I think he may be worried about fraud. The woman at Reese Witherspoon's company specifically cited "working with these young women" as one of the reasons for their agreeing to the deal. Now that Charles knows about Liza, entering into that contract might be seen as an act of bad faith. They could lose the deal, or get sued, get a bad reputation and find it difficult to work with other companies, etc. I thought his holding off made sense. It's the rash decision to agree without seeming to consult anyone about the ramifications of the deal that made no sense to me.
