Don't worry, Kelli will make her a one-and-done...

    Yes please!

Has that story about her "dating' that Cowboys Player ever been confirmed? I hate to say it but she has that look in her eyes...  I didn't know either she all but vanished from the DCC stage??

If Alora Rose's heart truly is in NYC, I would expect she'll retire and head back east. It sounds like Broadway is planning to reopen in the fall and their audition/practice season runs about the same time as DCC to audition for and then practice for the fall shows. I'll be surprised if she stays.

Of course. They already use recruiters for DCC candidates. They are pretty mum about that - probably because they want to keep their golden image that it is such a desired and honored team that ladies will travel from everywhere on the globe to be part of it. Truth is, some of these ladies are targeted and courted well in advance. Telling Megan what she wanted to hear for the sake of a storyline and ratings in season 5 is by no means a stretch. Makes me wonder if season 4 was blah, and they needed some Megan F. back to spice it up again. She was quite memorable and beautiful and they used her for the sake of a tv show.

SO true! They mentioned during auditions that Megan F. hadn't improved. So WHY EVEN TAKE HER BACK?!? The fact that they did it for some drama is just another indication that they started to sacrifice the team itself (and the women on it and trying out to be on it) for the sake of TV and that sweet, sweet $$$ from CMT. Just so sad. I'm trying to remember her last name, her first name is Shelly (not Bramhall) and she did a guest appearance as a kickline/jumpline coach in one of the early seasons, she's tall, blonde, and a former DCC AND she was (and maybe still is) a recruiter for them.

it really takes guts to go out for another squad after getting dropped from DCC...because they're the best of the best, so anything else is automatically a downgrade and being on a lower-tier squad is a constant reminder. (or at least that's how i would feel lol.) it's admirable that she's putting that aside to keep doing what she loves—dancing, on a team—regardless of squad reputation. kudos to her. she's a cutie, and i have a soft spot for her

she wasn't the best dancer, but she was good enough, and i think the fact she seemed to be a really loved teammate says a lot

With all due respect, they WERE the "best of the best." Sadly, Kelli and Charlotte have sacrificed that "world class" aspect for $$$ from CMT and being reality TV personalities. The created drama, the fake tension, cutting wonderful, outstanding veterans AND promising rookies in the name of TV show ratings has tumbled the DCC and the DCC brand into the land of being about the same as any other NFL team. It's hard to say exactly when the show - and the DCC powers that be - jumped the shark. But the last few seasons and teams have been anything BUT "world class."

I was browsing through Reddit and someone guessed Tess, Maddie, Lexie, Savannah, Brianna, and Amanda as being the remaining six who were retiring. In response, someone said all but two of those guesses were correct. 👀👀

also hi!!! Long time lurker finally posting, took forever to get an account approved 🤣

My guess would be Maddie and Lexie are staying. Maybe Maddie and Amanda? But I would expect Maddie wants to get the Pro Bowl spot this year and Lexie would want to be a group leader. I hope Tess isn't staying. It's wayyyyyyyyy past time for her to retire. (And wayyyyy past time for Maddie too, I think. Going to be interesting to see what kind of physical shape she's in for auditions.)

Maybe I'm terribly wrong with my observations here but it seems to me that the group of people who show up for prelims are quite diverse. They just do not seem to make it to training camp... Now is it the barriers that stop qualified dancers or is it because for years, the organisation could not see past the Texas blonde, blue-eyed girls??

As for my thoughts on removing barriers: The biggest barrier in my opinion is the still pretty meagre pay in exchange for a disproportionally big amount of your time which severely limits you in professional job opportunities.  Over the years, we have seen many girls who tried to juggle fulltime jobs with training camp. Think of missed extra dance classes during the day or no time to rehearse what was taught they day before because of work. And most failed to make the team.

So unless you have rich parents, a wealthy sponsor or husband or won the lottery, you are simply not going to make it....

