Then again, we are talking about a woman who screamed bloody murder at her "House Manager" (WTF is even that?) to find her white pants, which were hung neatly in the closet, as it turned out.  I hope she pays him well, poor guy.

He seems eager to be a regular - I think they worked up this act of Crazy Boss/Patient Butler together. (House Manager is the modern term for butler - they handle household logistics. Lots of overlap with personal assistant, but more likely to actually have formal training in function planning, etc)

Also, what 50+ year old man is worried about his mother's reaction to him having a tattoo?

They're Jewish and it's pretty strongly discouraged in most traditions - perhaps even more strongly in Mexico?  His reaction seemed genuine, like Kyle knew it would be a problem and intentionally revealed something they would have no way to know about otherwise.  And that even if they're not in a good place, that was below the belt.

I'm loving Christine recognizing Crybrows' relationship with Mykelti. I truly believe originally, Robyn was close to Mykelti for the help with the tenders, but Christine is magnanimous in her acceptance of the Dark Wife in the role she played with Mykelti.

Christine has always struck me as being pretty savvy when it comes to interpersonal relations (Kody aside). Maybe it comes with being in enormous families from childhood, but she's observed a LOT of human behavior up close and personal, and if there's one thing you learn once you've seen it play out more than once is the power of playing the long game. Many divorced parents inwardly seethe at their kid's hero worship of an absent, neglectful parent (or fourth mother), but know saying anything is counterproductive.

Sometimes you have to wait these things out until the kid is an adult and gains perspective about the relative merits of each person and their behavior over time.  Once they start witnessing certain behaviors as an adult, they revisit the echoes from their childhood and renegotiate everybody's role.

That part with Janelle in the car with Kody on her b-day bugged me too. She said she was bored sitting at home so why not just go out on the town with the narcissistic, selfish asshole that has abandoned her and her kids and hurt them tremendously!! Her decisions make no sense to me. How can all of that just be wiped away like nothing?? Because she doesn't want to sit home bored??

She knew they need to film. The anniversary gave her an excuse to film with Kody and without Robyn and maybe have a more candid discussion in the restaurant itself without the tape rolling. I imagine opportunities to speak with Kody without Robyn present are pretty rare.

I will never understand why, during COVID, the Brown family didn't start doing weekly or monthly Zoom calls. Everyone else was doing them! Lots of families dealt with different COVID protocols or family members that were more susceptible.

We never really did zoom as a family, but I remember sitting in cars two spaces apart, rolling down the windows and chatting from there (with masks on). Pulling into a driveway and chatting to someone on the lawn (with masks on).  Dropping groceries at my mom's condo door and standing 20 feet away to chat when she opened her door.  People who wanted to see each other definitely saw each other!

  5. I thought the feet on the ground thing was to allay her fears of falling - "see? You can catch yourself! Look how easily your foot is firmly on the ground! You're in control!" Agree with the poster upthread that knee/elbow pads would also have helped.

I understood where Christine meant by "you're going to fall, everybody falls!" but this is why you generally learn when you're 6 or 7 because the older you get, the scarier falling gets.  At 7 you're lighter, lower to the ground, and usually scraped up from something or other (at least if you play outdoors, which perhaps she never did). At puberty? Totally different sets of fears.

I need a fade-out scene at the very end of this entire show, showing us Kody picking Robyn up from her first shift manning the french fryer at McDonald's, dejectedly getting into the car with her eyebrow stencils melted down her cheeks and her hair full of fry grease splatter.

Kody will be working three shifts at McDonalds before she gets a job, and she'll complain about having to pick him up because they only have one car and it's not like she can be home all day without one.

I would love for them to let us in on who owns what because I have a feeling that Kody and Robyn own the bulk of the property.

They've probably only been making minimum payments Since Robyn got comfortable in her mansion, and now that Christine (and possibly Janelle and even Meri) are off the deeds, that just means Kody and Robyn are the ones that the bank will take it back from.  Janelle as much as said that she hopes he doesn't lose it (with the wry expression of someone who knows precisely what is going to happen).

I know they had a habit in the family of trading off bankruptcies one adult at a time, which worked when you had four adults, then five. When Kody and Robyn go kaput financially they're not going to be able to fall back on that method... unless that's what they're keeping her adult kids around for. Doesn't work unless they're working, though.

Once upon a time, Janelle was a career woman, but that hasn't been the case since Lehi. It's just become her image.

I think after being the breadwinner she was not going to work and kick money into the family pot ON TOP of doing the show when the other wives weren't.  I think Meri, smartly, banked all her MLM scam money in her own name.  But as far as Janelle was concerned, it was the largest and steadiest paycheck they'd seen and enough to meet her needs, so earning more and splitting it 87 ways wasn't worth it.

