For yard work or walking, I love a cloudy day with a touch of mist and drizzle - not enough to sog your clothes, just that you can feel occasionally on your face. So refreshing. I can work for hours in that sort of weather. If it's sunny, I'm wiped after half an hour.

I agree.  There's no way I can work in the yard when it's sunny.

'And thanks for the comment on my screen name LOL...I don't know how much elan I really have, and the name is stolen from a passage in one of Douglas Adams' "Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" books, but it's always nice to have someone enjoy it 😁'    ... I saw this on another thread and thought it would be better to reply over here.  I love that book!  I almost used "Ford Prefect" but felt like I might have to explain it.   😄

The Maxwells announced a pregnancy for Anna Marie. They did a photo shoot for all the grandchildren. Then a final photo announcing the new pregnancy.

That photo is one of my least favorite announcing a new pregnancy photos ever. Anna Marie and her three daughters all have front carry baby-carriers strapped on. The three girls have dolls in theirs. Anna Marie has sign that says "Coming February 2020" on hers.

It seems a bit early to announce a pregnancy due in February now. She's 2 months along tops.

I just went over to their blog and looked.  That's a terrible picture.  Worse yet, she's barefoot and pregnant.  All the little girls are barefoot too.  What it is with fundies and barefooted girls?

So I went down the rabbit hole at Poultry & Chicken. The above little shirt is $63.99. Seriously WTF?

And I couldn't find Jill's red jeans from the more recent picture. As Jill didn't draw an arrow to them I'm inclined to believe they're her own and not Poultry's.

I actually like this top - but not for $63.99.  That's more than double what I think it's worth.

Sarah and Mary never got the chance to make any other choices, though.

And never will.  Steve needs to keep them at home to take care of him and Teri.  Who is going to cook and clean and empty their bedpans later if Sarah, Anna, and Mary are allowed to marry and leave?  He might let Mary eventually leave but Sarah and Anna are there for the rest of his life.

    I loathe Steve Maxwell.

doodlebug, medical question for you. I think I broke my big toe this evening. Besides ice, elevation, Aleve, and staying off it, is there anything else I should do before getting in to the doctor on hopefully Monday?

I hope Doodlebug is here and she can tell you exactly what to do.

In case she's not - I did the same thing a few years ago.  It hurt quite a bit and the toe and part of the foot had a deep purple bruise for a few days.  I did the ice, elevation, and Ibuprofen for a few days and then I taped the toe to the one next to it for a couple of weeks.  I broke a popsicle stick in half and covered it with adhesive tape and used that as a splint between the toes.  It seems to have healed fine.  I didn't go to the ER because this was during Christmas.  I was stupidly kicking what I thought was an empty box out of the way and it contained my nephew's new set of weights.

Instead of giving advice, it would have been great for this long time reality star from a large family to discuss the reasons they had to flee a country so suddenly and are never allowed to return without facing jail time.

This has also been mentioned on the Foxella website several times.  There's a fair amount of gossip online about Derick's general sleaziness.  I'm not sure about the truth of it but he doesn't seem to last very long anywhere.  We'll just have to see if he manages to stay in law school.

And when I hugged him today I told him what I have told him all these years - that I love him as much as any grandma could love any boy. He is on a plane now to a week long debate tournament. His parents really haven’t absorbed how much their lives will change even with the two left behind. I don’t even live close but I am “verklempft”.

I really relate to this.  I've enjoyed my grandchildren so much.  I now routinely tell them that I love them each just the way they are and that there's never anything they could do or say that would make me stop loving them.  I say that to my grown children too.  I think we could all stand to have a bit more unconditional love.  (Not that I ever got that from my parents but, never mind, that's a story for another day...)

  8. This is probably nitpicky but on the Dillard blog Jill writes about her grandma and grandpa and uses "g'ma" and "g'pa".  Seems lazy.  Also, I'm a grandma and I'd prefer not to have an apostrophe in my title.  She says that her grandpa was a kid at heart and her grandma had to keep him in line.  Wow, Jill.  Really thoughtful and respectful there.  😑

(When God-botherers come to my door, I just smile and say, "Thank you but I am a confirmed Druid."  The look of confusion as I close the door is lovely.)

Jill Rodriguez is teasing a big announcement on July 1. Her options are: courtship for Tim, courtship for Nurie, courtship for Kaylee, or baby #4. Many people are guessing all of the above.

