  1. Spent the last week or so binging a series from the 2010's missed in first run, Hart of Dixie. Thoroughly enjoyed its endearing, quirky characters and its heart. Kinda like The Gilmore Girls set in Alabama. A definite "comfort food" kind of show.

Big fan of The Chosen, so when Jonathan Roumie made a very small appearance, the whole neighborhood must have heard me yell, "JESUS!!!!"

Which was followed in short order by an equally loud, though not quite as enthusiastic, "PASTOR JEFF!" when I realized it was Matt Hobby playing one of a trio of musical backwoods brothers. (He would have received a more enthusiastic greeting had he not been such a spineless jackass for much of last season.)

Hey - maybe a musical episode of Young Sheldon in the future?? 🤣😂

  2. Just a few random thoughts, many of which have already been posted.

    • Mandy is just like her mom. RUN, GEORGIE!!
    • Sheldon more likable than Missy through much of the episode. Who'da thunk it?
    • Attention friendly flight attendant: The passenger in the aisle seat next to Professor Visiting is in dire need of a gin and tonic, too.
    • Pastor Jeff's brother, the "fun uncle" ... in rehab? Will we get to meet him?
    • Dale is killing it. A veritable old guy stand up (with the necessary assistance) comic.
    • George and Missy have such a wonderful relationship. Sigh ...

Gonna miss the Cooper family, warts and all, and hope they'll be back on screen as soon as possible in the fall.

  3. A moment of self-awareness for Mary, a necessary step in the transformation to the BBT mom who knew how to handle Sheldon, regardless of the bushwa he was spewing.

George pointing out that Sheldon was actually acting like a normal teen - good stuff. (And boy howdy, do I hope Sheldon's kids give it to him with both barrels!!)

Loved Missy. Not many lines, but some of the best. Think she and Dr. Linkletter could have an epic discussion about her brother.

  4. Writer 1: They want us to write a script that has lines for all the Coopers, Meemaw, Mandy, Dr. Sturgis, Dr. Linkletter, President Hagemeyer, Brenda, and Billy. Include a cute baby scene. Oh, and throw in a Star Trek reference or two ... and maybe a bit of foreshadowing to some BBT episodes regarding Raj, data filled computer screens, and space alien shaming.

Writer 2: Wow. That's a lot to fit into 18 minutes of show time.

Writer 3: Does it matter if it's funny?

    Apparently not.

  5. Move over Mystery Science Theater 3000.

Could watch a whole season of Sheldon Cooper discussing 90210, with guest commentary by his dad.

And Mary and Brenda may wind up with a stronger friendship after the whole kerfuffle. Who'da thunk it?

  6. The Coopers are messed up, but their dysfunction pales in comparison to Paige and her family. Crossed over from feeling sorry for the girl to being a bit scared of her in this episode. Paige is a deeply disturbed young lady; can't say I'd want my daughter being influenced by her right now, either.

One positive result from Missy's little adventure - Mary's more than likely on her way back home.

Sheldon was in about as full-scale SHELDON COOPER mode as he's ever been. How that boy survived to adulthood is a mystery.

  7. Mandy's mom was so looking for a glimmer of hope that maybe ... possibly .... conceivably ... the baby's middle name might be inspired by the maternal side of the family - the grandmother, perhaps.

Don't hold your breath, Audrey. Hateful Shrew does not go with Constance at all.

(Though BBT fans know it does go with Wrinkled Old Bastard.)

  8. Connie and Dale were cracking me up. Probably 'cause I'm an old fart, too.

Enjoyed the frat party ... even though, as others have pointed out, there were plot holes aplenty. (Don't watch this show to think.)

Poor Paige. She'd be a lot happier if she was at Sheldon's level of cluelessness.

Happy, in sync, George and Mary - best part of the episode for me.

  9. Watched a few minutes of a Brother vs. Brother episode a couple days ago. (No idea if it was a new episode or rerun.)

One of the real estate expert judges was Kendra Wilkinson.

Maybe she is, and I'm dead wrong in this assessment, but ...

If this is the level of "expert" a show is resorting to use, isn't it time to put it out of its misery?

  10. One thing Georgie neglected to mention to New Girl is that he is still only 17 and should be a senior in high school. That might have given her more pause than his future fatherhood, which didn't seem to phase her.

Felt guilty listening to Missy tell Mary how embarrassed Mary's presence in the school made her feel. Sad to admit to similar attitudes expressed in tween/teen years to my own mom.

Thought Brenda may have just been telling tales to her friends, some alcohol-enhanced exaggeration.

Poor Mary. Sheldon yammering on about all things Star Trek cannot help relive her hangover.

I used to wear one of the dresses Mary's been sporting the past few episodes quite a bit in my early days of teaching. It had a different color combo - golds and yellows and pinks and orange. Some students told me (quite a few years later) that they had names for my wardrobe. That was the sunshine dress. In all honesty, that dress was about the only thing I likes about this episode. :)

  11. Mandy seems to be turning into Meemaw, Jr.

    This is not a compliment.

Surprised that Sanctimonious Church Lady turned out to be a member of Pastor Jeff's flock and didn't seem to realize who Georgie and Mandy were, seeing how much tongue-wagging and moral outrage their relationship has stirred up within the congregation.

HATE the path they are taking with Pastor Jeff. Until the season, he has been a basically well-intentioned, kind-hearted, naive fellow with a large dose of doofus thrown in. This season, he's become a full-on Pharisee.

  12. Note in the File, please meet Haircut Records ... which will/have/has/had served adult Sheldon equally as well as you.

Georgie suggesting to Mandy she is just like her mother ... are we sure this show isn't going to some cockamamie alternate route where he becomes the Late Cooper and Big George lives on?

And Mandy's mom ... is there anyone in the town of Medford, the great state of Texas, or the planet Earth with a more convincing resting ya-there's-a stick-up my-ass-so-what's-it-to-you face?

  13. Wayne and Darlene's break-up reminded me of Debra's parents' divorce on Everybody Loves Raymond. Two "perfect couples" split while the definitions of dysfunction, Frank and Marie Barone and Mary and George Cooper, soldier on.

    3 hours ago, TheLastKidPicked said:

We need to give Lance Barber credit for some great acting here.  It was just a flash, but he did a great job with his facial expression when he realized,  "She agreed with that pretty quick!"

    Yes! That was fantastic.

We're seeing Georgie transform into the man who held his family together. (Makes me disgusted with BBT Mary who described him and his sister as being "dumb as soup.") But I am concerned about him. He's putting it all out there for Mandy and the baby ... and I'm not sure I trust her. Really want to be wrong, but I'm afraid she may wind up smashing his heart. (Which might be a factor in his other failed relationships.)
