  1. Sorry, but I must return to the Lume ads- now in addition to the odious Dr. Shannon, some bug-eyed minion of hers is telling us that she works for Lume, and how to get free Lume products when we order (as if!). She's marginally more bearable than Dr. Shannon, BUT why is she filming this ad in a room that has 2 different-colored toilets in it?? (Couldn't find the clip to attach here, but it's on all the time)

  2. Ugh at Pumpkin being willing to give 'June Bug' more chances to screw up her relationship with her family. I couldn't believe that she didn't just cut her off permanently after this latest fiasco (meeting June at a park supposedly to let her see her grandkids, but then June uses it as an opportunity to take Ella aside and get her all excited about being the flower girl).

Not that this is a huge revelation, but it seems obvious that neither June nor her kids would still be talking if it weren't for the TV money-which makes them all guilty and despicable.

  3. Can't speak for the complaining designers, but I thought the problem with Anna's dress was that it was just a basic mini dress with ruffle strips sparsely tacked on in a way that made the model look much bigger, rounder and jigglier than she was. I got the impression that she knew it was terrible and just didn't have the inspiration or time to come up with anything else. She seemed to be dithering about what to do practically up to the runway. That's why she was expecting to go home, and why she was completely shocked when she was put in the top. JMO!

Hester stole I Love Lucy's cigarette pants with skirt overlay that she wore multiple times in that show.

Yes, Hester trying to claim that was a !transgressive! never-seen-before design was absurd. There are currently 2 versions of the 'fitted top/full skirt open in front to show pants' dress for sale on T.J.Maxx.com.

However, Hester is amazing at making herself look utterly hideous.

Laurence is from France, Kara Saun was born in Germany. Just like Milli Vanilli!

I thought it was weird that these 2 kept emphasizing that their look was for 'European' royalty.

  5. That was a good show!

Idol is on a roll this season: beating the other singing shows in the ratings every week, getting the newly-crowned king and queen of England to show up, getting one of the very top recording artists of the last decade as a (one time) judge, having 2 judges performing at Windsor Castle.

And all the singers did a great job, both in their duets and solos. Oliver made some poor decisions, and I was fine with him leaving. Surprised Zach made it to the final 5, but he'll be gone next week.

Really not sure who will win; personally, I'm bored with Iam and his performances last night were not great.

  6. I think June's medical condition will be something that will supposedly scare her into losing weight/getting surgery again. I can't recall if she lost the weight during the 'Not to Hot' era via gastric bypass? Her arms looked like marshmallows- so pasty, so puffy, so jointless.

Happy to see the show runners again put up the side-by-side pics of Sugar Bears #1 and 2 😂 Ugh, the way she fawns all over Justin like he's some great catch. But faint applause for him telling her she eats too much/ wrong stuff.

I know the situation is contrived, but I do smile at Josh and Pumpkin's sarcastic 'love you more' banter. And their kids- so adorable. But what about the boy twin's name? They seemed to be callng him 'Silas', but I swear the chyron said 'Stylus', which is just stupid.

  7. For some reason, I'm enraged by the animation (or whatever it's called) on the Gemtesa ads. It's a product for urinary incontinence, so the whole thing is about 3 women who can't enjoy their free time because they constantly need to 'go'.

Side note: as far as I can tell by googling, this drug is for men and women, so why do we only see women clutching their crotches, pounding on the occupied toilet door, etc.?

Aside from that, I just HATE the way all the characters look like balloon animals or something. They all have disproportionately looooong bloated-looking legs that don't seem to bend, so they lumber around like Sasquatch as they hunt for the next outhouse. Also, all of them have these big, dead eyes and snub noses, even though they're (of course) apparently different ethnicities.

ugh, why does this bug me so much??😆

She is a professional singer with a working resume in the industry.  Idol is supposed to be an amateur singing contest to give unknown names an opportunity.

It's funny, because this was exactly how I felt about Adam Lambert back in 2009 😉 Personally, I can't stand his voice, but even I had to admit he was so superior to everyone else on season 8 that it didn't seem like a fair competition.

The last 4 performances (Iam, We, Megan, Zach) made sitting through the rest of the show worthwhile, imo.

3 more out tonight- hope it's not going to end up an all-male final 7.

  9. Despite the 'I'm done with this' ending, we've heard that from you before, Brit. I fully expect these 2 bores to try to extend their (way more than) 15 minutes even further. Their segments are my official litter-box cleaning time on Friday nights.

I hope Blaine/Linds, Amber/Pup, Shawn/Sara are all done now. They've all been back multiple times and have serious stuff they need to work on in private.

Big Mo/Derek and Mike/Juju ain't going anywhere. They should be shriveling with embarrassment after that episode, but I'd bet cash money they'll be back for the next LAL.

