  1. I just caught up with this show, and I'm loving her character. I don't think she overacts, it's hammy, but it's in the spirit of the material imo. The other actors who are playing it more straight have got it wrong. The show loses it's pace during some of the detective scenes, where it starts to seem like a standard crime show. Gotham needs more comic book elements. I've read people reference the 60's Batman as a criticism, but that tone is a good starting point.

    The producers/writers should be bolder.

  2. omg, this looks good!

Peter has been so underused. I'm glad there's some mention that he's Scott's Alpha, and finally he's more of a villain.

Does it look like Stiles is going to die? The way Malia said, "You're coming back, right?" The hug with Lydia and the end scene with Scott, where blood is covering Scott's face and he's pained. I think this time, the death could actually be a big shock.

  3. Well I don't think that drugging a teen is any better than kidnapping him, and I'm certain people would still be complaining about that. At least Scott took on the responsibility of doing something himself instead of dragging his mother into highly questionable situation as you're suggesting he should have.

  4. Are there any solid theories (or even spoilers) on what the deal is with Derek losing his wolf powers?

Derek's whole story arch is just bizarre. I think he was only kept around after Hoechlin became popular, and they've been throwing things at the wall ever since. I don't know what is up with this human development. I thought the de-aging thing was enough, but this new development makes me think

the rumours about Hoechlin leaving are true. It's like Derek is being wound down or something.

  5. With all due respect, the simplest answer would have been for Scott to take the injured in shock Liam downstairs to get treated by his mother, call up his druid boss and find a nice way to sedate Liam until after the full moon and then he'd have cleaned up his mess and would have plenty of time to induct the new werewolf to werewolfiness.

That scenario is based on a lot of presumptions, that Liam would cooperate for one. I don't know why you think he'd agree to be sedated.

  6. How common are mixed gendered lacrosse teams in the US or California? I'd have thought if it were the norm in Beacon Hills at least, there would be more girls on the team already.

This season feels more and more like a police drama, (say Criminal Minds), with a supernatural twist. I guess Jeff has decided to write to his strengths.

I liked the unsubs, oops assassins this episode. I don't think they can be redeemed though, but that's okay.

Lydia shouting at poor Meredith. I know Lydia was losing it, but that was a real bitch moment from her. I did like how she and Malia worked together though, and I think she and the deputy are definitely on a slow burn. Which makes me think Lydia/Stiles actually may not happen.

I actually really like Liam and I like that he and Scott have a proper Alpha Beta relationship unlike the one Derek tried to have with Scott and/or the one Peter has with Scott.  I wish they would explore Peter and Scott's relationship more, sometimes I forget that Peter bit Scott in the first place.

I agree so much with this. I wasn't sure about Liam being Scott's beta, but I really loved that scene with Derek. Where Scott expressed how having a beta overwhelmed him. I don't want him to lose that inexperienced quality. I'm not really a fan of know-it-all leads. It's nice that Scott showed some sense of being an alpha when up against assassin-girl, but Macguyver types who can get themselves out of any situation are not really interesting to me. Being a true alpha, I was worried he'd be fast tracked to that once he bit Liam, but it doesn't look like that's going to happen.

So the dynamic between Scott and Liam is really good, it's like they're both learning together. I too wish there was more about Scott and Peter. The lack of their relationship is one of the show's biggest disappointments. Peter's characterisation shift, when he became the sassy werewolf, was really annoying and such a waste of a character.

  7. It was a difficult situation, that had no easy answer. If Scott had left Liam there, I'm sure people would have complained about Scott abandoning him. The same was said after Malia was in the hospital. That Scott had dumped her there. Never mind that this was likely the decision of Malia's father and Scott is a teen who has no authority in her life. Leaving Liam there, or kidnapping him, both have arguments for and against. In the end, it was a comedic scene so w/e. lol

  8. Yeah, it's not like his actions were portrayed as being right. The whole episode arch for Scott was him coming to terms with what he did, and learning how to deal with it in his own way. Kidnapping Liam, and reverting back to what Derek did to him, were all acknowledged as mistakes.

  9. I'm glad they're not putting Melissa and the Sheriff together. It would be too much, too corny and unnecessary. Plus I don't see the chemistry at all. The popular push for that pairing kinda proves the point that people are more okay with any old straight couple hooking up, yet become incredulous at the idea of an equally random gay pairing, like Sterek. There is nothing between Melissa and the Sheriff, they are purely platonic and the Sheriff is still grieving for his wife. It'd be way OOC and off base.

