  1. On the flip side though, Kate seems to be having trouble reining in her inner monster. That's got to be disruptive to the sort of cool-headed tactics that allowed Allison and Chris to be so effective against the Alpha Pack (while Scott, Derek, and co. did their best Keystone Cops impression). I think the biggest danger in the Hunter's eyes would be compromising their mission statement rather than the physical risks of fighting such a were-creature.

  2. They wouldn't necessarily boo Shelley, but they could have booed or remained silent when Stiles/Malia were being discussed. Instead there was cheering.

As proven by the deafening sound of one person in the whole Wolf Watch studio audience clapping when Dylan was talking up the romance.

I'm glad to hear that Shelley was treated nicely by the fans at the panel. I hope that continues at the smaller show-specific events. Those seem a more likely place for the sort of fans that engage in tumblr shipping wars to make their displeasure known.

  3. I cannot believe that an amazing actor like Regina King is merely an afterthought on show. She should be one of the members of the CDC team, maybe their boss.

Amen to that. While I can't really knock the acting on the show (most everyone is doing the best they can with the horrible writing), it's a criminal misuse of King's talent to only have her in the occasional scene pestering Marilyn Manson 2.0 about his concert schedule. I hope she has a bigger part to play later on.

Without his make-up and prosthetics, that Eichorst dude really looks like Lord Voldermort!  And, hey, he even has a wig that looks better then Cory Stoll's!

That's not saying much; Phyllis Diller had wigs that look better than Stoll's. There's been so much notice of how bad that thing is, I'm wondering if whoever wrangles and feeds it is going to have trouble finding future work in television.

  4. The thing is, I think there was plenty of room for a possibly bisexual interpretation of Derek's character in Season 1 and very early Season 2 when he was forever cornering Jackson in the locker room/showers or leading him off into the woods at night. That's changed over time as more has been revealed about his love life and his stalking half-dressed teenage boys has been dialed down, but I can certainly see why people thought there was fertile ground for putting him in slash pairings early on.

  5. I imagine it'd be a lot harder to fake stubble or a buzzcut on someone who's actually bald than just giving them a full hairpiece. We could be making fun of hair drawn on with a sharpie instead of a bad wig...

  6. I don't know, they seemed pretty hostile when they faced off in the vault. Of course, they might both have fiendish plots to benefit from weird chages forced upon Derek, with some of the effects we've seen due to Kate's and some to Peter's.

  7. Are there any solid theories (or even spoilers) on what the deal is with Derek losing his wolf powers?

I'm at a loss, since it was only a few episodes ago that teenaged Derek had his healing supercharged from the werewolf norm (how did Deaton know to check for that, anyway?) and was able to singlehandedly outfight opponents that took down Scott, Malia, and Kira in short order. I also don't get why his eyes suddenly reverted to yellow after he regained his adult form. It would have made sense earlier if he'd been de-aged to a point before Paige's death or if what's happened to him counted as a sort of spiritual rebirth that wiped the slate clean, but I don't see how gaining 50 lbs. of muscle and stubble removes indications of past misdeeds.

  8. I can see the code being part of Chris arc this season, he'll come back around to Allison's version but for a while he's going to be all No Mercy to anything supernatural.

He's actually being more of a benevolent mentor type than ever with regard to Scott and the Liam situation. Which strikes me as a good way for hunters to actually achieve the goal of protecting people: form relationships with well-meaning alphas and help them keep new werewolves in line so there aren't victims to avenge in the first place. That also nets the hunters super-powered allies they might be able to call on when dealing with the evil supernaturals.

  9. Would actually any of us behave like that? would you "just want to go back to your family" when you are sick with a deadly illness and contagious?

I normally avoid visiting my family when I have a sore throat or cold to keep them from catching it, so I'm thinking a big fat no to seeing them just after arriving on a quarrantined flight that killed 98% of my fellow passengers and gave me tinnitus, unexpected bleeding, and the complexion of modeling clay.

