  1. Why do so many think TK will raise his little brother?  Doesn't the kid have a father?

I don't get the disdain for Edelstein's character.  I guess I was kind of neutral on her.  She wasn't a favorite, but she didn't do anything to make me actively dislike her.  *coughLivTylercough*

  2. Maybe someone with more knowledge of the era than I have can help me out, but did they not have insurance back then?  Would a train crash really bankrupt the Russells?  I would assume that derailments weren't that uncommon during this time period.  Or, would the bad publicity make people not want to take Russell's trains causing them financial harm.  (My apologies for being too lazy to look up the insurance question myself.)

Bertha seems to finally making some headway into society.  I would think she could benefit from showing Ann Morris at least a modicum of sympathy, or at least empathy.  I do think Aurora Fain is actually beginning to like Bertha, at least somewhat.

I might be in the minority, but I don't mind Raikes.  I had resisted the popular theory that he was some type of con man, but his move in kissing Marion in the hall of the hotel (inn? boarding house?) seemed awfully bold for the time.  And his admission that he was hoping for "more" would seem to be very scandalous given the social mores.  I now suspect his motives are not entirely pure.

Damn, George was so cold to young Archie. That was a hell of a choice he gave him.

I thought it was some kind of test.  If he turned down the offer, it would show he really loved Gladys and George would give his blessing.  But, I guess that wasn't what George had in mind.

  4. I don't remember the specifics, but wasn't it just earlier this season that Leela got a doctor fired for a mistake in the OR?  Tonight, Billie begins to operate on the freaking wrong side of a patient's brain and its just hand waved away.

It was sad what Mr. Morris did, wonder what his wife will do now.

I could picture Mrs. Russell offering her a job as the hired help just to rub it in.

So does that maid's plans to get more out of life involve sleeping with Russell?

In the pilot, I was convinced that the maid and Russell were either having an affair or would begin one soon.  I'm not so sure anymore.  I think it might all be one sided on the maid's part.  Russell clearly loves his wife.  While I'm sure that didn't stop men of that era from enjoying extracurricular activities, I'm just not seeing it any longer.  I actually think I like that idea better as it is actually more unexpected than an affair would be.  Of course, having separate bedrooms doesn't help.

I was so excited for Peggy when she got her publisher's letter, but then reality set in.

I felt so bad for Peggy.  While I totally understand her position, I honestly think that if I had been in her position, I would have made the changes and cashed the check.  Sometimes you have to do the pragmatic thing.  Save the money now, and work to get your later work (which would likely also be better) published under your own name in the future.

  6. Are they seriously not going to have Judd do a DNA test? (And no, I don't put much stock in those ancestry tests that are advertised so much.) In the span of two episodes, Judd went from no kids to two.

As for Grace, I get her initial reaction.  I'm sure it was the shock of the situation that took over.  But, she quickly came back around to being the Grace we know and love.  If any character could welcome a new member into her family, its Grace.

I liked the interaction between Strand and Amy Acker.  Hope she sticks around.  Was Benz just a one (or was it two) off guest appearance?  Me and Acker are in agreement on McConnaughey's acting abilities.

When Owen was trying to get on the exclusive dating app and he invited Marjan to dinner and said he decided it was time to thank the person who saved the squad.  My first reaction was "Is Paul coming?" because I distinctly remember it being saved due to the very generous financial donation from the father of the girl Paul saved.

The nanny cam hack was super creepy.

All in all, I thought it was one of the better episodes this season.  (Of course, that is a fairly low bar given the ice storm storyline.)

  7. Have they ever said how Aimee Lee died?  Seems I recall some mention of her being sick last season, but I could be mistaken.  I would love it if somehow they could say she faked her death and she returns at some point.  For some reason, the character just fascinates me.  Her return might be just what it takes to get the Gemstone offspring back on the straight and narrow.

And for some reason I keep anticipating that BJ will turn out to be the adult Harmon.  He could have been adopted by his parents that we met last episode.  Probably not going to happen.  (I know, it would make he and Judy cousins.)  They are mentioning Harmon way too much for him not to show up at some point.

  8. Did Shauna really just use a regular old kitchen electric knife to cut up the body?

How did Misty get the body parts in the coffin?  She couldn't have put them in there during the viewing.

The CGI for the bear was very bad.

I've seen a lot of suggestions of casting Liv Tyler as the adult Lottie.  I didn't like her at all on 911 Lonestar, but I could actually see that working.

"So-and-so broke his parole so I got the job." Nope. That's not how it works. I hope she is shown her struggling in the grocery job. Or maybe switch to a family/general practice? Anything that's less pressure than an E.R. doctor?

This was my big complaint.  There is simply no way that one would go from being a doctor to a job bagging groceries.  (And that is not a jab at grocery clerks.  I have no doubt it is a hard job.  I couldn't do it.)  If she wanted to get away from the pressures of the ER, there are so many medically related jobs she could take that would be less taxing.   They did something similar on Young Sheldon with the college professor taking the job at a grocery store.  Its just not something that would happen.

The physical trainer was the kid from the underrated Bless this Mess.  I always thought he was the highlight of that show.

