The one thing Dr Phil taught me before I realized he was full of shit was that when someone says “but” it means they are about to tell you what they really think.  Alyssa said (re the Aldean song) that the racist imagery was bad BUT it’s how her side feels about small towns.  She’s good with that.

Sunny thinks students get on the dean’s list when parents contribute money to schools rather due to their own hard work? That’s pretty cynical.  (I wonder what Gabe’s grades are like.)

I actually thought she was talking about a different type of list of people who were friendly with the Dean hand she just called it the deans list), not the list about grades each quarter/semester.  Since they were talking about admissions, not once the kid was in school.

Im guessing its because he didn’t think he was moving?

There are tons of professional movers doing the move out and move in for the transfer of presidents.  I’m assuming he took the document boxes separately or earlier himself to keep.  Unless he had documents scattered all over his dressing room, no way the movers packed them in with golf shirts.  He took them and knew exactly what they were and where they were going…essentially hidden in mar a lago.

I thought a commercial for Alyssa's birthday was ridiculous. Plus I thought the puppies looked drugged.

Not a lot of happy campers there other than Alyssa and her husband. I really dislike Sunny for literally giving Alyssa the cold shoulder at the end.

Was there anything other than the puppies? My dvr cut out at that point.  Most of the birthdays have a few more things.

SUNNY HOSTIN owes ALYSSA FARAH GRIFFIN AN apology. She clearly has a problem with Alyssa.  Move your seat Sunny to a backroom. Swallow your Prima Donna pride and show some manners! Act the way you would like to be treated towards your colleagues.

    Very disappointed but not surprised.

She also seemed to make sure she didn’t react to later segments.  Alyssa’s story about spying on her sister was cute and everyone else laughed or smiled and I noticed sunny just had doom and gloom face.  She’s gotten snottier recently for some reason.  I, not a conservative by any stretch, but I think Alyssa has done as good a job as possible trying to represent the more normal side of her party.  Not sure why sunny has such a problem…but to purposely single her out that was wasn’t cool. And, as someone else posted…sunny was not in law school when Pence was governor and I doubt she was there during his tenure in congress either, unless she was in law school in her 30s.  Why lie about that…it was unnecessary and added nothing.

  6. This gun/shooting problem is not because there isn’t enough religion.  As Ana pointed out, much of the problem is caused by religious views.  Religion has always been a source of conflict…particularly when some religions teach they are the only one.  One can have very high morals without being religious or in an organized religion.

The panel was dismissive of the age issue in the very distressing Yarr shooting, unconvinced that an armed 84 year old man, apparently awakened at 10 pm, could be truly terrified on encountering a strange, 6 foot tall male at his door. That his visitor was in fact, a teen, may not, unfortunately, have been reassuring even if realized. As a senior recognizing new age-related frailties on the regular, I do think the homeowner’s advanced age is a mitigating factor.  Firing twice through his own locked door could indicate some type of mental deficit imo.  However, home invasions do occur, and self-preservation is the first law of nature. While I definitely believe racism had much to do with the homeowner’s trigger-happy reaction, and I pray for Yarr’s complete, rapid recovery, and hope he gets HUGE financial compensation, I think the racial element in this case is equaled by the need for restrictions on gun ownership.

As I understood it, he didn’t fire twice through the door.  He fired a head shot through the screen door and then, as the kid was in the ground, shot him again.  There was no attempt to break in…the guy could have just called 911 and stayed hidden somewhere. Or asked who it was first.  This didn’t have to end this way.

I'm going to disagree with the cohosts.  Does not any of them realize if that elderly man had called the police and said there was a black man trying to get in his house they most likely would have arrived with their guns drawn and who knows what would have happened?

    Probably a similar result.

As an OG Viewer from the jump, I think we are forgetting the daily, countless segments spent discussing plot points on the latest episode of Desperate Housewives & Sex and the City. Even back then I remember being frustrated because it felt like a waste of time, much like the stuff they do now. Only now it’s online.

It makes sense though…there has to be balance. Unserious topics like this allows for the panelists to show their personality and have actual disagreements on things. It also gives some variety and injects some humor into the show. And while the presentation may seem silly, there is potential to discuss real life hot topics wedged in there, even if Whoopi doth protest too much.

Agree.  I don’t watch this show for my news discussions.  It always had the lighter tone on some topics. It wasn’t designed as a news show and still shouldn’t be.  There are plenty of those shows if I want that…with better informed panelists frankly.  I like a balance.

So they are supposed to let the media tell stories that some people will believe is "the truth" without doing anything to try to correct what is said about them?

It is your opinion that she craves the attention.  People can be famous and still live normal lives.

