  1.

Dandy's giving me the Ed Gein vibe. He was a serial killer in 1950's Wisconsin. He and his mother had a weird relationship too. I believe that it was Gein who inspired Hitchcock to create Norman Bates.

Actually Gein was more of a grave robber than a serial killer.  But, yes Norman was based on him (book Psycho by Robert Bloch) as was Buffalo Bill in Silence of the Lambs and Leatherface in The Texas Chainsaw Massacre.

  2. I was one of the very, very few people who was not looking forward to a whole season focused on a freak show.  I was more interested in the theme of the previous season and the first season than I was in this one (I was not gung ho on "Asylum" at first, either).  I just could not care less about circuses, freak shows or any of it.  Clowns bore me.  I don't care about bearded ladies.  I knew I would tune in -- at least for a few episodes -- but the theme itself just annoys me.   But I've said in the past that this show is nothing if not watchable.  Even when the plots are ridiculous and everything is a hot mess, somehow it is still a very interesting hot mess.  The visuals are always fascinating.  It's always intriguing, even when it's silly.  It's like the best, most delightful, train wreck.

Ryan Murphy loves his serial killers, doesn't he?  Hasn't there been a serial killer in every single season at this point?  I wonder why he always relegates the killers to a secondary story or back story instead of just doing a full season about one particular murderer.

I have loved Jessica Lange in the previous 3 seasons -- she has been a highlight and scene stealer -- but, so far, this season she is not that interesting.  I realize we are only 2 episodes in and I am sure she will be committing all sorts of nefarious deeds in no time, but she is off to a slow-ish start.  (I know that Elsa us a bad person and has already done some bad things, but she has still been kind of dull so far!  Lol.)

Kathy Bates and Angela Bassett are always great.  Sarah Paulson is always good.  I am glad that there's no Taissa Farmiga this year.  I wish that Dylan McDermott and Zachary Quinto would come back to the cast.

I thought I read somewhere that Zachary Quinto was coming back at some point this season.  Maybe I dreamed it.

  3. Wow, I find Devon to be the most dour asexual unappealing man who was ever on a soap.  I have always hated him, and I believe it is the actor's fault.  These so called love scenes between Devon and Hilary are so boring and actually painful to watch.  So I was glad that at the end of today's show it looks like we may get some action with the blind man walking in on them with Cane and with his cane.  I predict they will all pretend Devon is not in the room, which will put Cane in a deliciously awkward position.

Well at least the Winters family will bring some levity for once.

  4. Well if that's how the writers want to play us and retread ridic Phick, them I am OUT. Everything has been indicating Phyllis' feelings are for Jack and vice versa (hence all the Kelly insecurity). Nick has shown zero interest in Phyllis and hasn't for some time as he couldn't even be bothered to visit her even one time in Georgia. Nick practically steps over Phyllis with barely a glance down at her while she's collapsed on the chapel floor to go chase after Sharon (lol). Hilarious! So how exactly are we supposed to buy Phick round 548123 at this stage? Even IF Nick walks away from Sharon after Le Secret comes out, I am just not gonna swallow that he'd want to go back to Phyllis. I could see him going back to Avery before Phyllis!

And as was pointed out, why must Jack's feelings/love always be secondary to Nick? This is absurd to me also that Phyllis's primary concern apparently is not Jack or her dotter, but ruining Nick's wedding to Sharon. Please.

ICA.  I think they've changed writers so many time that they just have no clue where they're going with this shit any more.  It's like a dog chasing it's tail at this point.  It's like they think we are so stupid that we'll just eat up any crappy mishmash they throw at us and ask for more.  It's insulting really.

  5. Yep.  Way back in June I posted about hoping for fun, campy horror  (tri-boob, yay!) and not the real horror that sideshow "freaks" had to endure.  Now Ryan Murphy says in his interview that we'll be flashing back to circus cruelty from the '20's.  Sigh.  I still feel sad about "The Elephant Man."  I may not be able to do this.

I'm wondering the same thing.  I really don't want to miss this season, but may not be able to handle it either.

  6. You would think. So why have Nick and Sharon come this close only to yank the rug out from under them again? Why the months and months of Shick build-up with constant Phyllis anvils dropping only to have it turn out exactly as predicted? Phyllis comes and ruins the wedding. Where's the surprise in that?

This. I think the writers are just screwing with us at this point.  The whole Jack and Kelly agonizing about Phyllis and then Phylllis comes back to Jack's house, walks in and says HOME, the putting back of her picture were all meant to throw us off the real aim:  PHICK!

  7. Jebus, I should not have watched that while I was home alone!  I don't know if I can handle it either, but at least my hubby is home at night and I can run screaming into the other room if I need to.  Also I think most of the opening montages tend to be creepier than the actual show.  I hope...