Overall, I didn't hate it.  Will give it a few more tries to see if it finds its footing.

  10. Except for the blackmailing her friends thing, Jeff actually turned out to be a pretty decent husband.  1) Not cheating.  2) Stood up for Shauna against Jackie's parents. 3) Willing to fall on his sword to take the blame for Shauna's murder.  4) Seemed genuinely hurt to discover Shauna had been cheating on him.

So what was in Adam's drawer that convinced Shauna he was the blackmailer?  It appeared to be one of the journals, but apparently was not.  Then, did Jeff remove the journals from the safe and then return them later?  What was the point of that?  Didn't he say that he had read them years ago?

All things considered, I didn't think Van's face looked that bad.

What were the white strips that were hanging from the trees for the Doomcoming dance?  Looked like toilet paper.  Surely, they would not be wasting that precious commodity.

I seriously fear for Coach now that Misty knows he is not attracted to her.   I don't think he's long for the show.

Season finale seems perfect time to introduce another adult survivor.  My money's on Jackie making an appearance in the final scene of the reunion epsiode.

  11. It was OK.  I'll give it a couple of more tries before deciding if I want to stick with it or not.

I did wonder why Thony let the mobsters drive her to her actual address.  She had just seen them murder someone.  Why let them know where you live?  Get out somewhere else and call a ride or walk.

  12. The judge was temporarily my favorite character, until he backed down at the last minute to the great and powerful John Dutton.  He should have reminded John that he was running for public office.  I suspect a far greater percentage of the electorate in Montana would have agreed with the judge's initial stance than John's bleeding heart take.   Perhaps a "leak" to a local news station of John Dutton trying to pull strings to get a lighter sentence for his girlfriend is in order.

I have no clue what was going on with Kayce, nor do I care.

This was perhaps the first time ever that I liked Jimmy, and he's now apparently leaving.

Beth is just tiresome.  She really needs someone who can knock her down a peg or two (and make it stick).  John and Rip's constant enabling of her doesn't help.  I was hoping when Rip put the ring on her finger, she'd ask why it smelled of embalming fluid.  I hope John made a sizable donation to that priest's church.

Is there no child protective services in Montana?

Jamie is just too dumb for words.  He should have took Beth out when he had the opportunity.

as Laura Lee was getting into your plane I was 99.999% sure she wouldn’t make it far.

Lizzo running a four minute mile and Aaron Rodgers being named the spokesperson for Pantene were more likely to happen than Laura Lee making it very far.

For it to be in the closet it pretty much has to be Adam, Jeff, or Callie.

    I was leaning towards Jeff.

If it was Adam, would he have had time to break into the safe and get the journals?  He was only in the closet a few minutes.  He would have had to either know the code or done some serious prying.  Even if the safe wasn't exactly Fort Knox, I would doubt it could be broken into that easily.  It would have had to be Jeff or Callie who were both more likely to know (or correctly guess) the combination.  Maybe the blackmailer and the journal thief are two different people.  Jeff is the blackmailer and Callie took the journals.

I don't think Adam is Javi.  Even as people age, their features don't change so dramatically (barring plastic surgery or some such) that someone you spent over a year with in a traumatic situation wouldn't recognize you.   But, wasn't it Javi who whittled the wooden figurine for Shauna?  Perhaps he had a crush on her back then?  And it would explain him being "artsy."

Christina Ricci just keeps killing it.

This cannot be said enough.  I really hope she gets some Emmy consideration for this role.  Misty could easily be a caricature in lesser hands.  Misty truly is despicable, and probably a psychopath, but you still feel sorry for her.   Ricci somehow manages to find some humanity in her.  (And kudos to the actress playing the younger version as well.)

That said, I would hate to be the coach when Misty finds out the truth about his sexuality.

  14. I laughed out loud when Shauna said she hated her daughter right after the Taylors said that Callie reminded them of Jackie.

Was it my imagination, or did the number of survivors appear to increase this week?  Granted, most of the girls were glorified extras, but there seemed to be more of them than previously.  I wonder if the writers suddenly realized that they needed a few extras to kill off at some point.  Really, beyond the four who we know made it to adulthood, I have a hard time keeping the other girls straight.   There's Jackie, who is obviously the most important character that we haven't seen as an adult, then Lottie=crazy; Laura Lee=religious; and Van=lesbian.  I really don't know any of the other girls beyond those by name.

Teenage Taissa is so nice and caring to all the girls; it is hard to imagine she willingly did anything sinister.

I am really intrigued by the idea that the survivors left some people behind in the mountains,

This never occurred to me until I read it here.  I bet this is the route they go.  I just read where this show was renewed for another season.  This route opens up all kinds of possibilities for the casting of more adult roles.

Without access to medical care I just assumed that the baby could have easily died of natural causes and not been killed for food. Although I suppose they could have still eaten the baby even if it had died of natural causes.

  16. During the ending montage, when the two women from the first rescue were in the hospital room, I was hoping that the driving examiner would wake up, look over at the other woman, and say "You flunked."   Just me?  Ok, moving on.
