I read somewhere that Amanda is not actually Aviva's Image Consultant but rather was hired by Bravo to be her friend. One of the cast members apparently tweeted something to that effect, plus that Aviva didn't know Amanda before filming started. You nailed it. Carole also wasn't looking very youthful that day, especially from her much celebrated backside.
