And she wasn't "afraid to speak",  she participated, knew it was being videotaped, and took the tape to brag about her night with Lowe.

What's more, she and the other person involved took the tape and left when Lowe was out of the room, and the 16 year old planned to blackmail him for 2 million dollars.

I found this 1989 article, with lots of details from court filings/hearings. - AP News

Where has Abby been? Everyone and their dogs have been screaming about the Russian interference and today she says why aren't we talking about that?

I had that thought too, at first, but then i realized she was referring to what was reported last Friday in the Washington Post, which did get attention over the weekend, but got swept aside by the newer  oncoming scandals of the day.

The media simply doesn't have the time to give every scandal the coverage it deserves.  Yesterday Nicolle Wallace said that before her show started they had to scrap everything they were going to discuss because of breaking news.

    Quote

President Trump told two senior Russian officials in a 2017 Oval Office meeting that he was unconcerned about Moscow’s interference in the 2016 U.S. presidential election because the United States did the same in other countries, an assertion that prompted alarmed White House officials to limit access to the remarks to an unusually small number of people, according to three former officials with knowledge of the matter.

The comments, which have not been previously reported, were part of a now-infamous meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak, in which Trump revealed highly classified information that exposed a source of intelligence on the Islamic State.

About Rob.a little ways back he was in a show and i cant find the name of it.

That was You, Me and the Apocalypse.  On IMDB it's listed as a miniseries.  It was a good part for him, and he was especially good in it.

  4. I wondered if Meghan was correct about there being a character on The West Wing based on her father, since I wasn't aware of that.

After checking, it seems that the character Alan Alda played, Senator Arnold Vinick, was broadly based on John McCain and Barry Goldwater.  But he didn't appear until season 6, in one episode, and then was a major character in the final two seasons.

To the best of my recollection (I haven't seen it since it originally aired), Alda's character is not portrayed as a bad guy.  I'm going to assume that Meghan didn't watch the show to begin with because it was about a Democratic president and administration, and when she heard that someone was based on her father, she probably figured it was an unflattering portrayal, because that's how she would write a Democratic character.

  5. So Meghan says it's "important that (conservatives on tv) are honest about what's happening."  Has she turned a corner?

Oh, geez, she brought up her tweet rant from yesterday.  "If any of the women on this show" talked this way we'd be called, "hysterical maniac crazy bitches".  She tried to drag everyone else on the show into it, but she's the only one who regularly fits those terms and called out for it.

"Dropped f-bombs" was part of what was bleeped, referring to Robert DeNiro's interview on CNN, where he said it twice in the same sentence, referring to Fox News.  When host Brian Stelter said it wasn't an FCC violation (being on cable), but was a little much for Sunday morning, DeNiro apologized.  Meghan was horrified, though, and held herself up as a paragon of virtue.

If Meghan doesn't know about something she could just remain silent, instead of shouting that they weren't planning on discussing that, so she doesn't have her talking points.  It's pitiful what knowledge she doesn't just have in her head, without having to prepare ahead of time.  And of course she thinks she could learn all about Watergate by going the easy route and watching All the President's Men.  But she wouldn't learn about Mark Felt there, since his identity wasn't revealed until almost 30 years later.

Meghan should have specified that the Trump tweet she read was a retweet, and no, I don't think he did so in a joking manner.

Meghan grammar mistake of the day -"hard, fast" rule instead of "hard and fast".

Then how could we sympathize with her for losing her father?  She depends on her father's memory to keep her relevent.  Snort.

Maybe she's trying to boost her "dealing with grief" credentials, since, as mentioned earlier in this thread, she's scheduled to be a speaker on the subject.

That's so ironic, since I'm pretty sure people that give those kind of talks, on any number of topics, have some wisdom they've gleaned from their experience that they want to share with people.  Meghan, still in the midst of her grief, has nothing to teach anyone yet.

It's just another way to use her father's death to make herself "relevant".  She must realize, on some level, that she's only famous because of him, and doesn't have the talent, or appeal, to have a long-running career based on her own merits.  The McCain name didn't just open the door for her, it's keeping her propped up, at least for now.

  7. The fact that Meghan posts "messages" to her father on Instagram is....so sad, to say the least.  I don't doubt that she has these feelings, but she could do the same thing in a private diary and it wouldn't seem weird. She could post just the photos online, saying when and where they were taken.

She really does see the world in black and white, doesn't she?   I think her father would be the first to admit he had many faults, just like everyone else does, and you would think at 30-something years old she would realize that.

I happened be watching Reliable Sources when Robert DeNiro was on.  Speaking about a subject he's passionate about - he used an even tone of voice, clear, concise and grammatically correct sentences.  Meghan, speaking about a subject she's passionate about - raises her voice, talks a mile a minute, garbles words and sentences, and reprimands the people she's speaking to (not with).  DeNiro threw a couple of f-bombs into a sentence, and Meghan gets the vapors and says she's never done such a thing, and why aren't people getting upset about it, and oh, it must be because he's a man.