It is interesting to hear about backroom stuff though. (I propose a thread. For news like this, and all the con stuff.) Doesn't Jeff micro-manage? He was boasting at one con that he actually writes a lot more than what he's credited for. Or at least in the early seasons this was the case.

  10. I don't know why being an orphan is an explanation for them being assassins. Unless this is some kind of Government programme that turns orphans into killers, I fail to see how one leads to the other. Or why it would make them sympathetic. Being an orphan isn't a license to kill. Cheap writing from Jeff.

  11. I think when first dealing with Liam, he reverted to what he knew. Which was how Derek treated him. But the conversation where Chris encouraged him to deal with Liam in his own way, was meant to continue the True Alpha theme of him not using force. I didn't expect him to roar, but he could have at least looked a little physically stronger.

  12. I was searching for info about the heist and the benefactor, and came across a transcript of the soundless scene. It was on the Teen Wolf wikia.

Mason (in the hallway): Liam? You up here? Dude, where the hell are you?

Lydia: What are you doing up here? The party is downstairs.

Mason: I was looking for Liam.

Lydia: Sorry, but missing freshmen are a little low on my priority list.

Mason: But not so low that you don’t know he’s a freshman?

Lydia: I might have seen your friend downstairs.

    Drinks spill

Lydia: Oh my god the carpet! No, God, No!

Mason: Hey, it’s okay, it’ll come out. I promise. Okay. I’m sorry. Was it valuable?

Lydia: No. That’s the problem, nothing in here’s valuable. We just put the house on the market. It was supposed to be left without a scratch. It has to be in perfect condition. We need every penny we can get out of this place.

Mason: Okay, let me go get some club soda and salt. Lydia, it’ll come out. It will.

    Lydia: Okay.

Lydia stays behind after Mason leaves, the door seems to close on it’s own shutting out all sound. Lydia rises and opens the door and can once again hear the party raging downstairs. She closes the door and the room is completely silent.

    Lydia: Soundproof?

  13. I agree on the both counts. Crais became much more interesting when he went rouge, and there was too much of Scorpius at one point. It's like writers knew they had something good, but then overcooked it. I thought Wayne did so well with what they threw at him, the character could have lost all stature by the end. I wish they had cut down on the scenes of Scorpius in John's head.

  14. I'm not talking about the silence with the closed door after the dude left.  I'm talking aobut when they were in the room together cleaning up the spilled wine, they were having a conversation.  Some people heard that conversation, others didn't.  We could hear the music and background noise, but not the actual dialogue.

That's the scene I was talking about. I thought it was deliberate, but people heard dialogue? What was said?

  15. Like when Scott got the bite, I feel that Stiles is partly responsible for the circumstances that led to Liam getting bitten. Scott wasn't nearly as frustrated as Stiles was about Liam being better at him at Lacrosse. If it hadn't been for Stiles goading Scott to use his wolf powers, then Liam's initial injury might not have happened, which would mean that his later werewolf bite wouldn't have happened either.

This harks back to the Pilot where it's Stiles who drags Scott out into the woods at night when Scott had just wanted a good nights sleep before practice. In this episode we also have Stiles insisting on getting involved in the latest homicide when his friends would rather just stay in school. In a way, Stiles does have a similar nature to the Nogitsune in that he is drawn to chaos and often ends up causing chaos. Not that Stiles is deliberately setting out to hurt people the way the Nogitsune did but he is often reckless about the danger he draws his friends into.

I agree with you, and in light of that scene between Stiles and Malia, it's fitting. I think there's a part of him that's always been drawn to danger. Maybe it's having a Sheriff as a dad, or the death of his mother. Maybe it's just him. But that scene where Scott and Kira just wanted to be kids, while Stiles was pushing them to get involved in the new murder, is very telling.

It was nice to have some follow up about Stiles' possession. I hope we get more.

