Of course, many candidates come from outside Dallas/Ft. Worth, but as stated above by other posters, there is NO EXCUSE for the lack of diversity in DCC. In particular, for the young girls in DFW who attend cheer camps and other DCC events, wouldn't it be nice if they could see more faces that look like them?
Stop fixating on the legacies. Start focusing on building a team that represents the future. Rant over.
Personally, when I was a little girl, I looked up to the squads from about 2005 and forward. I would pull my mom out of her bed so we could watch videos or watch MTT because I was hellbent as a little one that I wanted to be a DCC one day. obviously, things have changed and that's no longer something that I wanted to do, but back then, seeing Black women who looked like me was everything. Literally everything. Seeing Monica Cravinas, Sasha Agent, Jackie Bob, Shenythia Frazier, the GOAT Nicole Hamilton, Deryn Derbigny, and so on, made me think 'I can really do this, they really look like me'.
It's annoying and disappointing to see that teams that were full of so much diversity, so many different skin tones, so many different women who didn't all look like carbon copies of each other are basically non existent now. Now the focus seems to be on Victoria and them trying to find another Abigail Klein.

YES. KJC need to make a conscious, intentional effort to make a more diverse squad. They need to expand their definition of beauty and of what makes a good dancer.
BTW, if y’all want to see a 🔥🔥🔥 diverse squad that absolutely slays, check out the Brooklynettes. The DCC could definitely learn a thing or two from them.
YESSSSSSS this is one of my fav NBA squads! i can never pinpoint one of my favorite routines from them because most of them i absolutely LOVE.

there is no real reason for DCC to not be a diverse squad; they're in DFW, one of the most populous places in the US. there are plenty of dancers who have come through and been DCC's who were middle class or weren't relying on mommy and daddy's money, so you can't say that that's the reason why there aren't a lot of WOC auditoning, making it to TC, and ultimately the team. there needs to be some searching within the organization as to WHY. there are plenty of WOC showing up to auditions, but not being chosen to move to semis, finals, TC, and the team.
i'm over the diversity debate because there is no way around it -- there's something going on within the DCC organization as to why only 3 black women, 1 south asian woman, and 1 latina made it to TC, knowing that all of them possibly won't even make the team. that's up to KJC to figure out what is up with the talent pool, how they can better recruit, and get more women onto the squad who aren't blonde, brunette, blue eyed, white women.
my old dance studio was the same way. you know how they fixed the problem? they started reaching out to different communities. it started as a predominantly black and other POC dance studio, but eventually, began to mix and mingle and now is pretty diverse whenever i go back to say hello.
there is no reason for the poor diversity on the team, and KJC should be ashamed of the fact that it is one of the least diverse teams in the NFL. you're 'America's Sweethearts' right? then fucking act like it.

This should be an interesting season with two legacies who have ties to K & J
We all know which one will get more of K&J's attention, regardless of how talented and poised the other one is.

is it weird that i'm hoping raven puts on a brave face and comes back to try out next year? i understand how embarrassing it is to have been so late that she missed her meeting, but she's a cute girl who has good power and can dance really well from what we've seen on her ig.
anyway, my counts for rookies:
- kat
- shaina
- chandi
- meredith
- kristin
- amanda
- ashley
- gina

looks like Malena is done and we won’t be seeing her again. I have to admit, I do love how hard she tried and everything she put on the line to try out, but good on her for recognizing that this isn’t for her.
3 minutes ago, MrsEVH said:I guess that solves the mystery. Didn't that Tiffany girl who was documenting it say it was a vet who was late? I give Raven credit for still showing up for finals. Surprised they let her perform her solo ( I'm assuming she did) even though she didn't do the interview. Also give her credit for admitting why she was late. I guess it's better to put it out here than try and hide it. I wonder if she'll try again next year?
She said a vet retired and another candidate was late.

Now that we know who was late, please stop spreading the rumor that’s Gabby was late. And for those lurking the forum who don’t have an account 🗣 READ THOROUGHLY AND STOP SPREADING FALSE INFORMATION 🗣
anyway, nice to see that we have another legacy! she’s very cute and seems to have more talent in her pinky nail than a certain legacy. rooting for her to succeed and make the team and make her momma proud!

I get that people hate her or whatever (and this isn’t just directed at this one comment) but you all need to chill. SO MANY non vets have sat in that first row. Even tcc hopefuls who then have not made it. I specifically remember 2 in the last couple of years because they were friends with my daughter and I was paying close attention but I’m sure they were not the only 2. Both did so in the first year they auditioned even when they were total “nobodies”.
Also, if you get up to go to the bathroom OR are returning after your solo or after being interviewed and walk into the sitting area just as they are starting another solo, you grab the first seat available until it’s over. That is the most likely reason for VK to be sitting in two different seats in two different pics. I know that doesn’t fit with the belief that she’s rude and selfish but it’s still the most likely.
I’m sure there are reasons to not like her so no need to make something out of nothing.
We established that other non vets have sat front row pages ago.

I’m automatically a Kat Puryear stan, so I’m hoping to not be disappointed. #CLTRISEEEEE
but I’m kinda sad Tiffany Taliafero didn’t make it, i was rooting for her.

I hope we get the full story on Gabby. She was not the cookie cutter DCC and brought something different to the squad. Sad to see her cut. But late to your panel interview usually spells doom.
Lol, reminds me of Godzilla and the other monsters. Ghidorah is the 3-headed monster. KJC are now Ghidorah!

You are assuming they have souls.
We all know Charlotte sucks up the souls of the women she finds prettier than her by opening her eyes wide as hell. Kelli hides them in her pompadour. Judy hides them in the roots of all that damn hair.

If they don't have enough woc trying out to have more than 3 to 4 girls in the training camp class (this isn't even the final team - it could end up being just Ashlee and Brianna), then they should do some soul searching about why that is and/or recruit better. This is supposedly the top NFL dancing team that there is. This is also Dallas, TX, the fourth largest metro area in the United States, not a small town in Idaho. It should not be that hard.
But beyond that, we know that they take girls with a variety of issues every year. It's not just VK. Girls make it into training camp and on to the team all of the time with issues, so it's all subjective as it is.
BINGO! Winner winner chicken freakin dinner!

It’s annoying. You’ll keep veterans who f*ck up the kickline, you’ll keep veterans who gain a NOTICEABLE amount of weight, you’ll put your best friends daughter on the team after not only disrespecting you but also one of your most beloved Alumni. Again, I’m not saying to take POC just to take them, but Kelli, Judy, And Skeletor- i mean, Charlotte, need to do some looking back and think of the WHY is it that fact that over half of the squad are blonde, brunette, blue eyed, white passing women.

Nobody said they had to take POC just to take POC. I understand the pocket of talent is smaller auditioning every year, but there has to be something said when there are a sea of blondes and brunettes and only 3-6 minorities make it to TC, not even counting the ones who actually make the team.

whew Chile...y’all have been in here having a field day.
anyway, Gabby’s post was sweet and she’s such a sweet heart.
Last I’ll say about diversity is once again, there needs to be some investigating as to why so many WOC aren’t trying out or making the team as of late. nobody said anything about them having to take WOC just to take them regardless of how they dancing, so don’t imply that. that’s enough of that, so let’s just enjoy the VK show. 🙂