I honestly do not understand the intense dislike Meghan seems to inspire in people.

May e because some of their “truth” has been proved to be lies…or at the least exaggerations?  The media loved them until she started showing her true self…she didn’t want to follow protocol, she didnt want the help offered to assist her in learning about how it all works ,etc.  She  thought she knew it all annd would change the stuffy monarchy and surprise…she didn’t and lost a lot of goodwill along the way.

Sunny’s stance has softened considerably regarding Will Smith. I noticed she didn’t even use one of her favorite words-“accountability.” I guess her support for his film Emancipation has gotten in the way of her ideals when it comes to “accountability.” And she’s never seen Love, Actually? Really?

It was interesting.  How much apology is enough?  He could be in jail for assault for crying out loud.  Having to resign from the Academy is his biggest punishment?  He can’t go to the awards if he’s nominated?  Boo hoo.  The guy is lucky Chris did t press charges when the police in the theater offered.  It’s sad that the movie might be hurt but that’s the way it goes.

I think the View (the producers and whoever picks the hot topics) have a low opinion of their audience.  I think they think we can only handle a few serious topics.  Barbara Walters back in the day also had a low opinion of us.  She once compared us to Walmart shoppers.  She didn't mean it as a compliment.

In fairness this show was never designed to be a heavy news discussion show.  It always has had lighter topics.  Frankly if I want a serious news talk show, I’d go elsewhere where they have actual experts and analysts. I come here for some news stuff but also some lighter topics.

I loved “Shout” ever since I saw Animal House.

I agree with @GHScorpiosRule The Crown doesn’t need a disclaimer. I know most of it is probably dramatized. Much as I respect Dame Judi Dench, she’s being a bit harsh here. That being said, I cannot wait for the new season. The trailer was awesome.

I agree with the Dame.  I think the fact that this season the show apparently pretends that  the Prime Minister and Prince Charles essentially committed treason by discussing ways to get the Queen to abdicate may have been the breaking point for a lot of people. John Majors had to come out to say it had never happened, nor any conversation at all had occurred,  and putting something like that into the show was malicious fiction. Many people, particularly in the UK, were pretty incensed by this.  I do think they should have the disclaimer, and they finally did that today.  I don’t even get why putting the disclaimer was being avoided by Netflix anyway.  And yes, there are people who think every scene has some basis in fact.

Didn't Giselle give up her career?  From everything I have heard and read Giselle is pissed because her husband retired and then changed his mind.  I don't blame her.  But of course Sunny is going to defer to what the husband wants.

And didn't he retire once before and came back as well?  And said this second one was absolutely it as he wanted time with his family?  I'd be upset as well--he's basically choosing football (and the adulation he gets) over more time with a family from whom he's spent a lot of time away since they were born.

    A) Harry is a grown man, people need to stop acting as though he’s incapable of making choices on his own.

    B) all of the negative press about Meghan Markle comes from the British tabloids - not known for their unbiased (and I use the term lightly) ‘reporting’ and royal ‘sources’ who have a vested interest in ensuring that Charles, William and their wives escape scrutiny and always appear in the best light, no matter the cost.  Dude literally threw 2 separate tantrums because his pen leaked, but instead the ‘reporting’ is  focused on Harry being banned from wearing the uniform he earned or some imagined slight by Meghan because she raised an eyebrow rather than on Charles acting like a spoiled 2 year old.  The only evidence presented that she’s selfish comes from very unreliable sources.  She’s a convenient scapegoat for the royals. Say something often enough and in a loud enough voice, people will buy in.  If you have any doubts, look at the republican party and their stellar ability to gaslight!

But then Sunny was also saying the 1.3% thing and implied that that was the percentage of women who get abortions in the third trimester when there's no medical reason.  Then when Whoppi said that a doctor wouldn't perform an abortion at six months if the mother and fetus were healthy, Sunny replied, "I don't think that's true".  Like I said in my earlier post, the entire exchange was weird and it felt like Sunny was trying to trap Sarah in something.  Like saying that because Sarah doesn't think that women should be allowed to get an abortion "just because" once they're in the third trimester makes her a secret supporter of Graham's bill or something.  I feel like that's the way she was headed anyway because Sunny was using that tone of voice that she always reserves for when she doesn't want to have a discussion with someone but wants to lecture them on how they're wrong and she's morally superior, which was odd since Sunny herself hasn't been pro-choice for very long so to go from, "I don't believe in abortion" to "abort at any point during the pregnancy" is a very big swing.

I'm sure this topic will come up again (probably this week) so if they continue with the conversation maybe we can get some clarity on what Sunny was trying to say.

I’ve always read that that’s the percentage of all later term abortions and that almost all (if not all) of those have to do with either the health of the mom or the viability of the fetus.