I've been following her for quite some time and I've never seen her tease out a pregnancy announcement.  Usually she makes a video as soon as the pee stick shows a positive.  I'm just hopeful that it's a courtship this time.  Poor little Janessa has enough strikes against her without being pushed aside already.

The Duggars could have been in Basic 61 that ended May 24.  Here's a video that amused me.  It's very funny to me with their fake military pretend gravitas.  I thought I saw a couple Duggar faces at one point, but I'm not good with faces.

I found this both silly and creepy.  Did Gothard and his crew think they could build up a "Christian" paramilitary?

Of course, it's mostly a moneymaker for IBLP.  The first course is 9 weeks and costs $3,950.  There are two other courses they can take for "emergency response training" and they're $4,760 (10 weeks) and $3,635 (11 weeks).  If Jim Boob really wants to punish any of the boys by sending them away for longer - like he did Josiah - it hurts his wallet.

I recall seeing a teenage Josh with a shaved head but it might have been done without going to ALERT.

Edited to add:  And please Jim Bob.............. let Grandma Mary actually rest in peace now.  I know it makes good drama for TV but don't film her funeral and all the kids mourning her just so you can have a "Very Special Episode"

The minute I read this I thought, "I bet that's exactly what Jim Bob will do."  He's all about getting more viewers and a filmed funeral would do it.

I agree with everyone that I'm glad she went quickly.  And I'm a bit curious that there aren't more pictures of her with Jim Bob.  After all, she taught him a lot about real estate and helped JB and J'chelle raise all those kids - not to mention being a laundry slave for years.

Where exactly was she living?  I know they moved her into the cabin in back and then later gave that to Joe and Kendra.  I've read she was in the guest house.  She apparently spent a lot of time recently with Deanna and Amy.  Did they move her over to Deanna's?

(I have to add this:  What was up with her hair?  Was it always cut and colored the same way or was it a wig?)

  12. Jill has a new Facebook post up.  She's reposting something from Ken Hamm about the Ark Encounter now being lit up at night with rainbow colors to "reclaim the rainbow", I guess from us heathens that think it's okay for gays to use.  Hamm reminds us that the rainbow was God's promise not to send another flood and that next time we will all perish by fire.  Yay....

I think Jilly took down the Kaylee video because it was picking up negative comments.  She's also been teasing that the courting bench may soon get some use.  I'm going against the tide here and saying that I think it might be Kaylee getting a suitor.  Jill has certainly been promoting her lately.

  13. She's storing the kids' "Go Go Yogurts" in the pocket of the back seat?  Ewwwww...

(Incidentally, I enlarged the photo to make sure I knew what the squeeze packs were.  Warning:  That pic only gets more disgusting if you enlarge it.)

    Bullshit.

Yes.  It's all total bullshit.  They knew the costs.

This just makes me curious about Jilly's trip to Washington in April.  Did she go to help him pack?  Or - more likely - did she think this was her last opportunity to fly across the country?  I know she posted a ton of pictures of them sightseeing and eating out.  And was the GoFundMe to finish paying Moody or was it a deposit on the private flying lessons?  I think their lack of transparency about all this was way less than Christian.

From the way I read her post, he only did the one semester and then stayed out there to continue to earn money to go elsewhere.  I strongly suspect that he couldn't keep up with the classwork as well as not being able to afford it.  At least he had the good sense not to run home to West Virginia.

  15. The fetus at this stage is about the size of a large plum or a nectarine.  So she's mostly cradling her intestines at this point.

I had three full term pregnancies and don't recall ever holding my abdomen.  I understand they do it to emphasize that they're pregnant.  It just looks to me as if the Duggar and Duggar-by-marriage women have weak abdominal muscles and have to support their pregnant bellies manually.

I put vinyl planks in the bathroom. Stuff was expensive but super easy to install, is waterproof, and looks great. I love it. (I actually covered the old sheet vinyl!) Now I'm gearing up to put porcelain tile in my kitchen.

My opinion only, but I don't like porcelain tiles in the kitchen.  I had that in a previous house and my feet and legs bothered me a lot from standing on those hard tiles.  I ended up getting memory foam mats for in front of the sink and the stove.  Also, every dish or glass I dropped ended up in a thousand pieces.  I've got wood floors now and I love them.

As for Jill's kitchen, I imagine they probably picked less expensive options.  I figure their budget doesn't allow for higher end finishes, etc.

It's an awkward picture to me, with Jessa sitting on her leg and Ben looking very serious and disconnected.  Four days later and that's the best they can do?  Jessa looks good though.

ETA - The beard is truly awful.

