Maryanne is exhibiting exactly the kind of behavior ...

Her behavior strikes me as more of a very giddy, excitable eleven-year old than someone in her twenties. I wonder how this extreme personality will affect finding a relationship and getting and holding a job?

I’d like to see less of their personal lives and more pops!

It's getting to be more personal life, isn't it?  I didn't used to fast-forward it, but now I do.

And it's not just the long bio we have to hear while they're at home but we have to listen to it again when she meets Dr. Lee in the tent.

I can’t wait for the other two tribes to see how annoying Maryanne is.

I hope that if the merge turns out to be two tribes of six that Maryann lands on a different tribe . Jonathan and the others could really use some time to heal their eardrums.

I'm really impressed with Jonathan's patience. I would have strangled her by now.

I got a kick out of Violet being out prissied by the woman who told her this was a formal occasion because she was wearing her best coat!

I just loved that little line!

It took me back to the seventies when I was a teen to when people still got dressed up to go anywhere. I remember putting on a dress and checking my hair and makeup just to go to the mall. After all you might just run into someone you know.

A few years ago my fiftyish cousin came to my mother's early morning funeral in a sweat pants-tee shirt combo so soft and slouchy that several people thought she was wearing pajamas. Things have changed so much!

In case anyone is wondering how self-aware Tori is of her edit:

That "Blond-headed girl" reminds me of a young Margaret Hamilton (The Wizard of Oz).

  6. This Miz Ju Ju's episode nagged at me for hours after viewing it.

How could anyone call that a restaurant by any imagination? He couldn't even afford menus and the customers had to go to Instagram to order while sitting at the table.

I give this guy points for trying to pay his poor mom back but he really had no real understanding of how to run any business.

I have a feeling some of his back story was glossed over. Very odd he graduates with a degree in physics but drops out of a good job at NASA after only a few months and then pursues opening a terribly under funded hole in the wall restaurant.

High I.Q. definitely didn't equal street smarts in this case.

Anyone else's show have such loud background music over their voices? Or are they all just that soft-spoken? Or do I have random selective deafness??

    It's not just you.

More and more programing seems to be raising the level of background "music" to levels as high or higher than the conversation and it's really annoying. I wonder if it's partly because producers are getting younger all the time and they grew up with video games heavy on action sound?

I have excellent hearing, I don't need Closed Captioning but I often hit mute and use the CC just to get relief from the noise.

HGTV and TLC are especially guilty of using loud, jangly, high on repetitive percussion notes to fill air space. Survivor, the newer Forensic Files and Restaurant Impossible are also guilty of background noise pollution. I think they assume we are children who will quickly lose interest if we aren't constantly assaulted with sound to keep us awake.

One reason I prefer PBS programming is the music is truly in the background and is used to enhance the program instead of drowning it out.

Why did F or F flip houses never have a fridge ?

Most new construction comes without a refrigerator. Not only are they the most expensive of the appliances but most people want to choose their options, i.e., top or bottom freezer, double or single door, water and ice dispenser.

They also tore out all the sumptuous landscaping fronting that cement wall in the backyard, and replaced it with the usual stiff, wide-spaced row of grocery store chrysanthemums.

    My personal pet peeve too!

I'm a landscape architect and watching them pull out very decent plants along with the nearly dead ones feels like they're throwing out the baby with the bathwater.

It often leaves the house looking stark and bland-looking (especially the front entry walls) when leaving some mature greenery would improve the curb appeal.

My other gripe? For budget purposes they never spring for a wired automatic irrigation system (which I get, cost-wise) but then they install a row of elevated manual valves right next to the entry porch. While convenient when you have to bend down and turn on each valve by hand - what an eyesore!

Placing the valves at the opposite end of the planter would be a much more attractive choice.

Assuming you’re not just taking a jab here, it’s simply an artsy-fartsy change in word order, more often used in the past, in an attempt to wax poetic. Not seen much anymore in modern literature. The English language relies heavily on word order to convey meaning, which is why the title irritates some folks.  Doesn’t elevate the product for me, but to each his/her own.

Thank you! I really was curious about the odd word order and appreciate the explanation.

Maryanne sure is extra, isn't she?  I know it comes from a place of pureness, and she's the genuine article, but hooooo-boy, that's exhausting!

Can you imagine the deafening scream she gave out when she found out she had been chosen for survivor? Hopefully her family was wearing ear plugs at the time.

  12. No doubt she was bullied for her weight in high school but I would guess (if she's anything like she is today) that being loud, unfiltered and crude played a part too. She stood out.

For a true exhibitionistic like Vanessa that ridiculous bikini she wore to the beach must have seemed like an absolute goldmine of attention.

  13. It didn't help that Tori went off looking for Taro but admitted she had no idea what it looked like (she came back with something leafy but not even close.)

Taro looks like Elephant ears and the edible bulbous root is always found in wet areas. A simple check of Fijian Flora and Fauna on Wikipedia before leaving home is something every player should be doing.

While I'm sure that was her natural reaction based on everything we've seen so far, it's exhausting

Exhausting, that's the word I've been looking for.

You would have thought she had just found his bloody body in a bathtub at the Bates motel.

$820K for that cracker box. Yikes.

It boggles the mind, $820.00 for 1,150 Sq. Ft.

I will say though they did a great job of freshening up one of the most moribund looking house frontages I've seen.

  17. That poor neurologist with her face and life nearly ruined by the silicon cheek injection. What a terrible price she paid for that botched procedure. Glad Dr. Nassif was able to help. He really is a very caring and competent doctor.

  18. When the three books in the series came out in the mid seventies they were all mega best sellers both in the UK and in America. The characters and stories would have been still fresh in everyone's mind when the TV series played in 1978.

Maybe because I have read and reread these books so many times since then the changes really threw me (especially Mrs. Hall's new role.) But I've come to enjoy this new version and I am actually enjoying a toned-down Siegfried and a less ditsy Mrs. Pumphrey.

From the knees down, her legs look pretty normal but above that, it’s almost like she’s wearing some kind of padded fat bloomers with another layer under her arms overlapping them.

I know, it's interesting how oddly her fat is distributed. Even Vanessa said something like, "you wouldn't expect these legs to be attached to this stomach."

Was Vanessa's streaking disgusting?   Yep     But you can't control what other people do.

I was mostly embarrassed for her. I've done my share of nude beaches and skinny-dipping - but forty years ago when I was in my twenties and weighed 350 pounds less than Vanessa.

Vanessa's problem is she has absolutely no filter, almost no impulse control and I suspect a poor education.
