  1. It seems odd to me to see a hospital wedding for a patient with a brain ailment.  Lol. Your mind needs to be really clear.

The gown must have had sentimental value.  It reminded me of mine….from the 90’s!  Stylish back then.

I had to fast forward through some parts.  Immature adults wrecking things is not amusing, imo.

Guys be approaching me irl. Great right? NO! Either homeless or looking to use me in any way they can. Also why ask if I have kids when they look for hook ups. Or where I live/who I live with. Most are too old on top of that…

One guy is interested in me but he’s disabled, at least he isn’t homeless/no kids.

Does it matter what type of site you use? What about paid sites?  It seems those who are serious about dating would be motivated to join those.

I have no issue with someone with health issues. They may have a lot to offer.  I’m not sure how much I should  offer about myself.  My photo looks really healthy, but I manage a couple of things well that might not be apparent, like T1 diabetes.  It could be a turnoff, I suppose.

I really appreciate hearing how others experience midlife (and beyond) weight changes. I've been fit all my life (exercise was my therapy for ED recovery and still is), but I hit 40 a little bit before the pandemic, and between getting Covid, getting older, and getting over the bad pandemic-related habits I formed during the early 2020s, I've got an extra 20 pounds I'd like to lose. I'm a runner and always have been, but long Covid messed up my pace and endurance. Last year I had my first DNF during a marathon and it was a wake-up call. I was drinking and eating too much and running too little. I snack a lot, especially on things like crackers and nuts. On a bad day I probably consume 500 extra calories from snacking. My wife, on the other hand, eats three meals, no snacking, and has cut back on alcohol along with me, and she's almost at her goal weight. She exercises, eats and drinks the same as me, just no snacking. True, she's younger, but my healthy habits in my teens-thirties should give me a bit of an edge against perimenopause and aging. So I just have to stay the course and put away the crackers.

Thanks for letting me ramble. I think about this a lot--I'm not happy with my aging body and I don't want to live my life hating how I look. It does me no good to hate my body while stuffing it full of Cheez-its. That's not loving or kind to my body, which has honestly served me very well. I'm healthy despite a lengthy eating disorder in my teens and 20s. I recovered fully from Covid. I've never had cancer, diabetes, or any other major diseases. My body's been good to me and deserves to be treated well. And so do all of yours. <3

I’ve been diagnosed with post covid syndrome. It involves several issues since covid last year, one being smell/taste disorder.  I’ve still had to fight to get the weight down.  Snacking was my issue too.  I’ve had good success with keeping it to nonfat yogurt and carb smart bars.  I’ve cut way back on alcohol too.  Just a couple of glasses of wine on the weekends….and sometimes I skip that.  Something I hope to resume once I lose my last 20 pounds.

I’m not male, but was curious about your approach to ED therapy. Exercise worked?

AdBlock Plus also blocks YouTube ads, which I find amazing because I don't even get those annoying ads interrupting in the middle of videos.

Does anyone have any idea if ad blockers can affect your computer in other ways? Here’s my situation.  I’d like to avoid getting a tech involved….money and time…ugh.

My laptop has picked up on 3 different Wifi networks (trusted. One is mine) inside my office for years.  Never an issue. Then suddenly, I was unable to go online there using any of them!  I pick up wifi inside my home, inside my country home, and at friends’ homes, with no issue.  Just can’t go online inside my office!  I have watched YT videos on it. I’ve gone into computer settings and all looks right, but it doesn’t help.

Anyone ever heard of this before?  Oh, my ipad picks up the wifi there and other people are picking it up ok, so it’s not the wifi. Any suggestions would be appreciated.  Hopefully, AT&T can help me remotely, but that’ll take at least a half day.  I have to do something.

I love that suit @SunnyBeBe, and I’m not usually a purple person. It will show off the new you beautifully.

