  1. Gawd, I just adore Jackie Chan. He radiates warmth and charm and sincerity, and while I don't really watch his movies, I'm so happy that he's getting an honorary Oscar. And aside from breaking a lot of ground for Asian actors in Hollywood and having a reputation as a "nice guy", he does so much charity work - especially for children across Asia.

I  liked her. Tina Fabulous had lots of brothers and she could thread the needle and go deep for a pass with a football while wearing stilettos. The other b'ettes gave her that nickname. She was also a little cool to the Bachelor, letting him chase her, it seemed to me. Here is an interview with her from back in the day (she was 22! Ridiculous): http://www.tvguide.com/news/tina-fabulous-jeers-40983/

Wait - she was only 22?!?! Damn, when I was 22 I still sometimes played with my old Barbies and wore overalls :P I could have sworn this woman was in her 30's just by looks and how she carried herself. Unreal.

  3. IMO, the most physically attractive leads have been Jake, Aaron, Charlie, and Chris (purely on looks). Factor in personality, and I'd say Charlie, Andrew, and Matt from the U.K. For the B'ette's,  Deanna for looks alone, but personality, Jillian. I wanted to like Ashley, but she definitely came off as too insecure, needy and I don't ever recall her saying anything of substance (though I realize that bar is set low on this show).

My favorite season to watch was probably Andrew's. Likeable lead, there was the added story of his wealth, the girls were fun to watch, I loved to hate Jen, and it just felt like a good time. Also, I was a sucker for Tina Fabulous, though all these years later I can't remember what made her so special. Can anyone remind me?

Least favorite was Juan Pablo's season - not because he sucked (I loved hate-watching him), but because I thought his girls were very "meh" and not nearly catty/interesting enough for my liking.

I really can't stand Sean, have zero opinion on Catherine, but I find that couple very creepy, weird, and just wrong in some way. It could just be the religion thing. I feel like we're all supposed to adore them, but I just don't :(

I definitely preferred the earlier seasons when you COULD joke about/refer to the absurdity of the whole situation, and while there was some talk of The Right Reasons, the vibe was way more lighthearted. Now, we get cutaways every 2.5 minutes to the lead giving talking head confessionals about how person X could be their husband/wife, they can imagine themselves growing old with them, and how important it was that they learned about <insert family tragedy here> because now they REALLY know them. For that reason, I don't like Nick, because while others see him being more "real" about the process, to me he's the biggest, most self-important blow-hard I've seen on this show. Every time I hear him speak, it's as if he's talking about the most.important.thing.in.the.world. Just say you want to get laid and be famous - you're not fooling anyone with that false sincerity.
And that is why I can't hate Juan Pablo - because he made this ridiculous show even more ridiculous, and as a Wrong Reasons viewer (clearly), that's what I want to see!

  4. Stefan - I have a thing for the asshole types (I am *almost* ashamed).

Isaac - Loved his personality. He'd be fun to just hang out with.

Angelo (this time I *am* ashamed). I just think he's pretty and awkwardly cute.

Michael Volt - I dig his swagger.

Harold - my original Top Chef boyfriend. That pencil behind the ear- swoon!

Dale T. - I don't understand it either, it just is.

TRE. TRE. TRE. for obvious reasons (hello, arms).

  5. I love it when people make their own assumptions on what went down (footage we weren't shown) to affirm their personal opinions, completely disregarding the statements and actions of the people who were actually there. There's a reason Hannah didn't win. Some of you want to make a case for her being this brilliant player with great strategy, but she didn't get a single vote. No one respected her game. So where are you getting your ideas from?! So, what, the entire jury is sexist and ageist, and didn't vote for Hannah based on her gender and youth? C'mon.

  6. True - but in a sense the public does dictate who appears on magazine covers. A Kardashian or Jennifer Lawrence will always sell more copies than a Lara Stone or Kayla Scott, so publishers and advertisers are catering to that demand. I also didn't mean to sound disparaging - Chantal from last season (or 2 seasons ago?) parlayed a social media career into steady work, and her star is on the rise. It's not always a bad thing.

