was very harsh but wasn’t completely wrong. She has to take responsibility for her behavior and decisions. She’s an adult. She knows it’s not right to have sex with the HS kid who is wanted for murder. Yeah, she’s had a shitty life and she needs help. That doesn’t mean you can do whatever you want consequence free. Same goes for Amma too.
  16. I mentioned the lack of mayor or any democratic institution really, but you’re right. Who exactly called Richard? And actually, kidnapped children cases do come under the FBI’s purview, so theoretically if someone had called them (like Natalie’s parents!!!) they would’ve come and taken over the case. As for Camille, I’m not so willing to let her off the hook even though you’re correct. She’s stable enough to make a phone call to the proper auhorities. Or at the very least to race home and not leave Amma’s side until this is resolved. Or pack her a fricking bag and put her in the car when Adora goes to sleep
  17. Yeah, I agree. At the beginning I did wonder if this would end up being a Black Sawn type situation where Amma either wasn’t real or that the stuff she was doing was just in Camille’s head. As for the editor, I took it as he just thought she was having another mental break and wanted her to leave immediately (but again with the lack of urgency, can’t he and his wife drive to Wind Gap and drag her home of hey believe this is an emergency?) Does the editor even know Amma exists? He may not even know what she’s talking about when she says that she has to “finish this” or whatever
  18. Excellent find. And much like It Follows, no one here is acting with the required urgency for the situation. The murder investigation seemed to be more of a nuisance to Vickery than a huge priority as it should be in such a small town. And I mentioned this in an earlier post but Camille’s complete lack or urgency or action in what is clearly an emergency situation just flooded me. She now knows that Adora killed Marion and she just saw Amma sick under mysterious circumstances that morning. This is an extreme emergency situation that Amma needs to be taken away from immediately. But she does nothing. She even seems to drive around aimlessly for hours, not arriving home until it’s pitch black. She doesn’t call protective services. She doesn’t tell her editor. She doesn’t do anything. I don’t doubt that she cares about Amma and wants to help but she takes no steps. Even Richard. He’s a police officer and a mandatory reporter. He does nothing. There is more than enough reasonable suspicion to have Amma removed temporarily. Why doesn’t he do anything?
  19. She was absolutely aiding and abetting. She knew John had a warrant out for him and not only didn’t alert the police of his whereabouts but actively sheltered him
  20. Yes, exactly Even the scene where Amma snuck into Camille’s room was weird. It wasn’t that she didn’t know the password on the laptop, it almost looked like she didn’t know how to turn it on or how to use it. Maybe it was just that it had no power but it was just very weird to me
  21. Very true, but it’s still odd. The Crellins have an $80,000 stereo but no flat screen? They’re very wealthy but never bought Amma a computer or an Xbox? But you’re right about the mood. I just wish it had been out there a little more. Something almost supernatural about it
  22. Something interesting that the show hasn’t dwelled on but is interesting nonetheless is how Wind Gap is kind of a town out of time. It’s almost a feudal lordship. There don’t seem to be any democratic institutions. No Mayor or city council that we’re shown (and usually the small town mayor is a character in stories like this). Somebody is paying Vickery and the deputies but Adora seems to have the power to fire him herself. The town has internet but it’s nowhere near as central or ubiquitous as it should be in 2018. No one has mentioned checking the murdered girls social media. We’ve seen a lot of teenagers getting together and no one has mentioned Instagram or Twitter. Camille has followed Amma to a hog farm but has never appeared to have considered checking her Facebook to see what she’s been up to. Ashley mentions wanting to be in the paper several times but no girl her age would care about that. They want to be viral. In fact, I’m pretty sure that the only place we’ve seen a television was at the wine mom’s house where they were watching beaches. We’ve seen several teenagers rooms and I don’t recall seeing a single tv, computer or video game. Stuff almost all kids have at least one of now. Moreover, the citizens don’t seem to make use of any service beyond the borders of the town. All Jackie had to do to help was make one call to child protective services. Wind Gap May be an insulated community but they’re part of a county and state where there are laws and departments and bureaucracies that are there to handle these situations. But she doesn’t even seem to have considered this bare minimum step Its just very odd and I wish it had been explored more
  23. I think it’s deliberately ambiguous. I don’t think it’s out of the realm of possibility that Camille forgot how old Amma was or lost track of what grade she was supposed to be in. She didn’t even recognize her at first in Episode 1.
  24. Camille is also pretty lucky she didn’t get arrested in that motel. It wasn’t statutory rape but she most certainly aided and abetted a wanted man when she knew there was an APB out for him and obstructed justice by not turning him in.