Thank you for the kind words.I hope to make a fresh start.  I feel better than I have in years, though I’m still dealing with some health issues.  And, I think I also mentioned upthread that I recently began dating a man I dated many years ago that I hadn’t seen in over 20 years!  So far, it’s really great!  I’m busy counting my blessings this spring. 🙏

  6. Hey everybody.  I just wanted to post my recent experience.  I went on a fitness/weight loss journey last year and was ready to start dating.  I go to a gym, but though friendly, no one there has asked me out.  I had a couple of longtime platonic male friends/colleagues ask me out, but I’m sort of wary of that due to our social cliches and how we run in same professional circles. So, I had just about decided  what I had to do. One day I was standing in my kitchen, staring out the window, thinking….no man is just going to pick up his phone, call me and ask me out….get a profile and date online like everyone else.  THEN, the next day, an old boyfriend that I had not seen in 22 years, called me out of nowhere and asked me out!   Really!  We’ve been dating now for about 2 months.  No labels, no expectations….which is what I want for now, but it’s good!  Fun, affectionate , exciting and comfortable.

Oh, about 2 weeks ago, an old male friend that  got divorced last year, called and asked me out!  I said yes, but we haven’t scheduled it. He lives about 2 hrs away.  I hadn’t seen him in several years.

I still might pursue online options.  I want to really enjoy my summer.  There are all kinds of possibilities!  Stay positive. I never would have guessed it was possible.

@Yeah No@SunnyBeBe or anyone else can I ask what age did you notice your weight starting to creep up and were you regular exercisers before?

I usually 6-7 times a week and do yoga or maybe Pilates 2-3 times a week.  I hate running but I walk my dogs.  I have some health issues not having to with weight but I do tire easily.  Have you found any low impact exercises you do like?  I’ve been thinking about golf.  I’m ok but just did it occasionally over the years. I hear pickle ball is fun but only see it offer at senior centers but could probably talk my husband into playing with me.

I would say I stayed in fairly good shape when I worked out and watched diet.  My late 40’s brought some muscle issues.  I got 2 frozen shoulders, constant muscle spasm in my back, sore, weak leg muscles and other issues.  I was under doctor’s care and in PT for a good while. Once, I joined a doctor supervised weight loss program, but wasn’t motivated.  Eventually, I got motivated and tired of not living the life I wanted.

I started out walking on a treadmill and using an elliptical machine. Then, added the stairstepper. Now up to 16 floors of stairs on it.  I do a little walking on outdoor track too.  I have a torn meniscus in right knee. Have to watch it.  Plan to start pickleball soon.  Hope my knee is up for it.  I also do strength training on equipment.  I joined the gym and they are very helpful.  I love it!  It’s very friendly.  Great social scene!  I feel so much better.

I think if that suit looks good on you, go for it. If a pro photographer is taking the photos they should make it work with the background. Will you have the option at the photo shoot to change outfits so you have a choice when you see the pictures?

Thanks to all for your input!  It helps me feel more comfortable being a little more progressive. Lol.

Jeeves, I won’t have a backup if this suit doesn’t work.  That site is for tailored garments. You send the measurements and they make it. It’s pricy…..but, worth it for a perfect fit.  My niece is a hair stylist and she’s doing it and my makeup.  Oh, forgot to say that it’s for my business, law firm.  I’ve never had one, and since I’ve lost weight and toned my light blonde hair down a little to a medium to dark blonde, feel ready to make my debut!  Lol  I’m not sure I want to wait on a suit to be made, so I may find a ready made one about the same color.

  9. I was prescribed Wegovy, but my insurance denied it.  So, I just continued on my own.  I’m ok with that.  Hopefully, I’ll maintain ok. My entire relationship with food has changed.  As have my food preferences.

I wonder if Whit is hoping to get pregnant, since weight loss.  That would really give the show a boost.

  10. I hope the birthday celebration was truly delightful!  Hope things are going well. 💐

May I get some input on your view of a professional image? I’m picking an outfit to wear for my photo that will go on my website. I would like for it to be professional, yet modern.  I would have normally gone with navy or dark gray, but saw a lavender option. Idk. Maybe, it doesn’t matter.

  11. That’s a lot to deal with.  Some bodies just hang on to weight.  I have no explanation for how I was able to get down my pounds.  I still have about 20 more to go. Then skin surgery.  Ugh…..where to start?  I have focused on nutrition a lot and some days I didn’t get many calories.  I focus on getting at least 1200.  My nutritionist at Duke says they can’t condone less than that.  Plus, my workouts….still, some weeks I don’t lose.  I have hypothyroidism that is managed with medication. It doesn’t bother me at all and my levels have stayed good for many years.