Speaking of embarressment, I wasn't going to watch the upcoming Mama June thing, but I did see the preview after LAL, and Pumpkin's kids are so cute that I may give in. That red-haired baby boy 🥰

ETA: Realized I forgot Chance/Tay. I guess I'm hoping he just gets arrested and sent back to jail, doesn't matter to me what for (as long as it doesn't involve domestic abuse).

Hopefully the show plans to have a three- or five-way vote in the finale

Per MJ's, we'll go to top 7 this weekend (10 down to 7), then the following Sunday (May 7th), 7 down to 5 (no Monday show), then the following weekend top 5 perform on Sunday May 14th. Monday May 15th is described as 'journey to the finale', so maybe it goes to 3 at that point, like it did last year? The actual finale is the Sunday after that, May 21st.

  11. And the best performance of the night goes to Ryan Seacrest. If only he were allowed to move every show along that briskly.

So basically ALL the country singers made it, except Mariah, who was half soul/R&B anyway. I may have to re-think my Iam/We winner prediction.

  12. This has been said before, but I can barely put a name to a face at this point, and now 8 more will disappear. Certainly makes it easy to skip a show, eh?

I would be happy to see all the divas (Olivia, Nutsa, Paige) eliminated, except for We, who can do more than sing corny old show-off songs. I would be OK with losing Colin, Oliver* and Warren, who blur together and haven't done anything interesting. Zach and Matt, your time is up. Do I think this will happen, nope. Probably the opposite.

Unless something dramatic occurs, We and Iam will be #1/2 or 2/1. The only (slight) interest at this point is who #3 will be.

    * Oliver is making it clear that he has no hair on top🦅 (that's a bald eagle!)

  13. I'm probably a party of one here, but I laugh every time I see the latest Wendy's ad with the two workers (skinny blond guy and black mustache guy) singing 'Bad Boys'. Dumb, but funny.

OTOH, I know it's been discussed to death, but the Lume woman! My God, how does she know 98% of the people who buy her crap use it on places other than armpits??!!!

Off topic: that poor child. II always thought she was cute and smart, even in the midst of her...well, surroundings. I am too bummed out lately to even dare Google her and see if she somehow turned out OK.

Mixed bag. She'll be graduating high school in June, but she's been involved with a 4-years-older guy who was arrested last year for DUI (she was in the car with him but wasn't held). Also, not surprisingly, she's very overweight.

(I know some other contestants were on there, but I don't watch it--can someone remind me?)

Marybeth Bird, Megan Danielle, We, Malik, and Michael Williams were all on the Voice in various years, and Kaeyra was on America's Got Talent.

The show needs some reliable experienced performers to fill out the 'cast' in case the real amateurs tank. Imagine watching a whole evening of Colin/Elijah/Haven. I don't expect any of the 'already had their chance' crew to win.

Does the show still have Motown night and Elvis night and all those old corny theme nights for old people like me?

Sort of. Usually there's a Disney theme night (shudder), but this year all I see is 'Rock and Roll Hall of Fame' night and 'Judges Song Choice' night. They don't try to get these singers out of their genres anymore, like at all.

That said, my favorite performance last night was (unpopular opinion, I'm sure) Dawson's Billy Eilish song. Suddenly, church youth pastor gets nasty! I mean, read the lyrics to Copy Cat; it's downright sinister. I love when these kids do crazy stuff like that🤪

  16. Allen Stone was a good mentor, and I liked his performance. He looks like Weird Al and sings like Daryl Hall.

I didn't think anyone was terrible; I did think PJAE and Lucy both looked kind of messy, and didn't sound as good as they have previously.

Warren does have hair! Still waiting for Oliver to remove the beanie. Their performances were good.

Elise, Haven, Mariah, Matt and Nailyah just don't interest me.

I find it touching that a kid (Zachariah) born in 2004 so thoroughly connects with Little Richard.

Kaeyra, Emma and Iam were outstanding (I do expect to be bored by Iam in a few weeks, though).

Actually looking forward to hearing what We, Tyson and Marybeth do tonight.

  17. The stated point of the Dominos ad is that they 'invented' the tots-with-toppings because fries always get soggy during delivery. So the tots are supposed to be their solution, right? Except in my experience, tots lose their crispness within seconds after they come out of the oven.

Also, people order fries with their pizza?

Mmm, I loved Spam. Can't eat it anymore (high cholesterol).

  18. Yes, Nutsa can follow Fire out the exit door.

Some really, really terrible song choices again: Hannah (I Don't Wanna Be), Olivia (All By Myself), and Cam gets the prize (and the boot) with-for Petes sake- 'Impossible Dream'.

Show still thinks the audience is dying see the judges making faces, standing o's, waving arms, etc., instead of letting us watch/hear the contestants.