  16. Fun episode! I figured the mouthless man was some kind of game hunter, the call back to Predator was obvious.

Scott is a pacifist. That's the only answer to why he doesn't use his full strength. I thought how he handled Liam was fun. The throw back to what Derek did to him is illustrative of the cycle of abuse. I'm not sure about Liam though, I do like his step-brother however. I like all the characters who aren't in the know. Lydia's mother and Agent McCall. I love the whole business of the teens having to be secretive, and the person misunderstanding the situation. Like Lydia's mother thinking it had been animals who scratched up the basement. So I'm glad there are more characters like that.

I had no dialogue for that scene either.  I've gone back to watch it on demand, still no dialogue.  I have TWC, so it might have been an error on their end.  It was really strange and I thought it was some banshee thing.

The silence in that scene was deliberate. I guess it was to help highlight that Lydia was in the soundproof room. I think it'll probably tie into her banshee origins, maybe she learns that her grandmother was also one?

And while refusing to leave when Malia told him too ended up working in their favor, it seemed like a poor choice to be, more or less, antagonizing her when there was a crowd of people upstairs.

To me, it felt like he was deliberately flirting with the danger. Stiles has always been attracted to taking risks, it was he who pushed Scott to go into the woods to look for dead bodies. Maybe the nogitsune possession has brought that side out in him? His little speech where he said a part of him enjoyed what he did, was interesting. Plus at the end he says control is overrated. Is that an admission of being drawn to danger? Maybe he somewhat liked the possibility of Malia attacking him.

They were cute together though, as were Kira/Scott. I don't think the new couple will last. I'd be happy with Lydia/Deputy Parish.

I think Gerard is the Benefactor. It would explain Allison's name being used as the password.

  17. I'm becoming really fond of Malia, and I think she might end up my favourite female character on the show.

Right now, she's mine. I loved Allison and was so sad when she left. But Malia has been a surprise. She and Stiles are so sweet together. Plus I think Shelley does a good job with the humour. There's a nice light-heartedness to Malia, as well as the impulsivity.

  18. Another good episode! This is such a change from S3, which was a real slog to get through at times. But then there's much more focus on being teenagers, which is the show's strength. As is the Stiles and Scott friendship. Love their moments together. Like the running joke about Scott using text messages to deliver important news. I also like that TW brings money limitations into the equation. On shows like Vampire Diaries, you have teens running around with no money worries, yet no job.

I don't know how I feel about Scott having a beta. I think he's not mature enough for that. I like him as the inexperienced alpha, I hope that doesn't change altogether, but then equally, he's going to have to step up a bit more. He's supposed to be an alpha, but he's always overpowered by other supernatural creatures. The Windigo pushed him off quite easily, Scott was surprised. Maybe now that he has a beta, he'll become stronger. That's werewolf law on the show right? That's what Derek said? Alpha's get strength from their betas.

So happy to see Melissa! I know many people want Sheriff/Melissa, but I want the McCalls to get back together. Kira's moments with her parents were also fun. I love all all the teen/parent interaction tbh.

The show is clearly being inspired by Predator! First the berserkers, and now this axe guy with the wrist computer. They've done this with a few films, the obvious being Lost Boys. I'm so glad the S1 vibe is back.

I'm not normally a romance fan, but the couplings on Teen Wolf work well and I'm glad romance isn't the focus of the show. Malia/Stiles were cute, as was Scott/Kira. Though the latter is a bit meh for me. I wouldn't mind Lydia/Parish, and you could tell that Hoechlin enjoyed his scenes with Megan.

  19. Sticking with Jason, one of the things I enjoyed about Piron Alec was his offbeat father-son dynamic with Jason. He seemed to really want to help and care for him* If we get a season 4, I wonder if we'll see something similar with Hoodie Alec.

*Admittedly while also using him as a guinea pig

Yeah, I really liked their father/son relationship, and was little surprised by how nonchalant Jason was about Alec's death. I don't expect him to hit the bottle like Carlos did, but a little pause wouldn't be out of place. The two Alec's were different people, and like you say, barring the experiment thing, piron!Alec did seem more fatherly towards Jason.

  20. Line of the night:

Sheriff Stilinski:  I want you to be honest with me.  Absolutely and completely honest.  Have you been time traveling?

This line is even funnier if you're a Continuum fan. His total confusion is what many of us have felt when watching this season. lol

  21. I thought he was bragging about having sex with Malia, while being a little salacious about her behaviour. If he didn't like it, I think he'd have been clear. Stiles has no problem speaking up when he doesn't like something.
