  1. I cried bitter tears for days after this election.  Now, I really WANT to be able to respect Trump, but I can't!  I don't like feeling this way about the President.  There have been Presidents I didn't care for, but this guy is off the charts. He continues to make an ass out of himself.  He is not going to change.  He has no class and no impulse control.  He's an idiot!  I just can't believe this is happening to this country.  He is going to continue to run his businesses, living part-time in Trump tower and pretty much do whatever else he wants to do.  There is nobody to tell him NO!  I would take Pence any day over this fool.  Thanks for letting me vent.  I think my husband is starting to worry about me, thinks I am obsessing (although he hates Trump too). I don't want our country to fail, but I CANNOT wait for the time when the ignorant (m)asses who voted for him find out they are not going to get the stuff he promised and that they have been conned.

According to this (unless anyone wants to prove this is fake), this off the record meeting was absolutely nothing like Obama's and there is every reason to panic about losing free press. Tell me this is fake, please.

I am stunned.  Is there a chance this is not true?  I am sick to my stomach.

I will not be remotely surprised if they move in there with him.

But Ivanka has three kids, the oldest one is five, I think.  So it would be ok for her to transfer her kid mid-year but not Barron? And the Obama daughters moved mid-year, as well as Chelsea Clinton and I am sure others.

Trump looks SO miserable at the White House today. I'm telling you guys, he's going to hate this job so much. Now that campaigning is over and he has to be a "serious person," I wonder if the flashes of self awareness he's shown in his life return at all.

I know that he knows he's completely in over his head, deep down. I don't know, maybe that will save us from his becoming Hitler on some level.

And his attitude has changed on a dime now that he met with Obama and suddenly he's a great man and it's an honor to meet him and he wants his counsel, etc. Obama being nice to him has completely changed his mind about this whole thing, like it always does whenever he meets a powerful person. All he wants is to be in with celebrities, public figures, presidents. He doesn't give a shit about his supporters.

I would not be surprised if he does all of a sudden start thinking he'd much rather be in with the popular President Obama than these idiots like Mike Pence (who he obviously hates), and all it takes is meeting with him more over the next two months for him to listen to anything he'll have to say. In my fantasy, Obama figures out super fast how to manipulate and influence him, pulls out Trump's inner Democrat, which he always was before anyway, and becomes a secret advisor behind the scenes to keep him from going off the rails, lol.

I agree.  Trump looked like "Oh shit."  He's going to find out that it's one thing to campaign to adoring fans and quite different to have to stay in the White House and actually work.  Does he even have a clue what he is in for?

Someone on Facebook posted about the fact that the traditional photo of the Obamas and Trumps at the White House was cancelled and they are blaming Michelle, saying she cancelled.  Of course this was a link from a conservative news source. Michelle is way too classy and professional to throw a fit and say no picture. Saying such mean spirited things about the Obamas.  I cannot wait until after the inauguration and they can stop blaming everything on them. Or maybe they won't.

  5. I am a Democrat and proud of it, but I sometimes watch Fox News to get the other side, and sometimes listen to Rush Limbaugh, who is a vile man.  Just now, I heard him say that Republicans should not want unity with Democrats, that they should view Democrats in the same way the United States viewed Japan during WWII!  And he is already setting the stage for Trump caving on some of his promises -- and blaming the Democrats!!  What!   You idiot!  Your guy won.  Stop blaming the Democrats for everything!  I am livid.  He is poison.  I am willing to move on now, but, and my husband predicted this, they will continue to blame Hillary and the Democrats when they fail in years to come.

  6. I'm feeling better today.  I got into it with a couple of pro-Trump family members yesterday, in person and on Facebook.  I felt drained.  I read an interesting article about why Trump won.  Basically, the people in the rural, rust-belt states are angry because they are no longer a part of the middle class and they are angry at the "elites." They want to be able to earn a good living with a high school education.  They are not happy with same-sex marriage, abortion, etc.  I am no authority whatsoever, but it sounds like they want to turn back the clock.

In some ways I feel free today. No pressure. I REALLY wanted Hillary to win.  But I know that if she had won, she would have faced a roadblock for everything she wanted to do (just like President Obama). Trump has made some HUGE vague promises and now he will have to come through.  Now we can just sit back and wait for him to fail.  I know that makes me sound bitter and small, but it's how I feel.  Already I heard someone on one of the morning news shows (Today? CNN?) say that, well, you can't take his promises literally.  Really?  I think his supporters do!

Sorry for the stream of consciousness.  I am so glad this thread is here.  I hope it continues in some way so we can continue the conversation. The live chat on election night was great!

That's the beauty of wine - you don't have to drink it all at one time.  The second bottle will only get better if you let it rest for...another day (or week, or even a couple of years)

Just got home and sat down, so want to say hi to all.  I have Tempranillo now (champagne for later!)

Now I will go back and read all the posts.  Yay!!

Love Tempranillo. Oh yeah, more than one bottle is going to be consumed tonight.  Waiting for husband to get home and join me.

This is my only safe space.  My family and friends already think I'm too obsessed with all of this, and they have no idea I have my little safe house on the Internet.

I hope that after Tuesday I can go back to not giving a shit about politics.  I normally am bored to tears by elections. This whole being pants-shittingly terrified is new.

    This is so me.

  9. I am probably in the minority here, but watching the snippets from tonight's interview on Today show and GMA just makes me less sympathetic toward Jill and Jessa.  When asked directly if they are "victims" Jessa says that the whole thing is being "overblown."  But then she goes on to say that they ARE victims because the story was leaked.  So which is it, you weren't a victim then, but you are now??

And the way they smile when they are talking about this.  Who does that?  It is creepy.  They are in a no-win situation.  Their job is to defend Josh, downplay and minimize what happened. They are doing so much more harm than good.

Ugh.  Even in 2015, incest is such a taboo subject.  They are just a very bad joke now.

  10. Ugh!  The debate over whether it was legal for the records to be made public or not goes on!  WHO CARES!  The fact is, there was incest and molestation in the family and it is out now!  The parents did not handle it well at the time!  As someone said upthread, you cannot put toothpaste back in the tube.  I for one can never look at that family the same way.

I hope they saved some of that money from the show, because the party is OVER.

  11. The Talk - OMG, it was so moving.  I don't always agree with these ladies, but wow, they were spot on today.  I think it was Carnie Wilson who said that,if a very young child is molested but doesn't realize what is happening, does that make it ok?  The fact that this happened when the girls was asleep somehow makes it ok??

Another thing - I think it was Julie Chen who said that Josh was ALSO failed by the parents.  He went to them and they did not take immediate steps, basically they were in denial.

I think in general everyone in the media is disgusted with Jim Bob and Michelle.  I just do not see this show continuing in any capacity.