  7. Rimmel is sold in most drugstores across Canada, so I assume it's also available in the States. To me, it's just as popular as Revlon or Maybeline, and their ads are pretty big. It's nothing to sneeze at if they get a major campaign with Rimmel (though they'll probably just get a single ad that will be used on some hidden website page that no one will ever see).

I really love India's look. India and eyebrow girl (Courtney?) look the most modelesque to me. The others look like Instagram models - pretty girls with nice bodies, but not for editorial. I like Tatianna's attitude and look, but she's very commercial. Ditto Marissa - didn't care for her sob story, but I like her overall. Cherish could maybe pull off high fashion, but she needs to get her skin and personal style in check. Giah is the most non-model of the bunch, and I don't even think she's attractive at all. Her personality also comes off as contrived for TV, so not digging her. Equally do not see Justine's appeal, and she has zero charisma - had higher hopes for the "token Asian".

I don't know who is behind trying to make Rita Ora happen in the US - I feel like the industry has been pushing her on to the North American market for the last couple of years, despite us making it clear we aren't interested. She's ok - she's pretty and she speaks well, but I fail to see how she's qualified to judge a modeling competition (I can't believe I wrote that with a straight face). I like the other judges though.

I think they rolled out the "be a boss" theme because they know the only success these girls will have is on social media, shilling products on Instagram. North American audiences have lost interest in high fashion modeling - most can't name any working models other than Kendal Jenner and Gigi Hadid.

  8. I will be so pissed if Billy wins this season. Sundance is the only one whose music I will listen to and buy, and I don't even like country - I'm a die hard jazz/blues/Motown fan. I would also pay to see him in concert. Billy? Would pay someone to turn his music off.

My fiance and I observed that Billy doesn't have character to his voice, so that may be his undoing. He has a good range, but he's very often off key, and his voice doesn't sound special - it's just a nice voice. Whereas if I heard Sundance, Josh, Brendan, We, etc. on the radio, I'd instantly know who I was listening to. Also, I think in terms of marketability, Billy falls flat. He's not good looking, not particularly stylish, doesn't have charisma - who is going to buy his records other than the little old ladies who remember him as the cute kid who sang country? Josh has the looks, Sundance has the "persona", We has the style and charisma - Billy brings nothing to the table. Also,  singing "My Way" on a singing competition show where he's told what to wear, what to sing, where to go, etc., is ridiculous. He's not doing anything his way - he's doing what Adam and producers are telling him to do. Never mind that Billy lacks the emotional maturity to interpret that song, it's just a downright silly choice. I don't usually get my panties in a bunch over song interpretation, but that performance was borderline offensive to me.

I have also been rooting for We, but was deeply disappointed by her song choices. Ave Maria is not to be taken lightly, and I feel like it was put in a lower key to accommodate Alicia's alto voice. Then we got that shittastic original song that sounds like it was written by a 14 year old Emo kid - seriously was shocked to learn it was written by a pro. And lastly, Rain on My Parade was technically good, but these performances don't give the viewers any indication of who We is as an artist, or what her music will sound like. Opera to Pop(?) to Show tunes - I get they wanted to show versatility, but this was not the place for it.

Surprised at how much I liked Josh's original song (liked the lyrics a lot), and Sundance's - was impressed by their songwriting abilities and happy they wrote their own jams. I was very confused by Billy's (got a weird possessive vibe from it), and cannot stress how shitty I thought We's song was. Alicia - you really couldn't put something together for the girl?

When's the last time any of the other contestants has said how nice Ken is? The only person I've seen him be "nice" to is Hannah and that's probably just because she's giving him the attention and adoration he wants. I never believed Ken would have aligned himself with David and Jessica if he had any other options.

Chris, in an interview after he was voted out, said that Ken was exceedingly nice, and that he really is a kind and genuine person. Let me find a quote...

