I was really worried going into this because I’d heard mixed reviews and I’m a fan of the books that I’ve read (I’m still working my way through and about halfway through the series), but I thought it was great. These books have to have been challenging to translate to the screen and the characters, settings, etc. felt right on to me despite any changes. Thing I didn’t love as much: The costuming is a little off? Some of it feels super modern and some of it feels traditional fantasy. I’m fine with it being it’s own thing because it’s a fictional world, but occasionally the costumes took me out of a scene a bit because I couldn’t tell what they were going for. But everything else I really enjoyed. The trolloc attack was INCREDIBLE. Scary and suspenseful. The characters are distinct and have their own personalities and motivations. Any awkwardness that comes with the exposition of a pilot and the building of a large fantasy world I can excuse, especially if it evens out as we go forward. Can’t wait to watch the rest!

I guess I’m in the minority, because I’ve been really enjoying it and am sad it’s being cancelled. I hope someone else picks it up! It’s not perfect, but there’s a ton of potential. I feel like they’ve done a nice job of updating the comic to a more modern place and 355 is PERFECT. Yorick is so useless and it’s just great; I love that the only person with a Y chromosome to survive is such a dork. And it feels like the story is just picking up momentum at the end of the season so I’d love to see what they’d do with a season 2.

I liked NY Andrea and felt like her win made sense from a business standpoint for Amazon. But Gary was absolutely the best designer of the group. I was really hoping that Jeremy would offer him a mentorship or something, but hopefully he gets his confidence up enough to keep his brand going for all of us to buy. Looking at the stores on Amazon, 3rd Place Andrea’s just looks uncomfortable, NY Andrea’s runway collection did NOT transfer well to retail - loved it in the episode, have zero interest in the pieces they’re selling - and Gary’s stuff is gorgeous so of course is totally sold out. But his merch store has some really cute tshirts for $20, so I’ll support him that way for now!