I think about Alyssa's weird argument that "We all started as equals here," referring to why Presidents don't boss servants around, like King Charles was doing in the video.

I mean...for one, we did not ALL start as equals here. And Presidents, I imagine, can be pretty imperious, just like any other powerful person.

Yeah I give him a pass on this one…he’s grieving and has had non stop travel and events since then.  I’m sure he’s exhausted and sad.

About the student loan forgiveness proposal: I think Alyssa made the most sense when she said that it doesn't address the problem of how expensive colleges and universities are even when they already have tons of money. They get away with charging exorbitant tuition.  Most helpful would be to have those issues addressed.

I think Sunny illustrated another issue (although I don't think she intended to) when she pointed out that when she wanted to study in Europe, she took out loans that she only finished paying off a few years ago. We don't know how much she borrowed, how much she put into her payments, and so on, which all affects how much debt and how long it takes to pay off, but if she finished her education when she was around 28-29 years old, it took about 23 years to pay off. The point that I think was implicit in this is that she didn't realize how much interest would accrue and how long it would take. It would help with future student loan pain if the lending company must be explicit about the terms of the loan, interest, penalties, etc. instead of having those details down in the weeds of the documentation. Make this all very clear UP FRONT and in bold letters so there's no misunderstanding later. Perhaps then people would think twice about getting these loans.

Alyssa wasn't wrong in her opinion on other things that might be helpful but implying that her party is going to support any of those was ridiculous.  She must know that they won't support any of it...some of those ideas have already been tried and can't get passed because of the R's.  A bit disingenuous I thought.  However, I did think she was more palatable than MM--she's a bit more upbeat, willing to engage in fluffy topics, etc.  Time will tell.

Also--the last half of todays show on the west coast was lost because of the announcement about the Queen.  Anything fun or interesting--and how did whoopie end the show early?

I'd forgotten Joy had an ectopic pregnancy at one time. I'm glad she brought it up today because, despite what Elisabeth would like to believe, women with ectopic pregancies will be affected by these abortion bans. It's too bad Whoopi felt restrained by the need to be polite because she's only there for one day, I'd have loved if Whoopi had felt free to say what she really thinks. Thankfully, the others don't feel that restrained going by this second segment.

This "correction" post-commercial with Joy, please... If it's an embryo and no longer an egg, and life begins at conception, then it would still be "murder" according to Elisabeth's logic. So, yes, it is relevant to the conversation she began--and it highlights what nonsense that kind of inflammatory language is.

Go Sara! I'm glad someone was there to give the other side as far as Christians go--not all of us Christians are like Elisabeth, with her judgmental spiel. And I loved Sunny bursting the bubble at the end of the topic, after the whole discussion had been about what the Bible says as if we're living in a theocratic state, by wondering why what the Bible says should have relevance to what the law is in a country where there's supposed to be freedom of religion.

And these Christians are picking and choosing, as always.  Isn’t there a lawsuit in FL brought by Orthodox Jews saying the anti abortion laws interfere with their religion?  So the Torah (aka for Christians the Old Testament, more or less) clearly approves.

OMG!!  I had enough of her within the first minute!  She’s even worse now than she was when I’m the show.  And she still covers all of her awfulness wit that veneer of “sweetness” which makes it even worse.  And no Elisabeth, there aren’t tons of non profits out there “wrapping their arms around” pregnant women and women who’ve been forced to have a baby. Maybe until the birth to make sure you have that baby but not so much after.  I didn’t know it was possible to find someone worse than MM…but somehow she is.

Where’s Will Smith been for the last few  months with his apology?  Guess his wallet is suffering so he finally had to say something.

A local radio show host said she was a producer before and thought this was such a produced and fake “apology”. Many also noted he doesn’t really say he’s sorry.  He was hoping that the backlash would fade and it hasn’t and so he now decides he needs to do something  to  try to win people and studios back.  I don’t think it was that real.

I’m with Sara that Dems backing extreme Magas is incredibly risky, especially(Sunny) because of voter suppression.  If you bet wrong things will only get worse.

That video of the little girls at Sesame Place makes me so sad. Their little faces looked so shocked and disappointed.

I’d like more info on the sesame place incidents.  From what I’ve read, now and before all this happened, these characters have extremely limited sight and lack of mobility.  If it’s straight out racism, then they need to be fired and everyone retrained.  But I’d like more info first.  For example, the little girl who was knocked over.. I’m not so sure that was intentional. Looked more like the costume is unwieldy and they couldn’t stop quickly enough.  It would be interesting to have someone try the costume on to see exactly what they can and can’t see when they’re in it.