Chris: Ken’s an enigma. He’s a puzzle to me. He’s a super, super nice guy. Maybe that’s what throws people off, is that he’s so nice. But sometimes he’s maybe not aware of what he’s droning on about: the moonlight, the lavender around his shower, that kind of stuff…"

Wigler: The lavender around his shower? What does that mean?

Chris: I don’t know. There’s like purple lavender around his shower in Hawaii, or something. There was lots of poetic talk. Sometimes people were like, “What is he talking about?” But Ken’s a super nice guy at the same time, and he’s this massive, ripped-up guy, good-looking. Maybe that combination didn’t work at the time, but he’s just too nice a guy not to like him.

I'm just pissed because I really expected Ken to have this stealth strategy that would be under the radar the whole game, and then he'd have some brilliant moment where he'd pull a key move and everyone would be in awe of Ken, the Survivor Strategist. But alas...I think I gave him too much credit.

  10. I don't think Adam is selfish or wrong to have signed up for the show. He's said in interviews that his mom encouraged him to do it, and that it was something SHE wanted - to see her son on Survivor. He also referred to it being something she could root for every week, something to keep her going. I really doubt that a guy like Adam, who despite being a bit annoying, seems like a salt of the earth kinda guy (hello, he manages a homeless shelter for a living!), went on Survivor just to win a million bucks - dying mother be damned! I think it's something he's wanted to do, and then felt motivated by his mom's request that he go for it. I've grown to really like Adam, and I'm rooting for him.

I never understood the crying for loved ones until I moved to Thailand last year. I've always been close with my family, but never emotional - we dont hug or get all lovey dovey or anything. But being on my own in another country, where I have A LOT of time to myself and my own thoughts, I've reflected a lot on my family members and what they mean to me. I would think that similarly in Survivor, it's not about being apart for a month, it's having time to really think about what these people mean to you. Having time to think about little things you love or miss about them. Because it's not like you're going to work, or studying or doing any of the 'real-world' things that would normally occupy your thoughts. So yea, I can understand the tears and the outpouring of emotion, "my dad is my hero", "I would do anything for you", "I appreciate everything you've done for me", etc.

Oh Ken. You lost me tonight.

I HATE Will. Despite him and his stupid voice, and his Cartman-esque pouting to be taken seriously. I'm gobsmacked that Zeke kept it cool and didn't immediately vote his ass out for wanting to flip. And in hindsight, he should have.

Zeke was a fun villain, but I was rooting hard for his demise. Still, I hope he's invited back. Jay is going to take this thing, and I wouldn't even hate him for winning. He's played hard, dude. Bro.

  11. Some really terrible song choices here. Courtney was the worst. You can't just pick a song because you like it - you have to pick a song that lets you show off either your voice or your artistry (if you make the arrangement your own). Courtney did neither. Also, it's not that fast a song, and she was out of breath and off-key within the first few bars (and then never really recovered). Really disappointing.

Rocketman isn't a very dynamic song, but a dynamic singer can make it work. Aaron, unfortunately, is not a dynamic singer. I've really wanted to like him, since I thought he killed it on his I'll Take Care of You duet with Sa'Rayah, but I'm continuously let down by his performances. I'm not sure that Miley was the right coach for him, or that this is the right venue for his style of singing. Ah well, gave me a really good single that I'll be listening to long after this season is over :)

I hate country. Loathe it. But goshdarnit, I loved Sundance's performance! It's amazing to me that he sang that entire song with not single note out of place, not a phrase out of breath, and then you have singers (real singers with great voices) like Courtney, Ali, Billy, etc. who struggle to make it through a song. I think his voice really suits bluegrass - it has that tinny sound to it that I associate with bluegrass. Hubby and I loved it, and we're young urbanites who would never be caught dead listening to country music - it was something different, it was fun, and it was done competently.

Also surprised to really enjoy Brendan. For once, I agree with Adam. You could literally see halfway through the performance when Brendan just shut his eyes and let go. He's becoming a much more charismatic performer, and I too felt like Miley - like he was singing to me. Really nice connection there.