That birthday party seemed so depressing. Gee, I wonder why Kody isn't close to Ysabel? Could it be him abandoning her when she had major back surgery? Maybe?

She definitely had an uncharacteristic scowl on, which I suspect came from the camera coming out to play happy families for the show.

They’ve both lost a ton of weight.  Maybe it’s Ozempic, or maybe it’s that MLM drink the whole family is peddling.

I think they did keto. I remember some insta post way back about loving the no carb lifestyle and showing something delicious they were eating. But then as the weight loss really began to show, there were MLM ads implying that was what caused the weight loss. But I'm going with keto.

I enjoy the flashback scenes. Now that I'm used to the "kids" being "adults" it's fascinating to see them as grade schoolers, and try to catch the dynamics.  Especially since first time around I could never tell all the blonde girls apart.

  9. I know they're trying to paint the "Meri has a great relationship with the kids" picture, but it seems like she's the nice lady who gives good presents and brings rice krispie treats the three times a year they see her type relationship. They had to ask if she had a dog. Ariella walked up to her and hugged her while staring straight into the camera. They don't seem awkward with her, but this is not a relationship that has been fostered in recent years.  She's not the extra mother/close auntie that we're being sold on.

Which is not to say that from HER end they're not relationships that she wants to maintain. Having gone wrong with so many of the older kids, she may indeed have felt warmer/mushier with the tenders and her behavior reflects that.  Most of us know people who are far warmer grandparents than they were parents, and that would not be unexpected in this situation. Which makes it sadder that their parents don't truly want her in their lives enough to actually include her on an ongoing (nonfilmed) basis.

The key phrase is "enjoy each other's company".  I don't think anyone except Mykelti "enjoys" being around that toxic Kootie/Sobbyn/elder tenders group.

Garrison/Robert did say he misses Dayton/David. I like to imagine they reconnect and Kody and Robyn find out that they're hanging out together.

As for Leon, having withstood years of online abuse for being a selfish (we now know struggling) teen, I can imagine that the thought of opening themselves to genuine targeting by the super malicious anti-trans mob in addition to judgmental SW fans is NOT an attractive proposition. It creates an interesting conundrum - they won't want to be deadnamed, but casual viewers won't know who Leon is. So the easy solution is that Leon just doesn't come up in conversation, but then that creates more "where's Meri's kid?" questions.

I really think the show needs to jump ahead a year, because not only is this like watching paint dry, it is old paint in a dull colour that needs to be repainted ASAP.

I think last week or the week before they acknowledged a fairly big jump (6 months?) so maybe we'll get another one of those.

Outside of this show, has anyone else ever heard the term "tender age" being used?  I never have personally. Is it a regional thing or a Mormon thing perhaps?

I remember it being used a lot in the "old days" of the 70s when referring to children of a tender age needing to stay with their mother in custody issues.

And,the shocked look on his face when Janelle says she wants to remain separated is good.  Like it might have JUST DAWNED on him that things are NOT so great being "married" to his dumb ass.

I think the dawning realization was that they weren't going to move into "Sister Wives: New and Improved Without Christine" but instead "Sister Wives: One Down, Two to go"

Absolutely. Kody first looked in Robyn's direction with a shit-eating grin, before he looked at and responded to Meri.

She is roundly awful. She couldn't let Meri tell him herself? Ugh.

I don't blame her for that. I don't know anybody with a functional relationship who would withhold that kind of bombshell before their partner was about to appear on national television reacting to it.  And obviously Meri knew she would, hence making her squirm by delaying saying it.

From scene to scene, the actions of these people makes no sense, and they literally contradict themselves multiple times in the span of 45 minutes.  As was pointed out in an earlier comment, nothing they do makes sense.  They are so twisted in the webs of lies they've spun to keep this show on the air, they can no longer sort out what's fact and what's fiction.

Yup. Scene with Meri, Kodi and Robyn

We're expected to believe that: 1) Robyn hasn't already filled Kody in on precisely what Meri's about to say; 2) Meri isn't toying with Robyn knowing they all know what is going to be discussed but also knowing Robyn can't adlib worth a damn, so it's fun to make it awkward for her by acting coy.

They all have no illusion that Kody will give a damn about Meri leaving, but the scene has to make some kind of sense for the storyline playing out, which is that Meri continues to hold on for more than just the show paycheck, and that Robyn wants to hold the family together. Kody's so disengaged from Christine's exit and the prospect of Janelle following her that he doesn't even try to fake it. In the moment he plays along with the barndominium proposal. but in the talking heads he's back to being candid.