The DCC has a huge diversity problem and it starts right at the top. When it comes to the DCC, the Jones family STILL cannot see past the white, not-too-bright, blonde-haired, blue-eyed, submissive girl whose only goal is marriage as their ideal DCC. That standard and attitude is embraced by Kelli and Judy and Kitty, etc. I love the team and the show but OMG, if there's an organization that is MORE stuck in the 1980s in EVERY way than the DCC - from approach and attitude to diversity (lol) to appearance to uniform to style, I can't name one. Women of color are GRUDGINGLY accepted onto the team and only after they undergo far, far more scrutiny and criticism than the white women in Training Camp.

I just watched the episode with Alexandra (season 8, maybe?) and they DEFINITELY brought in someone special to work with her hair.  And truly, they should, because extensive training for textured hair is no joke, and you want someone who isn't going to screw up someone's natural hair.  Which takes me back to everyone at Tangerine freaking out about Yuko's hair.  You can tell when people don't get out of their usual wheelhouse very often.  At any rate, I had to snicker at Kelli's level of ridiculous when she was saying it was the first time she had heard things like "unit" and "weave queen."  They've had plenty of ladies with extensions and weaves since she's been doing makeovers, but okay girl!

Maybe it'll be similar to Savannah.  She'll never be the strongest in DCC style despite her technical background, but has really improved over the years and she blends in just fine.  Plus, great on appearances and probably Camp DCC, etc. as well.

I have to admit, I was a little surprised that Kelli seemed to know so little about wigs, how they're worn and wig maintenance during Kat's makeover.

Doubt if Kat is going anywhere. Honestly it’s safer to keep all the vets and fill the few spots with recruits so doubt there’s a bloodbath this year.

I agree. With everything so discombobulated, my guess is they keep all or most of the vets. I expect there have been or will be some behind-the-scenes conversations with some of the vets who would likely be cut (ie Christina, Jalyn, Meredith, Lily, Kat, possibly Savannah, would be my guesses) on the expectations if they return, etc., maybe to nudge them toward a graceful pre-TC exit via retiring vs. public humiliation of being a vet cut during TC on TV.

There have been three confirmed that I know of for sure from the people themselves.  Heather and Amy are for sure confirmed and either Molly or Miranda (can't remember which).  Someone mentioned that, on one of the podcasts, Kelli said that there were 31 vets confirmed returning, then later said there were 30 confirmed so we'll have 7 people NOT coming back, but only 3 for sure.  The other 4, plus any possible veteran cuts, are up in the air at the moment.

Every year, I hope that Christina gets cut, ahem "retires", but every year she keeps coming back so I won't believe she'll be leaving the team until she's actually gone and stays gone.  Thus, despite the fact that her solos are absolutely ABYSMAL and she's so boring that she makes vanilla look exciting and fresh, she's practically guaranteed a spot unless she completely borks things.  I also agree that Meredith will like stay unless both Charlotte and Kelli are bored with her already, don't like her constant memory mistakes and that she seems to be resting on said connections (and her looks) to stay on the team.  Jalyn, I think is one of the girls to be most at risk given how everything happened around the time of Show Group auditions.  She may or may not be one of the people retiring because she KNOWS Kelli is looking for a reason to cut her and that Kelli will either find one or make up something that she thinks people will believe and that won't cause an uproar on social media.

If all were fair, I would think that Victoria, Lily, Meredith, Kat and possibly Kristen are all shots for being cut, but, since all is NOT fair, Victoria will not only be safe, she'll be promoted beyond any other second year vet and have a spot in the triangle and possibly be the one to rotate into the point spot.  After all, there were two points last year so Maddie will get Amy's portion and Victoria will take over Maddie's portion.

Oh crap.  I did it again, didn't I?  I gave them ideas.  *headdesk*  When will I LEARN?

Lol! Molly mentioned on one of her IG posts that she's retiring this year, which made me sad, because she has always been one of my favorites.

Honestly, I have to agree with you about Christina too. I like her story and her perseverance but it always perplexes me when these girls try out for SO LONG, through a process that is s physically, mentally and emotionally grueling, MAKE it through Training Camp and onto the team, then either let themselves go physically and/or collapse performance-wise or fall back into the same habits that got them cut from TC or auditions before.