Christian was great as well. We also good, though I found her 'asides' to be a bit diva-ish. I don't even really like it when an established artist does that, but less so when an amateur does it. Like, who do you think you are, Whitney? Etta? Girl, cool it. I didn't think it was her strongest, but still very good (though I wish she had picked a different Billie song).

It really says something about the quality of the judging, when Miley Cyrus is not only the voice of reason, but the one who is making most sense. I'm over Alicia's earth mother shtick. Blake is either drunk, not drunk enough, or just sick of this show, and Adam starts speaking without a coherent thought in his head, and hopes to stumble upon a point as he yammers about this and that. Courtney should have been skewered for her performance, and ditto Aaron and Billy. But of course, no one is going to say anything other than "you found your yes" or "it's great what you do" or "you're really having a great time up there".

Billy is not a perfect vocalist by any means. He had pitch problems throughout, and really strained to hit some of those notes. I'm sick of Adam treating him like the second coming. On any other season where the competition was fiercer, Billy wouldn't even be considered a front-runner.

The talent this year is a bit weak :(

  12. Finally caught the episode.

Ok, I'm officially on the Kelly bandwagon now. Her convo with Nikki before elimination is the kind of girl power I like to see - women supporting women, but not by putting someone else down. I agree that it is practically an insult that Nate is still there, but Nikki had to go home for 2 good tattoos. Everyone keeps referring to Nate as some tattoo legend, but I am completely unimpressed with his work here, and with his shitty attitude. Also, every time he speaks it looks and sounds like he's reading from cue cards. There's no inflection in his voice, and it sounds so unnatural. Drives me crazy!

I hate skin tear tattoos because the style of skin rip is usually what we saw here - it looks more like bark than real skin.

I really loved Nikki's gypsy sketch, but I think she lost it a little in the proportions of the face. Like someone said upthread, the nose was a little too small, high,  and pushed in, and it threw off the whole thing. And the scarf didn't have the same richness that Kelly's had.

    Kelly for the win!

    Garver! <3 Always liked him.

EDIT: Ok, I looked up Nate's portfolio, and holy crap! He has some really beautiful work there - what the hell has he been doing on Ink Master? That's not even phoning it in, it's being in a coma while holding a tattoo gun. Is he really downplaying his skill as "strategy"??!?!

  13. Oh god, I missed the episode, but Nate is STILL THERE? As much as I don't like Nikki's attitude, I like her tattoos. Nate's best tattoo on the show is on par with Nikki's worst.

Agree that it better be Ryan, Kelly, and Gian in the finale. If Nate somehow takes Kelly's place, then I think I will riot (quietly, in my living room, so as not to wake the neighbors).

And , no, I don't care if Ryan never does a color tattoo. Do what looks good.

This is a show about being the best all-around tattoo artist, not being the best in one style. Ryan's awesome at what she does, but if she can't do colour, then she shouldn't still be here. This isn't a showcase; it's a competition that rewards versatility. I love Ryan's portfolio, but she hasn't shown herself to be as strong all-around as Kelly.

My problem with Nikki's attitude is that based on the edit (and that's all I can speak to), she came in with a chip on her shoulder. And I get that when you're a woman in a male-dominated industry, you may have had negative experiences that have given you that chip, but it's not fair for ANYONE to make generalizations and assume that they're always going to be treated poorly because of their gender/race/size/religion/looks, etc. Right off the bat, she was overly aggressive about putting people down, which is what drew fire from everyone else.

My issue with the women this year, is that they were put on teams. Stupid or not, that was the premise of the show. And sure, decide to support someone based on their anatomy if you want - that's your prerogative - but don't be shocked and defensive when the people ON YOUR TEAM feel betrayed by you. I'd be pissed if my teammate was blatantly supporting someone on another team and ignoring me, or straight up calling me out. Leaving gender out of it, to me that's just a shitty thing to do, and that's why I'm not impressed with the whole "girl power" routine.

