B&B: What's Up Today at Forrester Creations? - Daily Chat

I would love for Sean Kanan to remain in B&B for the long term. Since KKL pooh-poohed a Brooke/Deacon storyline, I would love for Deacon to get involved with a character brought back on the canvas like Taylor, Steffy, Felicia, or a recast Kristen. (IMO, Tracy Melchior CANNOT act.) But, if spoilers are right, I don't see long-term potential in that pairing. -

Deacon wanted to be with Amber, but after being rejected by her and disrespected by the Forresters, he romanced and married a teen-aged Bridget as revenge. As a coup-de-grace, he deflowered Bridget while the Forresters were listening on speakerphone. Months later, during a private conversation, Brooke managed to convince Deacon to admit that he married Bridget for the wrong reasons and that Bridget deserved better than a much older husband who did not love her. Then, the two bonded over their mutual outcast statuses and gave in to their attraction. Afterwards, Deacon was unable to hurt Bridget by asking for a divorce. As the affair progressed, an unaware Bridget refused Deacon's made-up excuses for ending their marriage. -

On the Wishful Recasts thread, there seems to be a consensus that Thorsten Kaye is not working in the role of Ridge. I believe the problem with the TK recast is that the character's story has not been written well. First, the absence of Taylor, Thomas, Steffy, Stephanie, and Thorne has made the character seem unattached instead of a central B&B character that Ridge has always been. There have been too few scenes with Eric. Steffy's return featured scenes with Eric, Quinn, and Liam and none with her father. The first scenes with Brooke- the rose petals in the waterfall, the epic SLAP- were tremendous. But since then, TK has infused his scenes with KKL with a disdain and coldness that seem very out-of-character. Romance is central to soap operas and a good coupling is a proven way to make a recast work. But, the relationship with Katie has happened too quickly for the viewers to invest in it. This is a shame because TK and Heather Tom have good chemistry. Instead, the most interesting parts of this story has been the sibling conflict between Brooke and Katie instead of Ridge's romance with Katie. The story would have worked better if Ridge had returned only to find Brooke with Bill and Ridge turned to Katie after unsuccessfully trying to win Brooke back. Perhaps, showing Ridge at work, or backstage at a couture Forrester Fashion show will help the character gel. I hope TK will get some scenes with Hunter Tylo soon. TK is a great actor and has the qualities of an ideal leading man for a soap opera. However, the writing is missing too many beats to make this recast work. -

I remember reading somewhere that Brad Bell regretted writing Brooke's affair with Deacon and Hope's conception as it did irreparable harm to the character of Brooke. I will say that KKL and Sean Kanan had a chemistry that damn near melted my television. B&B couples in which neither character is a member of the core Forrester/Logan family do not work on the show i.e. Taylor/Nick, Taylor/Whip, Nick/Agnes. -
Having been a huge Guiding Light fan, I would love for Krista Tesreau, (Mindy Lewis) to grace my tv screen again. I think she would make a great Kristen Forrester. IMO a good actress has never played this character. Krista Tesreau is age appropriate and has the requisite sex appeal that the character needs.

Ridge and Donna weren't dating but there was a flirtation and a lot of kissing during the time that Brooke was married to Nick. Ridge wanted Brooke back and was trying to make Brooke jealous but actually considering moving on with Donna if he didn't get Brooke back. Shortly thereafter, Brooke returned to Ridge after Nick slept with Bridget and a resultant pregnancy scare. Speaking of Bridget, what depth the character could add to the Brooke/Katie/Ridge/Bill quadrangle! After all, Katie slept with Bridget's husband and got pregnant which ended Bridget's second marriage to Nick. Before that, Ridge almost had an affair with Bridget after he found out about Brooke and Deacon's affair while Deacon was married Bridget. Someone needs to break the bubble of nobility in which Ridge and Katie place themselves. -

The Brooke and Bill pairing has never really worked for me because of all the terrible things that Bill has done to Hope. Plus, I don't feel the sexual heat between the two characters. When Brooke is with Bill, KKL seems to play the conflict instead of the desire. On a shallow note, KKL needs a makeover. Her hair has thinned, so the length and the color no longer flatter her. Don't get me wrong. I love, love, love KKL and Brooke, but her look needs some updating. -

Brad Bell…Make. This. Happen. PLEASE -
Just caught John Enos, who played Bobby Marsino on Y&R, on an old episode of Sex and the City and I couldn't help but think he would make a good Ridge. He's tall, good-looking, very masculine, and age-appropriate. His chemistry with all the ladies on B&B would be off the charts. So, not a great actor? Neither was Ronn Moss. So too much Italian East-coast-ness to play the Californian Ridge? Thorsten Kaye doesn't play Californian either.

I was wondering why Katie walked into Rick's office until I realized that she expected Tooley McToolertool to be behind the desk after a successful coup. Her "scolding" of Brooke revealed how insecure she is in her relationship with Tooley McToolertool where Brooke is concerned. Katie knows Tooley has always gone back to Brooke. I was surprised how supportive of Tooley McToolertool Katie has become after just a week of boinking. Katie seemed to have no problem siding with Tooley against her own family. I think Eric offered the CEO position to Tooley McToolertool as Eric wants Tooley and Brooke to head the company as well as the family. -

Hey Catologrrr, one of the hallmarks of B&B is parents being obsessively involved in the love lives of their adult children. From Brooke and Taylor bickering over whose daughter, Hope or Steffy, should be with Liam to the biggest Electra Complex case of them all, Stephanie and her obsession with Ridge, Quinn is in good(?) company. -

This is correct. I hope the fact that Taylor had to take out a loan in order to buy her shares becomes a plot point again. -
He should have been the Marcus recast. Carter and Maya get so little screen time. I forgot they were on the show. LOL

Though there is not enough screen time for the current cast, there are some missing characters whom I think would be a welcome presence played by another actor. 1) Thomas Forrester - Adam Gregory was very, very good-looking but was a wooden actor and had zero chemistry with any of the female characters. The Forrester scion should inherit the speedos from Ronn Moss and be shirtless in half of his scenes. My pic for a Thomas recast would be Marco Dapper, known for playing Carmine Basco on Y&R. 2) Steffy Forrester - Please come back Jacqueline MacInnes Wood! But, if not, how about Julie Marie Berman, Lulu on GH. 3) Bridget Forrester - Ashley Jones is serviceable, but the character has been a shell ever since the great Jennifer Finnegan left. TPTB please bring her back. Marcus, Justin, and Daisy are not needed on the current canvas storyline-wise but some ethnic diversity on show set in LA would be nice. Kristolyn Lloyd is fine but please recast the Mushmouths. What are your suggestions?

Yes, tool-ishness has always been a central trait of this character. I am very happy that Ridge's tool-ishness was the theme of today's episode. Heretofore, Rick and Bill were the only characters to consistently verbalize Ridge's tool-ishness. -

My 3 wishes for a storyline: 1)For Brooke to get 12.5% of Forrester from Ridge as they were married when Ridge bought his shares, get Bill's 12.5 of stock in exchange for the papers she switched with leaves, and to snap up Taylor's shares after Taylor defaults on the loan used to buy her shares. 2) For the writers to acknowledge that, historically, Forrester was much more successful under Brooke than it ever was when Ridge was at the helm. The last time Ridge was president of Forrester, Bill was able to take control of the company. 3) For the writers to explain what Eric does at Forrester now. Does he design? Does he make any business decisions or does he leave them all to Rick?
