Very typical of a lot of the historic houses  in the Old Town section of Alexandria, Virginia.  Live in one.

I'm quite familiar with Old Town, but the facades look much more decorative even though they don't have landings.

I don't have a problem understanding Woody.  As a matter of fact, he is the only one who speaks with a "nawlins" accent.  The others sound like transplants.  New Orleans is one of my favorite cities to visit.  There is always something going on.  I love the food and the culture.  And, I am a sucker for the way they speak. "Yah heard meh".

I've heard people from Louisiana speak, not all from New Orleans, and I had no trouble understanding them (and they understood me as well, lol).  The difference was that they didn't talk fast and mumble like Woody.  So, to me, it's just Woody.

Haven't seen today's show yet but I did watch "Adopted in Danger," the movie referenced upthread. The IMDb description is:

When a DNA test helps Candace connect with her birth parents, she realizes some family histories are better left untold.

    My takes:

    • A poor level of acting by most of the cast, including some of the leads. Most of the actors would be laughed off a daytime soap. Tyler Johnson (Theo) was actually one of the better performers IMO.
    • There were plot holes so wide you could drive the space shuttle through them. I found an enormous suspension of disbelief was required at times to stick with the movie.
    • One actor was clearly wearing lifts in his shoes. He had that weird lean forward with his knees locked that usually gives it away. I was surprised he let them film him standing like that but maybe he didn't have the clout to prevent it.
    • One actress was trying rather hard to emphasize her thigh gap. Her legs were kind of thin and shapeless relative to the rest of her body so she often resembled a double-stick Popsicle to me. 😼

And again I noted TJ's gigantic hands. In this movie sometimes it seemed like they had a life of their own and he didn't know what to do with them. Hee.

Verdict: 4/10, would not watch again.

I would make these points about most of the Lifetime movies.  I watch them when there's not much else on tv (I don't stream anything) and watching the D-level actors do crazy stuff.

  4. What I find interesting is how clueless Vivian seems to be when it comes to Mary entering her house and going through her things.  One would think that Vivien would sense something was "off" as soon as she entered her house.  I mean, doesn't she notice misplaced items?  I do understand her useless children worrying about her because perhaps she's been kind of clueless all her life.

  5. I guess Amani and Woody think the bleeped out language conversations are cute, but they need to give it a rest.   It was already hard enough to understand Woody sometimes, and then the bleeping out last night just made their conversations that much more difficult to understand.

    I heard that too.

But I knew what she meant.

The episode was boring, I missed the last few minutes because I fell asleep.  LOL.

Sure, I knew what she meant but I was just pointing out the bad grammar.  She's not alone.  It seems to be prevalent on these reality shows.

Karen has said it: She wants a man to "put me in my place." A man who, she agreed with her friend, just needs to give her a "look" for her to become obedient. A man whom she isn't  tempted to call "child" or suggest he needs to get parental permission  to do something. A man who isn't  constantly  solicitous of her feelings.

IOW, Karen wants a man who WON'T always treat her like a queen.

Miles wants to show his woman that he cares about her and how she is feeling. He wants her to appreciate his kindness and show him some physical  affection. He wants a woman to joke and laugh and relax with. He wants a woman who will express her emotions so he doesn't have to guess, wonder, or worry.

Neither Karen nor Miles perceives the other as meeting her or his needs in this relationship.

I think all these things are true, but I'd add that I just don't think that Karen is physically attracted to Miles, no matter how much of a "good" guy he is.

I wonder if Christina is throwing a Hail Mary so Henry says yes and then She says no so she doesn’t get dumped on tv. She’s crazy enough to think of something that twisted.

Don't do it Henry!  Thank goodness he just said they have to spend the night apart.  I was scared for him.

  9. It just occurred to me when watching Henry that his demeanor and tics remind me of Anthony Perkins in Psycho.  Come to think of it, he even looks like Anthony Perkins.  (To be clear, I like Henry and I'm not saying that he is psycho.  Not at all, lol.)