If this weren't a season based on teams, I'd feel very differently, and I'd probably think it was rad as hell that the girls were coming together.

  15. I'm not sure what any of those stories from Katrina have to do with Bret....it's unfair that cops get painted with one broad brush, more so than any other profession. Also, Bret is an openly gay cop, which means he has a very different perspective and experience. And, I get the feeling that he DID tell Chris and some of the others about catching Taylor stealing food - when it was brought up at TC last week, no one seemed too shocked about it (compared with this week's revelation that he actually hoarded the food and everyone was gobsmacked). I think Bret  just didn't make a big deal about it, so as not to paint a target on himself. Just because he had this strategy during a game, doesn't mean it's how he conducts himself in real life, and in his profession.

And I guess this is exactly why Bret felt the need to lie about his job...because people will make unfair assumptions about his character.

  16. Tim Hendricks (guest judge) is super talented, so I was disappointed when they showed clips of his portfolio and they chose really generic pieces to highlight. He was also on Miami Ink with Nunez.

I say this as a fan of Ryan's work - the double standards are so completely unfair. Other artists have been penalized for only doing 1 style, but Ryan hasn't had any criticism for staying in her wheelhouse. And yes, the judges have straight up said that there shouldn't be any white in black and grey tats except for tiny highlights (they said it to Craig, and pretty sure there was another instance). Ryan's whole shtick is to use a shit ton of white to make her blacks look darker - what gives?Kelly's style is new school, but she's adapted to every challenge. Ryan keeps doing the same (well-done) style every week.

I'm so disappointed that the women on this show have given me nothing to root for. They're talented artists, no doubt about it, but I really hate Ryan and Nikki's constant complaining. Oh no, someone is gunning for me because I got a bad skull pick. Have you not seen the show? They're not gunning for you, they're literally just doing as they are told! Oh boo-hoo, the boys are unfair to us. Um yea, you guys ostracized everyone else when you declared yourselves an all girl alliance. Even Kelly is starting to get on my nerves with her girl power shtick. Look, you can support your fellow women without putting down the men. If they're talented (and they are), they don't need you to put down the competition to make them look better. Let the work speak for itself. Call out BS when it's aimed at you, but I really can't recall an exchange where one of the men were blatantly sexist or disrespectful to one of the women WITHOUT being provoked. Actually, before the girls started disregarding the given teams and declared their own team, the men were pretty good about giving props where they were due. And I say all this as a woman who wants other women to succeed - I'm a feminist but I find these women hard to root for.

Kelly is the least offensive, and most versatile in my eyes (she's got a killer portfolio), so I will reluctantly cheer her on, even though I like Gian better as a person/competitor.

I'll go one step further to say that Brian was absolutely my favorite winner on Survivor.

I also love Heidik as a player, and I love the contrast of his cold, ruthless detachment and expert manipulation versus the "let's talk about our feelings and love everyone" vibe of every other season.

I too am a Spencer fan, and it's because I dig his dry, self-deprecating humor and woodenness. I don't think he's pompous at all, I think he's just a big dork, and like Adam this season, sometimes it's so earnest that it comes off as smug.

I recently re-watched Panama, and Shane is now one of my all-time favorite cast members, joining the ranks of Judd (Guatemala), Penner, Shi Ann, Yau-Man, Special Agent Philip and I can't believe I'm going to say this - Coach (redeemed himself in HvV). I love watching good game-play and love good strategy, but ultimately my favorites are the ones who are either hilarious (whether intentionally or not), or dumb as a box of rocks - pretty sure that's an unpopular opinion on a board where everyone wants to talk strategy, psychology, and numbers.

I also like Probst, and find his dad humor kind of endearing. He's not perfect, but I enjoy what he brings to the game, especially during TC's.

I think what works for Ken is that he is sincere and people feel they can trust him. I think that's a big part of why Adam flipped.