    Meredith and kat

    Christina, Lily, Jalyn.

Meredith has a guaranteed spot due to her Jones family connections. I'd say Kat might be one of the "on the bubble" storylines but gets back on the team for the sake of diversity and being a foil, with her slightly ditzy, outgoing personality, to make VK appear mature and grown-up.

I am really curious to see if Christina and Brennan try out for another season, especially Christina, who appeared to have struggled performance-wise and in balancing her full-time job with her DCC TC obligations.

  10. This might have (and surely HAS) been asked and answered but I couldn't find it with a quick scroll. How many vets, as of the close of the first round auditions, are DEFINITELY retiring? And how many have definitely stated they will return? Please and thank you very much! Also, you all are wonderful! I enjoy this forum SO MUCH!

i think Maddie is a very boring point, and I'm cringing at the thought of another year, or 2 or 3, of her as point.

I love Maddie and I have loved her STORY since she returned the second year. However (and I say this as someone who falls over her own feet walking), she's never struck me as being a powerhouse dancer and if it's glamour you are looking for, she's not the gal to bring it. She has always come off as a more tomboy type of personality and physique (which is expected, she grew up in her mom's dance studio). She also has appeared to have a slight jiggle a couple of times, I think at last year's field audition (?) she was a little "fluffy." I was not impressed with either Amy or Maddie at point this season. I expect you're right though about her having a hold on that point spot. I wonder if they'll have a backup since Maddie has had a recurring hamstring injury? IF Bridget (the OBVIOUS point and/or backup, IMHO) is retiring, that gives TPTB the perfect excuse to slide their little pet VK into the backup spot and then into point.

They didn't use All Stars last year.  Shelly said it costs more to use an All Star in a game, so I would think they are trying to move away from that.  And if it's true that over 1500 auditioned, there should be plenty of potential rookies.

And God help us if the uber-wealthy Jones family had to pay extra for an All Star! Char and her kiddies might have to cut their Med cruise on the family's $250 mil super yacht a day short.

I think there will be quit a few cuts at finals/training camp

Rookies? I'm thinking that with 30ish vets returning and knowing they have All Stars to put in for those 6-7 open spots, they can be REALLY choosy for this season's rookie TC class. I have to think it would take a HUGE screw up from a vet to get cut at finals or during Training Camp.

  14. Spoiler

I would love to see an episode that introduces the behind-the-scenes staff of the DCC and talks about what they do. Judy has assistants, presumably Kelli does too. Let's see how they make DCC operate.
Get rid of the atrocious theme song.
Either get the rights to the actual music that goes with the routines or match appropriate music to the routines.
STAHP with the Star/Cowboys product infomercials. It's awkward and embarrassing.
Show more of the individual group rehearsals and the rookies-only and/or vets-only rehearsals.
Show more of the events that the SG and other DCCs do in the off season.
Film and show the post-game victory celebration song and dance that the DCC does in their locker room.
Film and show a whole training camp session.
Refresh the audition judging panel (not a show thing but a DCC thing, I know.) I love Neal McCoy as a singer but Neal is 61 and him leering over girls who are young enough to be his daughter or granddaughter is getting kind of creepy.

They have plenty of All Stars (not to mention upper year vets) who could mentor girls (and actually know/have experienced current conditions).

Melissa wasn't even that great as a DCC. She didn't seem to grasp the concept of traveling across the floor/field, Kitty (or someone) called her whiny a couple of times and she just never really stood out. There are other DCC alumni and All Stars who would be MUCH better mentors and coaches than Melissa, Sarah Gourley Idziak, for example, or Jennifer Colvin, who taught some of her choreo this past season. I've also thought Melissa is pretty snotty and downright mean when she talks about the ladies who audition badly or who don't fit the DCC look in the first few rounds. I've also often had the thought that Judy isn't the biggest fan of Melissa and her role. There was a famous moment with Maddie in her rookie season when Melissa told Maddie to smile more and Judy said to Melissa, "So THAT'S why we brought you in! As the smile coach!" and the sarcasm was EPIC.