Jessa:  "Everything went great!  No, I wasn't in the hospital!  See - Ivy is still in her green outfit!  Nothing to see here.  Move along."

Ben's expression doesn't say "everything went great".  Color me skeptical.

This makes sense. I'm really kind of worried about Jessa. If she did hemorrhage again, it might have been worse this time around. I hope she is OK/recovering.

I hemorrhaged after my first and third deliveries, and was told that I should not try to have more kids, which was fine as I was not planning to. But I wonder how Jessa would take this sort of news.

I had the same problem.  Count me into the camp of "worried about Jessa".  We've seen lots of people holding Ivy:  Ben's mother, Ben's sister, Jill, Derick, Joy, Lauren.  But there are no pictures of Ben or of Jessa holding the baby.  It might have been a minor complication or a major one.  Either way, Duggar protocol always has them posting Mom and baby pics.  Ben is either worried about Jessa or, possibly, angry with "Doctor Jill, Medicine Woman" and the way she is endangering her siblings.  Jessa may not want her photo done now, but having no pictures of Ben and his new daughter is just... odd.

I’m in the club too @Zella and @awaken Agreed that people don’t understand how complex it is to have an estranged relationship with your mother.

I'm part of that club too.  My mom died recently (extreme old age) and I couldn't muster up any grief.  For years, my siblings and I referred to her as "Aunt Joan" (not her real name name) because the word "Mom" is so weighted with meaning.  You can emotionally distance yourself from a crazy aunt.  It's not as easy with a malignant mom.

And now for something completely different....what the Rodruigii have resorted to since being kicked out if that KOA pool (10 pics):

Everything Jill posts manages to piss me off.  Here we see Rene(?) carrying Janessa while Jill gets to play in the water.  But, then, she always gets one of her slaves daughters to tote around the newest baby while she finds other things to do.

Look, fish pee in there.  I used to pee in the creek at my family's land because the alternative was an outhouse.  That outhouse haunts my dreams and has made me able to use any gas station bathroom.

Amen to this.  My grandma had an outhouse.  I, too, tolerate public bathrooms very well.  Modern plumbing is so much better than sitting in a hot shed on a wooden seat over a big hole in the ground.    🙂

Steve keeps racking up the country count. I wish the US would deny him re-entry the next time he goes on a foreign excursion.

He is a truly vile human being, and Zsu isn't much better.

I've followed this hatemonger for a while now.  It appears that Zsu is pregnant with number 11.  I think Steve only stops globetrotting long enough to impregnate her and then he leaves again.  The older sons seem to have jobs although the oldest isn't quite 18.

So how is Timmy’s GoFundMe for his college education doing? I am too lazy to check it out myself... 🙄

He got up to $1105 and now the fund drive is closed.  I think the remarks were beginning to bother JillRod.  Also, the timing of the grift and then Jill's post about Timmy sending a big box of gifts might have turned off further donors.

How long has the Reverend Fancypants been around? JimBob bought this back in 2014, right? I don’t know how this fits with the Jinger courtship timeline?

However, it’s the best theory yet. Still doesn’t explain the kitchens that never end unless organized religion has a lot more food involved than I remember.

Does JimBob have enough pull locally to change the zoning? Given what we’ve seen of Fancypants’ pastoring abilities, the lack of parking wouldn’t be a problem.

I agree.  I think Jim Bob originally just thought he'd make money on it.  But the additional kitchens makes me wonder if he didn't think this would be a good house to hold meetings, conferences, weddings, etc.  Ben could have been the minister and the younger Duggars could be the slave labor to help clean and keep the grounds neat.  Jana and the older girls could do Gothard-approved classes for women and girls -- all for a fee, of course.  And then Jeremy came along and Boob found a new headliner.

I think Jim Bob is always out there looking for an angle.  Everything he does furthers his agenda and most of it has to do with getting more money.  After all, he did sink a quarter of a million into a failed campaign for office while his children were wearing second-hand shoes and eating food that pitying neighbors left on their front porch.  I think he fancies himself as the fundie Rockefeller of Arkansas.

Boob already has his own personal pilots - John David and maybe Josiah.  He will have his own lawyer, Derek. He's training brainwashed Joe to be his right hand man.  Jeremy was going to be his own owned minister.

  23. I always figured that Jim Bob intended for that house to be a church for Jerm.  It was how he'd keep Jinger close and Jerm under his thumb.  They could "fellowship" there and have their own little "Big Sandy" conferences.

Little did Boob know that Jerm had much higher aspirations.  It's almost funny.
