I don’t like Dorian after the way she treated Subha. She is mean. And her food is nice but not Masterchef level.

    I agree.

Dorian is a great home cook, but she hasn’t done anything awesome during the whole season.

i know is reality TV but her meltdown during the team challenge with Subha was totally out of place. They went ahead thanks to his flavors.

So Gordon says that this was the first time in 10 seasons they didn't have family come.  However, it happened in season 4.  I've been watching old seasons on Hulu, and in season 4, Kristi's son couldn't come (I assume because he was young and still in school - I think they said he couldn't miss standardized testing) and so she didn't have anyone come out.  They just had her son make a video for her.  It just bugged me.  10 seasons isn't that many that we've forgotten everything that has happened before (especially when they're all now available on streaming!)

I watched season 4 this summer on YouTube and I found the whole situation ver humiliating for her. Specially when Kristi was supposed to be the villain that season.

  3. I remember watching Big Brother in Spain and when some celebrity commentator criticized BB, a few days some of the contestants were saying bad things about that person.

some of the contestants work for the producers, just to create some drama. I have even seen fake game shows contestants who later became actors or singers.

Am I the only one not buying this?

I have a feeling there are no parents.....junkies.........jail.....divorced/family separation.........I dunno......maybe my imagination is running wild....here.

Maybe they just don’t want to be on TV.

I know I don’t want to be on any kind of mass media.

BAHAHA! Bri, FINALLY, ran out of lives!! Crazy how many times she bombed & wasn't eliminated. Hilarious when contestants think their dish is amazing & the judges think it's awful. 😂😂

We only know what the judges or producers let us know. Sometimes they are gushing about mediocre dishes (cough, cough, Micah, Dorian) while they rip apart other cooks.

I know it's freaking cutthroat.  Just yesterday, Andrea Zamperoni, big deal in NYC, was found dead.  Not looking like natural causes either.

I know from friends and ID Channel that chefs are crazy temperamental and the long hours make the resto business pretty drug friendly.

Even under the best circumstances, the public is very fickle.  In our big market (DFW), the current darling resto with lines out the door and waiting lists can be a ghost town next week.  The food, service, decor can be lovely, but a new shiny bauble will crash it all overnight.

One friend is an architect who mainly works as a interior designer in bars and restaurants and he told us that 75% of new restaurants close in a few months. Not sure if he was talking about just the Houston area or the whole country.

When I was living in the Spain in the 90s some night owners told me the same story about those business, very difficult to succeed for a  long time.

  7. I am tired of watching the last minutes of most chapters with houses gutted out and full of boxes... “we just moved” yesterday. I wish we could see them once they are fully stablished as they used to do.

I cannot figure out how Lidia is Joe's mother.  She seems so sweet and warm!

I don’t know personally Joe’s mother, but I have met many restaurant/bar owners and nice is not an adjective that I would use to describe the vast majority of them.

It it is a very rough business with many casualties. Many restaurants  close after a few months open or change ownership.

This has always been an issue on this show, and there's no consistency.  If you're Indian and you only cook French, they'll browbeat you about not being true to your culinary roots.  If you're not Indian but only cook Indian, why the heck are you always cooking Indian?

I have seen that in Chopped too.

  10. I am rooting for Noah. I know blue collar types are not very popular now, but he has being very consistent in his cooking, even without the support of the

I think Shari is a very intriguing individual. Midwest lady who can cook traditional Indian food and several other special dishes.

This year contestants seem to be more down to earth after winners like Dino (ugh) or man with a hat Shaun (ugh).

I realized at the beginning of the last episode that I was rooting for Micah and Jamie, so of course they sent Jamie home. Sorry, Micah, hope that doesn't make you next.

Don’t worry, It won’t happen, Micah, Bri and Dorian seem to have a pass from the judges.

This will never happen .... but unless there are blind taste testings in these types of food competition shows, the true winner of having the best plating, best tasting, best all around dish will never be known.

They are all scripted reality shows and I often think the winner is pre-ordained from the time they all walk on the stage for the first time. They decide who is the most photogenic, best all-around person to appeal to the masses and crown them the winner.

In MC Canada, season 3 a contestant spent a lot of time saying that it was time that a (a person like the contestant) win MC Canada... guess what... that person won.

ITA, I thought almost every dish looked completely unappetizing like the cooks were stretched too far with their creativity and were trying too hard.  Too much puree that looked like baby vomit and violent crime scenes.  On top of that the judges' criticisms seemed too harsh in some cases and too lenient in others.  It's especially obvious when they criticize the way a dish looks because we can see that.  And it didn't seem to add up.  I felt like they were gunning to find something wrong with Subha's dish but were going overboard to praise Micah's.  I didn't think his composition was so great.  Something about the way the judges acted felt disingenuous in this episode.  Every season I often feel that they are slanted in favor some contestants for no good reason and against others.  Obviously Subha is a much better cook than they are acting like he is.  I felt like they were reaching to find something wrong with his sausage but then they acted forced to admit in the end that it tasted really good.  But they do it like they don't want to do it.  Meanwhile with others they may criticize the appearance of the dish but balance it out by giving great praise to the taste.  With Subha they admit it tastes good at the very end like it doesn't matter so much.  What BS.

Suhba and Noah are the Cinderellas in this competition. No matter how well they cook, they are never good enough.

Micah and Dorian seem to be the darlings of the judges. They always find some redemption in their dishes.

I barely paid attention to this week's episodes. Fred is gone and usually for me when someone I root for is eliminated I don't pay as much attention to the show. I'm taken out of it.

The first episode kind of went by in a blur for me. All I remember is a guest judge from Chicago who does neat things with food forgot his name lol. Only dishes I remember were Nick and Jamie's. Only reason I remember Nick's is because his was in a dough mixer.

The sausage plating this week was generally bad across the board.  How many more lives does Bri have. She seriously needs to be eliminated.

Micah copied chef Achantz dish and he couldn’t stop brown nosing him about how he is his culinary hero. The next day Micah plated his food like a prison tray, but the judges gave Jamie a bad time about his plating.

Plating sausage is not difficult, but we know the judges are going to be picky no matter what you do.

  15. I like Shuba. He tries to cook his best and fusion Cajun and Indian food, no easy feat.

I hate team challenges, specially when some of the chefs want to be the center of attention.

I hate working in teams in my daytime job too. Just tell me what you want, how do you want it and when do you want it and let me alone. I will take care of it.

He just marches to a different drummer. Yes he does better in individual challenges and is so annoying in team challenges, but he is a good cook. It is like he is going through the plan in his head and knows he will get done in time, his time, despite all of Gordon's rude yelling at him

We don’t really know if he is really annoying or really disrupting in team challenges or that is the way they want us to see him.

In a nutshell, "the show is scripted"

All tv shows are scripted. I doubt many of them knew who was Grant Achantz before the show.

Reality tv is an oxymoron. It is heavily scripted. Contestants may not have a script with lines to say, but the writers and producers influence what they say.

Ugh, they've done that before and I hate it. I wonder what would happen if a. no one stepped forward or b. multiple people stepped forward or c. the wrong person stepped forward.

I'm no vegetarian but I also don't like thinking about where my food is coming from and I find it really gross when they bring in the animal they're about to cook with (obviously not that particular animal but, the species). It's offensive.

I may be wrong but I think some time ago, somebody was starting to take his apron and the judges kicked out another person. Maybe was in another MC from another country.
