Lord, help us: From "Ask Matt" on TVLine: Hello! Any news about SVU will be welcome. —Sú
Just as we went to press, I learned that Amy Hargreaves (Homeland, 13 Reasons Why) will guest-star on the history-making NBC drama this fall as Dr. Alexis Hanover, a psychologist tasked with teaching a new police interview technique to the squad. And to do so, she will ask each detective to play the role of witness and recall a past trauma in their lives….

You know what that means, don't you?

The return of William Lewis flashbacks? Or when Noah was kidnapped those five times? Or [insert every other traumatic moment in Olivia's life].

Rollins will round out the rest of the dramatic angst (sister, mother, gambling, baby, douchey Harry Hamlin and his bad accent), and the first five minutes will be all about how tragic it was that Carisi always got picked last for school teams and he will disappear and never be seen again.

  2. Drunk History is nominated for 3 Emmys! Huzzah!

Duncan describing all the things Hoover did when he was angry was gloriously funny. Smearing lipstick all over his lips! Dancing on Ouija boards! Rubbing lavender oil on his nipples! And my fave: kicking UFOs into the cyclopian eyeballs of illuminati reptilian shills!

The moment when the dog turned into Ken Marino made me need to pause the DVR and collect myself.

Me too, holy shit. Also when the narrator was talking about how Masterpiece getting stud fees "which, if you don't know what that means, it means *whispers* fucking."

That was some hardcore bullshit that Lady Bird Johnson pulled on Eartha Kitt, damn.

Tessa Thompson and the lady playing Hedy Lamar are so very, very attractive!

    Agreed.

  4. Welp. That sure was an ending.

So is everyone who leaves the show contractually obligate to tongue bathe Benson? She "sees cases with an open heart" my ass. That is some high class bullshit, right there.

  5. We had a brief, shining moment of Stone telling Benson he wasn't just going to do what she asked, before it all went Olivia's way, because of course it did.

    Fare thee well, Peter Stone.

Wasn't there an SVU where the perp was transgender and had to be incarcerated in a men's prison, since she was technically male???? It wasn't the whole episode, just something thrown in at the end.

I maybe off here, but was the transgender killed in prison, that set off this political or social issue for this episode?

No, the episode @illdoc is thinking of is "Fallacy" from S4. She wasn't killed, but gang raped, and it was at the very end of the episode.

I am really not liking how easy Ray is getting along with everyone, and I would not be sad if he died at the end of the season. He's the only character I am not connecting with. It's not even that I don't like him, I just don't care about him.

Ha, me neither! Every time Jai would react, I was like "Why do you suddenly care about what Ray thinks? You guys hate him!" I love that Will and Frankie still just shut him down cold.

Ophelia Lovibond! I hope that kiss at the end means she'll be back.

  8. A+ callout on the "Thoughts and Prayers" performative angst that goes around on social media after any tragedy. Jake's cynicism can be boring, but it was completely on point for me this episode. I like that he got Grace her Pinterest cake.

Matt and Paige's war on who could be the most caring was amazing.

I was waiting the whole time for Karen to actually be in on what her husband was up to, and be the real mastermind. Classic Mellie!

Right? I was yelling at the TV "It's Bellamy Young, of course she's involved in this somehow!"

The shipboard Charleston in tonight's Drunk Mystery is one of the funniest things not just on this series, but ever.

Agreed, as was the bumper with Derek quoting "Like a Prayer". I had legit tears in my eyes.

Well, Cassidy DOES have a double in dirty cop Mike Stoat from the CI episode, "Purgatory"... Hmm. Always have the Prudential Mayhem guy stop in and say howdy. So there's two right there!

There's also Ryan O'Reily...not quite the same 'verse, but there was a lot of overlap.

I stuck this one out for as long as I did solely for Dean Winters, 'cause I miss him on my TV.