Exactly. I don't know that everyone would call it a strategy per se, but if I was out there and had to choose someone to trust, it'd be Ken (and for non-shallow reasons, lol). I think it's a mistake to assume that because he's quiet and mellow, he's just kinda floating along. He seems like a smart guy, so I'm not discounting him yet.

Now someone like CeCe or Sunday (or even Taylor) - I could see how based on what we've seen, people could say they have no strategy. But Ken? Wouldn't count him out.

I wish Zeke had more confessionals, because I always like hearing from him. I don't get a mean girl vibe from him at all - I think he's just snarky and frustrated by some of the doofuses he was forced to work with. It doesn't come across as malicious though.

    • Love 11
  19. I like Brett and his good-natured, affable personality. He seems like a genuinely nice guy, and he hasn't been on anyone's radar just yet. He's close with Chris, has a strong bond with Sunday and with Jay, and seems like the kind of inoffensive player that people would trust. I'd like to see him strategize though - so far it's mostly been Chris and Jay that have led those strategy discussions, so I want to see some actual gameplay from Brett.

I also like Chris. He's stoic and dry, but I like that in a person. I also don't see him as a challenge threat, as the IC's from here on out are generally more about puzzles or endurance than brute strength. He's also well-positioned with Brett, Zeke, Sunday, and Dave as close allies.

I've disliked Sunday from day 1, so I haven't been upset about her invisible edit. Annoying voice aside, something about her just rubs me the wrong way.

Disagree about Ken not having ANY strategy. I think his strategy is just to lay very low and go with the flow -  unless he has a strong opinion about something. Unlike say, Adam or David, who will yammer all day long about what ifs, and maybes, Ken is deliberate. He's solid. Loyal. Confident. I think that will earn people's trust, and that's all the strategy he needs right now. His position within the majority alliance is tentative, as he was on the bottom with Gen-X on the original tribe. He has Jess, and maybe David and Adam, but that's it. He can't make any moves now, and I don't think it's in his best interest to suddenly flip to the millennials either.

    • Love 11
  20. I don't think the problem was with choosing an unknown song. I think the problem, is that the song in question is just kind of a dud. It's not a song that showcases ability or range or emotional interpretation, and it isn't very dynamic. So, even though Aaron is one of my favorites, I was daydreaming during his performance. It's a good song, but not for a singing competition.

I'm actually tired of karaoke performances - the same songs being done year after year with little variation in arrangement or vocal stylings. I'd never heard of Love Interruption before James Wolpert did it, and now it's on every playlist of mine. Ditto Sarah Simmons and "Story" by Brandi Carlisle. But those songs were vocally interesting and allowed the singers to play. Aaron chose a song he loved, but didn't think about how it would fare in this format.

I'd still love to see Aaron do Tom Waits (Eggs and Sausage!) or more bluesy stuff in general. And something slow and stripped down, where he could hold some notes and show more vulnerability.

I thought Billy was terrible, and off. Off-key and off the pace of the song. I'm a huge Queen fan, so I'll always be critical, but if you're going to tackle Freddy, you need to have serious vocal chops and a shitload of stage presence. Billy has a good voice, but it's too clean and prissy - there's no character to it. And he definitely doesn't have the stage presence. Jordan Smith did Somebody to Love and I loved their interpretation, and I equally like Adam Lambert singing Queen, so it IS possible - but not for everyone.

Overall, the song choices in this episode were just crazy to me. Bon Jovi does a lovely stripped down, acoustic version of Livin on a Prayer. I wish Sa'rayah had gone that route instead. And Courney could have interpreted Don't Wanna Miss a Thing in a hundred different ways. If you're going to do a karaoke standard, please do something different with it! At least Christian's The Scientist had some personality to it - it wasn't a carbon copy of the original. But yea, song choices were mostly fails.