Then Meghan has to couch criticism as being criticism of "the women" on the show, in an attempt to deflect the fact that a great majority of that criticism is aimed at her, mostly because of her behavior, then her beliefs, and has next to nothing to do with the fact that she's female.

Once in a great while, Meghan, for some unknown reason, says that it's important to have reasonable discussions about issues without calling each other names and going to your respective corners, but here she does it, dividing men and women; Friday, when she went off about Adam Schiff, she was shouting (paraphrasing),"You're Democrats.  I'm a Republican (poor forgotten Abby and Ana).

It's really starting to get tiring and I have a feeling it's only going to get worse in the coming weeks.

“I feel like the media has been calling wolf. US Democrats have been calling wolf since before he was in office.”

Also, the phrase she most likely meant, "crying wolf" doesn't even fit the situation -

    Quote

    Crying Wolf Meaning

Definition: To send a false alarm for danger; to call for help when it is not needed. Oftentimes, this idiom is used to describe someone who is complaining about something or requesting help for something when help is not needed.

    Quote

The meaning of the idiom “cry wolf” is to lie.

If Abby meant the second, broader definition, she's still wrong -- the press and Democrats weren't making up what they were saying about Trump.

instead of just saying what she was supposed to say, said that she didn't have enough time, it was too long, what she needed to say.

First, she thinks she's special and should get as much time as she wants.  Doesn't she realize speaking time is limited for all of them, but everyone else manages to work within the time constraints?

Second, with as fast as she talks sometimes, she could fit more than most people into the time she has.

I didn't watch the cooking segment

You missed this, then, right before the close of the show.  They had a few minutes to fill, so one of the things Joy did was congratulate Ana on this award she was receiving.  Meghan, instead of taking part in the congratulations, while pointedly looking down, grabbed her hair from both sides and dramatically flipped it so it lay in front of her shoulders.  Anything to get the attention away from Ana.

She reminded me so much of a petulant 4 year old who's been told to behave and sit quietly, but can't restrain herself from doing something, and wants everyone to know that she's not happy about it, and is thinking "you can't control everything I do anyway, so there"!

Yes, he took what happened and put it in mafia terms. Maybe it was a mistake. But, he is doing his fucking job!  Put it in the context of everything he has done.  Schiff's job is NOT to convince Meghan of anything.

Of course! They need to convince her, remember? You heard her Congress! Make your case for Meghan otherwise NOTHING pertaining to impeachment shall move forward.

This just confirms that she really does think Republican=Meghan, in any context, and why she thinks the other hosts are criticizing her when they say the word "Republican".

The House already has enough votes to impeach.  No Meghan or any other Republicans Representatives are needed.

The Senate needs 67 votes for conviction.  There are 49 Democrats (although I don't know for certain that they would all vote in favor), and former Senator Jeff Flake said yesterday that there are at least 35 Republican senators who would vote for impeachment if they could do so anonymously(?!). The day before, Mike Murphy, a Republican operative (who once worked for Meghan's father), said he was told the same thing by a current Senator, except with the number of votes being 30.

So it sounds like nobody needs to be convinced of the facts in order to vote to remove the president.  What's needed is a supply of courage.   Maybe the hearings will contribute to that.  It will also help that support for impeachment is going up in the polls, and that was before the release of the phone call "transcript" and the whistleblower complaint.

  15. Okay, did Meghan never learn any table manners?  That leaning over and way down towards her plate looked ridiculous.  I know she was kind of far from the table, but she could've pulled the plate closer, or saved the pasta for after the show.

    Fucking hypocrite, yet again.

I had this exact thought, remembering her Twitter reprimand to Sherri.  Meghan also, after Joy was explaining how Trump's asking for a favor was "Godfather like", said, "I would prefer to just be in the now, right.  Because this is very serious" (however that relates to what Joy said).

You're welcome.  I'm in the Central Time Zone, and It's usually available to watch by 6 p.m.  It's also better than watching OnDemand, where they include all the commercials; Hulu plays just one brief commercial per break, so you can watch the show in 40 something minutes.

She also wants to get Sherri Shepherd banned apparently because a year ago Sherri told her on WWHL to "lighten up"

I was surprised how astute Sherri's advice was for Meghan (and it was advice, not criticism) -

    Quote

'It's too much to take that whole world. It's like, you are not the Republican voice. It makes you stressed. It makes you tense. So, I think just being able to lighten up a little.'

She would have been smart if she'd taken it - Instead she got all snippy on her Twitter page (that's how thin skinned she is) -

    Quote

'Sad to hear this from @SherriEShepherd - the Trump years are incredibly intense and tumultuous times. I believe all women today should be taking the world we live in and our place in it very seriously.'

The least Meghan should do, if she really thinks women should be taking the world we live in very seriously (And what about the men?  Are they exempt?") is make sure she gets the facts right when she's making a point.

And Sherri saying Meghan shouldn't feel like it's her responsibility to speak for all Republicans is kind of an offshoot of the other hosts having to assure Meghan that they're not always including her when they refer to Republicans.