When he talks about disappointing Robyn, or losing Robyn's respect, it's that Robyn knows she's the villain in the story, and everything he does to chase the other women off looks like confirmation of what they're trying to deny. He's making her look bad by not trying. He's making her look bad by not keeping these women in line. He's making her look bad by not even TRYING in front of the camera to pretend that Meri has a shot, or calling his damn daughter on her birthday to keep Janelle from leaving and taking the franchise with her.

They literally have nothing to film except with Meri. Based on the one and done earring caper, production clearly shut them down on expanding coverage of Little Tenders on the Prairie, which means if he doesn't meet with Meri or take Janelle to dinner, what's going to be aired? Christine decorating her new home?

Kudos to Meri for making clear that Robyn for all her tearful "don't leave me!"s doesn't call or contact her. Seemingly ever.

Janelle and Christine have each other and multiple children with whom to film. Meri got some footage with her exterminator buddy.  It's clear who holds the power moving forward into the final season(s)/new followup series. And it's not Kody and Robyn.

I did notice they acknowledged a 6 month time jump this week, so if they do it again we may edge closer to real time (reality show version).

I'm in agreement.  As much as I like Jason, he didn't support Tzarina as much as I would have liked.  It was a stupid ask by the guests (ie production) to expect her to do a teppanyaki dinner-- that takes specific training.

I get the impression from interviews with him on the show and elsewhere that Tzarina had major performance anxiety issues throughout the season, many of which didn't air (probably in favor of her romantic entanglements) but she always ultimately rose to the occasion, so to him it was just the latest in a series of talking her through her anxiety and not letting her run from it.

And given her over the top attachment/attraction to him, it wouldn't surprise me if she played up those insecurities to get the one on one pep talks from him. Possibly.

  15. The onion is literally a stack of sliced onion over oil lit on fire. She's just anxious about the whole patter/showmanship thing.  Do they expect her to juggle eggs on a spatula and toss them into her hat? People literally train to do that, and she hasn't.

If the captain thinks they'll be satisfied watching her merely slice and grill veg and meat, he's the one shortchanging them by denying the vaudeville act of Keith Stone.

  16. On rewatch, the guest asked the question in two parts: Can we have a drink? and then more softly "orshouldwenotbecausewe'rediving?"

I think Aesha just heard the first part and responded on autopilot, tuning out the second part.

I do like that production now openly contradicts people's wrong recollections on the spot.

Seems like when diving is planned the night before everybody should be shut off at a certain time - after all, drinking at 2 am and diving at 8 is probably illegal, too.

  17. From the editing into multiple cuts (prejudicial) I took the issue as her yammering on and on about her entire family saga, as opposed to the "tell us something deeply personal that has molded you into the person you are today" stories that others had shared, stories that might make the others think twice about the motivations behind certain behaviors, and be more charitable. Uncles sleeping on park benches and then becoming photographers isn't the same thing as infant neglect, parental abandonment, foster care, being raised by a woman who tolerated no emotions and no sound from a child. "I may have been born in London, but I had an immigrant family and never felt like I fit in at home or at school" would have been more illuminating.

  18. The business class thing makes me laugh, because these women have tons more money than I have and I fly business/Mint when possible. If it's not available I'll book two coach seats so I can relax without close encounters with total strangers. And I don't know how long their official trip was, but I also don't spend a day flying each way just to spend 72 hours somewhere, so I'd also tack on private time.

They feel like she's out of their league, so they're intent on proving that SHE thinks so.

  19. I'm fine with the second Christmas morning with (half) sibs. Otherwise everybody's sitting around looking at the outsiders open their outsider presents a day late.

I imagine the sister who accompanied Truely wanted to see Kody, but even moreso didn't want Truely to be the lone outsider. It wasn't so long ago they admitted there wasn't even a place for her to sleep, so it would also be a good way to scout out how she's treated within the dynamic, and enable her to see her dad without (as much) anxiety.

I think Meri was over all of it a couple of years ago but playing up the "I'm still here!" angle not only to collect a paycheck but to make Kody squirm and look bad. She made multiple wry statements last season that seemed very clear that she was trolling him. Now with the other women gone she can troll while being a bit more aggressive.

I could be conflating it with Thanksgiving, but I thought Janelle said the KIDS got a house, so she wasn't paying for it.

Sol looks so much like Logan.

  20. Yup - I noticed it, too. All I can think is that it's not truly live because that was definitely an edit. An edit that changes nothing in terms of outcome, but should be addressed, because it was so unsubtle I picked it up live and rewound to verify what I'd seen. Multiple times.