  10. I don't mind that, as best friends' parents coupling up strikes me as a Disney type of storyline rather than soap opera. I like Sheriff Stilinksi's and Melissa McCall's current friendship just fine, no added romance needed.

Why couldn't they have had Lydia and Malia taking a class where the latter's education level wouldn't make her participation ridiculous? Maybe an elective in the Arts or an introductory foreign language class (assuming there are any commonly-offered ones Lydia doesn't already speak) where they might be able to start on roughly even footing? They could still get the fish out of water scenes, and since Lydia seems to quickly pick up the knack for everything they could still have her be the one offering advice to a stumped Malia as long as the class project wasn't about avoiding contamination of forensic evidence at crime scenes.

  11. Was very happy to not see Bubba in the show. Probably the absolute worst character in the books.

    Amen to that.

I'm thankful the show didn't add Quinn. He was pointless in the books and the way he always said "babe" irked me.

I only recall reading one book with Quinn before quitting the series, but I heard his voice in my mind as Cartman's from South Park, which made his speech quirks entertaining in a way Harris probably never intended.

  12. I think the show missed a good opportunity with Isaac. Instead of a counter-intuitive relationship with Allison that looked to me as if it had no foundation apart from Jeff Davis knowing the actors had dated in real life (and man, how awkward would filming their make-out scenes have been given that they were broken up?), they could have expanded his hero worship of Scott into an actual, unrequited crush, which would have (1) tied his storyline in closer to the main plot, (2) highlighted Scott's leadership as he tried to let Isaac down easy while preserving their friendship and roles in the pack, and (3) given some positive LGBT representation without having to go against the established orientation of any of the main characters. (Danny unknowingly dating an adult murderer doesn't quite fit that last criterion as far as I'm concerned.)

  13. so here's another question I have: How did zombie girl manage to make it to her dad's house? She strolled out of the morgue with nobody seeing? I realize the pathologist was busy being eaten by vambies, but the building itself wasn't on lockdown with security all over the place? And then she walks to her dad's place? What, does he live right down the street?

A zombie-esque little girl riding public transportation at night without anyone paying attention to her is one of the plot points I didn't have trouble believing.

  14. Well, they're probably not casting from a pool that includes Oscar winners when looking for extras willing to play Naked Autopsy Vampire #3. Though I'm now imagining Dame Judi Dench and Sir Anthony Hoplins doing quick cameos as such...

  15. Would the authorities really have waited around all that time for the CDC to open up the plane, rather than assuming that everyone going silent a few minutes after a flight landed might more plausibly be caused by terrorists or some sort of fire/chemical leak that would knock out/kill everyone at once? I know I sure wouldn't be thinking extremely punctual Ebola virus as the likeliest explanation.

Or maybe in this setting the CDC takes over every situation thanks to Jackass McToupee? "Ferry's running ten minutes late—must be a bubonic plague outbreak. Quarrantine Staten Island immediately!"

  16. With the peril that the crew is in every week (like terrorists firing RPGs at the Americans) I've been wondering what kind of action we'll see next.  Anthrax outbreak?  Category five hurricane?  PIRATES?  The suspense is killing me.

    Sharknado!

  17. Given Kira's parents wanting to move back to New York and unknown parties hunting down supernaturals in Beacon Hills, I'd say she's the top orphan candidate among the main cast. I'd hate to lose the Yukimaras, but I'd hate to lose Sheriff Stilinski or Melissa McCall a lot more.

  18. Oh, at least the pilot was already filmed by then - I remember seeing photographs. If I'd thought anything I wrote would have resulted in changes other than how the TV promos were edited, my "expectations" would have borne a suspicious resemblance to Wonderfalls.

  19. Danny was the goalie for the lacrosse team sophomore year, so having the unknown kid in goal for tryouts does imply that he was absent and not just standing around off-camera.