Have you considered getting av second opinion?  Or seeing an endocrinologist? Also, I do intermittent fasting which helps break some plateaus.  Hang in there!

  12. It’ll be nice for them to stop the ditzy behavior from Leah. Since they put her as a mom, the writing for her is not good, imo.  I’ve never liked her character very much, but the new behavior….ugh.

I wish they’d let Glassman be healthy.

Congratulations on your weight loss!  I lost 25 lbs. from 2022-2023 on my own without drugs.  I wish I could have taken one because I reached a plateau that I can't get off no matter what I do and I still need to lose about 40 lbs. to get where I want to be.  I gained back 5 lbs. over the Winter.  The weather was horrible and it was harder for me to get enough exercise.  So far I have lost 1 of them so I'm considering that a win.  I was put on Metformin at a weight loss program at my local hospital but it made me sick to my stomach so I had to stop and they didn't recommend any of the injectables because they told me I'd likely have the same reaction and I don't want to risk it.  I tend to be very sensitive to meds. and can only take a small amount of any dose as it is.  With injectables there isn't the option to go below a certain dose and then you're stuck with it for weeks if you have a bad reaction.

So I don't begrudge Whit or anyone for using these drugs.  I just wish they could be honest about it as there's no shame in it and they should be helping others to feel free to do it if it works for them.

One thing I liked about the Oprah special was that she brought out how people without a weight problem don't even think about what they eat.  Well, as someone who was one of those people until menopause I can say that's true, but it's not true of everyone.  Some slim people are mindful of what they eat for health reasons.  I got more mindful of that even before menopause.

I also liked that she finally realized it's often not someone's fault for their weight issues.  I have been saying that for years about both her and myself.  I was recently diagnosed with Hashimoto's Thyroiditis although so far they are not attempting to put me on thyroid hormone.  My mother had that and it was for sure behind her and my weight issues post-menopause.

What I didn't like is that the whole show felt like an infomercial for the weight loss drugs.  I wished it could have been longer and addressed more issues despite that.

Whit was prediabetic at one point. Has she mentioned that in the media lately?
The weight loss should help her blood sugar numbers,  if she’s type 2.

I get what you say about stubborn pounds.  I got good results after consulting with the nutritionist in my endocrinologist’s office.  We examined my food plan (I developed myself) and she made suggestions to maximize my goals.  I must maintain muscle.  I’ve learned that is as important as losing fat.  She encouraged me to increase my calories, because I was too low. My fat is stubborn.  Plus, I’m type I diabetic and on insulin pump.  Insulin can cause weight gain, so I watch my carbs.  Still, it’s been a good experience.  I’m goingto write a book about it.  Lol. Of course, I suspect a lot of people lose weight now, since they may take injectables.

Oprah has very recently admitted to using Ozempic to achieve her most recent weight loss and has stepped down from her role at Weight Watchers as a result because she didn't achieve it with diet alone.

She recently aired a special on ABC entitled "Shame, Blame and the Weight Loss Revolution" on this subject.  It's on "On Demand" as well as Hulu.

Kelly Clarkson is not admitting to using any drugs but I am not convinced of that.

Oprah’s special was pretty good.  It only covered a little though. There’s so much more.

I think I’ve posted before that I suspect many people think that I used injectables for weight loss. But, I didn’t.  I have a tight diet full of nutrition and a daily workout schedule.  I suppose I shouldn’t care what people think.  For me, I just got inspired to live my best life.  If wasn’t all that difficult.  I lost most of my 75 pounds since last July.  A few more to go.

I do look forward to seeing how Whit portrays daily life if she’s losing weight.

Fellow Ed despiser here, but anybody else really want the recipe for Taco Pasta now? Must be earth shattering.

I’m not sure why they focused so much on the food they were preparing when the fight broke out. It seems to me that Liz enjoys the fights as much as Ed.  They choose to do it over and over.  I’m so bored with it.  Ugh….

  16. I did finish the episode…..oh my….it’s really pitiful.

So, the explanation they were giving Alex about no longer being a couple with his girlfriend was so convoluted. Lol.  He looked confused.  They were full of it.  Guess they were trying to make him feel better.