    • Love 1
  21. Disappointed about Sa'Rayah. I know she's not everyone's cup of tea, but I think she needed a coach that would help her reign it in a bit and she could have been amazing. I bought "I'll Take Care of You" because I couldn't get the performance out of my head, and the studio version is fantastic. She and Aaron really sound magical together. I think the best venue for Sa'Rayah would be broadyway/musical theatre. I keep thinking Jennifer Holliday when Sa'rayah performs- she's got that natural drama to her voice and her stage presence.

I listened to Aaron's studio recordings and he sounds SO MUCH better. I really think the sound quality has been off on the live performances, and Aaron especially has been sounding rough. But his voice sounds really good in studio - plus you can make out the words!

I really enjoyed Team Miley's Dolly cover. I actually thought Miley was the weak link, and I say that as someone who likes her voice. It just didn't blend with the other voices in the group, because she's got that goatiness to her voice, whereas Darby is breathy and Ali is smooth. But still fun to watch.

I'm ready for Billy to just go. He doesn't have the vocals to do a Freddy song, and not even 1/10th of the charisma that's needed to pull off Show Must Go On. Like others have said, his performances are soulless to me. I don't like his thin, almost nasally voice, but I can respect that it's technically good. However, he isn't bringing anything new to the songs, and he certainly doesn't make me feel anything.

Ali, on the other hand, made me cry. Partly because Leonard Cohen will always be my man, and his passing hit me hard, but also because I felt her performance.

Darby is obnoxious, but as long as the judges keep praising her for being unique, she's going to continue with her shtick. I wish we could just hear her natural voice without any affectations or imitation.

Finally, I like Alicia as a person, but her comments are verging on Paula Abdul levels of incomprehension. If everyone is beautiful and special and unique and "an artist", then no one really is. I expected higher quality critique from a trained musician - I always appreciated when Christina pointed out specific problems like a missed note, or lack of breath, or poor technique, etc.

  22. I feel bad for Kevin. He's an average-good artist who I think just needs some mentoring to be great, and he seems like a nice, decent guy. I loved that he stood up to Nunez and called him out on his blatant favoritism. Chris has had a problem with Kevin not listening to his advice - um yea, it's because your advice sucks, dummy. But with Nunez, it's always an ego thing. And I loved that Nunez basically confirmed the absurdity of this concept by  saying, "there's no teams" - and that he later admitted he had to send one of his own packing. You cannot have team captains and then let them judge. This was stupid from the get-go, and I hope they don't try to repeat this format.
    Here's my theory and prediction:

I feel like they were deliberately picking on Gia because they couldn't have 4 girls make it to the top, so they pointed out small flaws in her later work, so that they could justify sending her home. There's no way in HELL her tattoo was worse on pin-up day, and no way that her minor errors (not having enough time to finish 2 tats) were as bad as some artists just not being able to draw, or having jacked linework. I feel like they're setting Kelly up for the same fall - they can't bring 3 women to the top 5, so they're setting her up for a fall either next episode or the one after. I think they've already decided that pretty much no matter what, Ryan will make the final (and rightly so), and Nikki will as well,  (because she's also good plus brings the drama). I really do think that one of the guys could probably draw stick-figures on their next couple of canvases, and they'd still put Kelly in the bottom for something stupid like, "your tattoo was too big (like her head tat) or "you had 1 wonky line, which is clearly worse than Bonface's perfect stick-man". I mean, if Boneface, Kevin, and Sketchy advance over Kelly - who is by far the superior artist (seriously, check out her work!), then that's seriously fucked up.

Nate's attitude sucks, and while SOME of his work has been technically good, to me it lacks soul. His compositions aren't good, and I feel like his artistry isn't great - his designs are very generic, almost like he just traces or Frankensteins references and then executes them competently.

Gian does clean work, but his style and range is limited. He can only tattoo in that neo-traditional style of his, and when you put his work up beside Ryan's, NIkki's, or Kelly's - it's not as impressive even though he's good technically.

Sketchy is too inconsistent - he started off ok, but now he's all over the place, and I also am not impressed by anything he's done.

Surprisingly I enjoyed Von Miller as a judge and loved how passionate he was about the art!

    Still love Dave :)