I really need CMT or DCC to get the rights to the songs so when I see them dancing, I see them dancing to the right songs.  In addition, for the reruns, please get better songs that match the dancing if you cannot play the original song.  That shit drives me insane!

OMG, YES! AT LEAST get elevator music WITH THE TEMPO THAT MATCHES THE DANCE THEY'RE DOING!! Denise Dicharry's OUTSTANDING drumline routine was set to the actual music for the first season. When that season went into reruns, they set it to some horrible music that isn't even the same tempo!

Yes she did work full time, at least her first time in TC, and I think she had one of those jobs where she only got certain amount of time for breaks/lunch. Then (again IIRC) I think it was also Kyndall who had a boss that was kind of a jerk and possibly released/fired her. I can’t recall if that was her 1st or 2nd TC and if her firing was addressed on the show or on the forums. Anyway, the clock in the background of Melissa/Megan C mentoring session indicated that it was 4pm. Very possibly she just couldn’t get off work in time.

Side rant: I always thought it was kinda shitty for the girls who have to work to live/eat/survive are competing against girls who live with their parents, work (at most) 10 hours a week, who don’t go to school, and who don’t have to cook/clean/shop/bring home the bacon. They are probably so exhausted and stressed. No wonder they are always crying.

I wonder just how many are working full time or going to school full time anymore? They used to focus on the jobs the ladies had and they've veered away from doing that as much, which makes me think they are not enforcing that rule (request?) and that fewer girls are working full time jobs. I think Christina was the only one whose job was shown last season, in the cheesy scene with retired vet Danielle, in an office with absolutely NOTHING ELSE in it. Bridget mentioned working as a veterinary assistant and she's not doing that anymore.

I dont call it weak. I call it COWARD. But thats my opinion and I respect yours. But thats how I see Kelli, not weak but a coward. Too coward to stick up for herself with her so called BFF Tina over her daughter VK.

I mean you got daughters who CAME from a legacy background and how many of them got given this much free pass to DCC? Take that girl (from about 7  years ago) whose mother was Natasha something (cheered 1985 or 1987?), what about the other 2 who came when Dayton and Victoria was "rejected" last year? What about Dayton? Yes Dayton made the damn mistake of being late to her makeover, but come over that girl can FREAKING DANCE better than VK. What about Meredith? Didn't Judy "hate" her on her final season because she gained weight and Kelli and Charlotte wouldnt let Liz Router into TCC and Judy just was pissed with some people? Cassie yes ... was given basically "a free pass" esp in her last season, I feel esp with her leg injury. Maybe thats why Jay Johnson isnt shown on tv as much because he questioned why they were being "lenient" towards Cassie having an injury and allowing her a "free pass" to TCC, whilst other vets were given harsh talking to for gaining weight or cut completely without a chance ec

Her current IG takeover .... LOL omg ha the vid of her doing that lyrical, is VK like 2 counts behind everyone else and the others are going "too fast"? Seems to me she is the one who is damn slow and behind everyone else.

Does anyone have a screenshot of Rachel saying Heathers gone back to Arizona? I don't follow her on IG and definately missed that insta story. I cant believe Heathers gone. I guess this means Heather wouldnt be considered for 20/21 all stars? I was actually surprised Heather had a long distance relationship for that long. I thought her bf would have relocated to texas after a while or stayed at his job and looked for a job in texas to be closer to Heather. I guess well done to her for making that work.

What was Heather being punished for?

OMG, yes! I am glad I'm not the only one who's noticed this! It seems like over the years, TPTB has moved more toward the "little girl" look and manner of speaking, etc., vs. promoting the image of mature, accomplished women. Women who act like mature, intelligent adults, in speech and poise, are few and far between these days when the squads of the early to mid 2000s had plenty of them. Lauren was one, Heather is another, Caroline is another but they are definitely an endangered species in the DCC ranks nowadays!
