  1. Regarding Sheldon's lack of any sort of sexual desire, don't forget about the exchange between Leonard and Sheldon in the first segment of the pilot episode. They go to a sperm bank to sell their sperm to earn extra money.

Sheldon: Leonard, I don’t think I can do this.

Leonard: What, are you kidding? You’re a semi-pro.

When the pilot episode is shown in syndication the first segment is omitted and the episode begins when they return home and meet Penny who is moving in across the hall. I guess the writers originally intended for Sheldon to have more desire for sex, etc. but as the show progressed there was some retconning of this part of his character.

In the original unaired pilot there is mention of Sheldon having sex.

  2. The the scene with the Supermarket King and the parking lot guy, reminded me a little bit of the film, when Steve Buscemi's character kind into it, with the toll booth guy at the airport. But, from what I remember, he had to pay in the end.

Also, the garage was Gustavson Parking Garage. Wade Gustavson was the character killed by Steve Buscemi in the parking lot in the movie.

  3. The name of the movie is "The Normal Heart".

I am not Sheldon's no. 1 fan (to put it mildly) but I'll probably watch just to see what JP does with the role.

Most people have probably seen it before, but here's a bit of Sheldon foreshadowing by Jim Parsons in the movie "Garden State."

  4. I thought we'd finally hear who won tenure in this episode. It is a hangover from last season that is making me batty.

How long does the process take once the candidates are recommended?

I'm pretty sure it will never be mentioned again. Another example of the lack of continuity on the show.
  5. As someone already pointed out, the entire premise of the Vegas wedding is BS. You have to apply for a marriage license for it to be a legal wedding.

Application: A man and woman who are unrelated and are both at least 18 years old may be issued a marriage license in Clark County. Proof of name and age will be required. Acceptable identification includes driver's licenses, passports, military ID cards and other government-issued ID cards. Other combinations of ID that contains an applicant's photograph along with an original/certified birth certificate or social security card may be presented as well. The couple must appear before a clerk at a Marriage License Bureau location -- either in downtown or at one of the outlying offices.

This plot device was already stupid when it was used on "The Big Bang Theory" earlier this season.

  6. The movie "Fargo" opens with:

THIS IS A TRUE STORY. The events depicted in this film took place in Minnesota in 1987. At the request of the survivors, the names have been changed. Out of respect for the dead, the rest has been told exactly as it occurred.

The movie is fiction but the Coen brothers cite this case as an influence:

The same text that opens the TV series with 1987 changed to 2006 is a nod to the movie.

  7. I really liked it. I caught a couple of Coen Brothers references:

    1. Norm's Pizza sign

    2. White Russian on the "Special" sign at the restaurant/diner

    Did anyone catch any others?
